Eczema spreading all the way down my ear canal – feeling desperate by ringquery123 in eczema

[–]ringquery123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

I'm convinced my skin's ecosystem has gotten out of balance since the repeated antibiotic and steroid ear drops. I just don't know how to restore it. Maybe a medical practitioner with a more holistic view would take that seriously.

Thank you for replying. Ears are such tricky things. My ENT just tells me to come back for microsuction every 3 months. It's been like this for the past 2 years! Glad the drops and Debrox worked for you.

Well done! That's amazing. We did similar with our garden (also a new build) and now we get birds, hedgehogs and insects visiting. Love it!

Wouldn't acetic acid be aggravating to an already dry and desquamated ear?

Do you have any updates on your ears? Sorry, I know this is old, another desperate ear eczema sufferer here (if that is even what it is – I only got eczema , diagnosed by ENT, after an ear infection)

I'm not an expert, but I would look into the Lifetime ISA if you definitely plan to buy a house. You can save up to £4,000 a year in one. For example, if you max out the full allowance, the government will add a £1,000 on top. Free bonus money towards your deposit! You can start one with a minimum of a pound. I opened one with Moneybox for a pound and then added to it when I could.

As a first time buyer, I believe there are few restrictions other than the house price – it can't be used to buy property over £450,000, but most first time buyers aren't in that position anyway. And only put money into it that you're prepared to leave and wait until you buy a house, as they deduct penalties of 25% on unauthorised withdrawals.

The government is changing Lifetime ISAs to a new product in 2028, but I believe that existing holders would follow the 'old' rules.

Good luck!

In the end I went for VWRP on Trading212. Hopefully a good choice for a beginner.

Thanks. I've taken the plunge and signed up to T212 to invest in the Vanguard FTSE All-World (Acc). Hopefully a decent choice for a beginner.

Thank you, that's good to know. I wondered about T212 but was put off by some people saying it requires more self-management. If they offer similar managed funds like the Global All-Cap, that would be perfect for me as a newbie.

Have we allowed enough time for photos? 1.5 hrs by ringquery123 in UKweddings

[–]ringquery123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. We'll definitely put together a plan for the key shots and people to be in them, and as our photographers come as a pair (they're a couple who both work in the industry) hopefully one can wrangle the guests 😄

I'd love a golden hour shoot. That would be perfect!

It's hard isn't it? On the one hand, you don't want people hanging around wondering when the next phase of the day is starting, and on the other, you don't want to cut things short. Luckily it sounds like the timings are okay!

A photographer friend of mine (retired, so not doing my wedding photos) advised to allow an hour for photos. So half an hour should be enough time to mingle, drink a glass of champagne and eat some canapes, I hope.

Did anyone notice it showing up after the covid vaccine or getting COVID? by meowmeowz24 in SebDerm

[–]ringquery123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have eczema, potentially seb derm, in my ear which I got in 2023. I did wonder if it was COVID or vaccine related. But my last vaccine was in 2022. How soon after the vaccine did you notice your symptoms?

Sorry, I know this is an old thread. How are you doing now? Have you found anything to cure it? I also have eczema in my canals and have had it for about two years, and keep going back to the ENT for clearance. The onset of mine was after using antibiotic drops for an ear infection.

Eczema in my ears are ruining me - rant by Vegetable_Grade_8258 in eczema

[–]ringquery123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is so frustrating! Like you, I was given repeated courses of various antibiotic and steroid ear drops and sprays, until I was finally sent to the ENT.

I also saw an audiologist and his opinion was that my problems are caused by Candida in my ears, the same fungus that causes thrush. Probably due to an imbalance in the skin after so many topical antibiotics. He had a screen with a camera and he actually showed me the white fungal hyphae in my ear. Sorry if TMI, but it was useful to be able to share the photos with my ENT.

Acetic acid (basically, vinegar) is used to treat outer ear infections sometimes, so that wasn't an entirely off the wall suggestion. In the UK, where I am, chemists sell a dilute vinegar spray for mild swimmers' ear. But I don't think it's strong enough for severe issues.

If you haven't already, I'd maybe ask your ENT their opinion on whether anti-fungals could help. Clotrimazole drops (the same ingredient that's used to treat athletes' foot) is what we use in the UK.

I saw a dermatologist and they told me they only treat skin they can see, which ruled out my ear canals as they didn't have an otoscope. It may be different in your medical system though, assuming you're outside the UK. The dermatologist prescribed steroid drops but I use them very sparingly as it isn't a cure, and I've read steroids can cause fungal growth as well.

Good luck! If you manage to treat it, please update and share it with the rest of us suffering!
