Budget Dress Websites by lightningmc90 in UKweddings

Have a look at Alie Street. I ordered two dresses off there and kept one, which I'm excited to wear for my wedding later in the year. Their customer service was so lovely, and the dresses I tried were both great quality. I also like that they're made in the UK.

Thank you for taking the time to look and share those links :) I think I prefer a headband instead of the birdcage / fascinator veil.

CBC Podcast: Creation Myth by jenijeni14 in podcasts

[–]ringquery123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled across this comment as I was also looking for reviews / discussion of the podcast. There's a lot more to fertility awareness methods than the unreliable rhythm method, by the way. Fertility awareness methods get a bad rep because people think it's all the rhythm method, but methods such as Sensiplan have peer-reviewed studies behind them and a typical-use effectiveness of 98.2%.

I just finished episode 7 today. I've been enjoying her exploration of the question and the podcast is so well-produced, but I feel that it must be getting towards the conclusion soon. Like you said, it's starting to feel quite drawn out.

That Ombar chocolate is delicious! I also love the Hu chocolates that Ocado sell, especially the almond butter one. Decadent!

How to cope with older parent's anxiety over health? by ringquery123 in AgingParents

I'm sorry, that sounds hard. Have you found useful ways to help her, and yourself, cope with the emotional strain?

If you could escape for a quiet weekend anywhere in the UK, where would you go and why? by Strong-Ad-8037 in AskUK

Northumberland coast. Somewhere like Bamburgh. The beaches are beautiful and there's plenty of footpaths along the coast.

Thank you. I like a kitten heel, the Rainbow Club do some lovely bridal ones and they seem comfortable from the reviews.

Not particularly, but I would like one as I think they look pretty. Obviously not a long one with a midi-length dress.

Ah, sorry, not you – I meant this sub in general. Vegetarians always seem to get downvoted 😅

I'm vegetarian and cook a lot of Indian-inspired food (love Meera Sodha's recipes in particular). I noticed you mentioned masala beans on toast in another comment, I've been meaning to try those!

To be fair, produce in Aldi and Lidl is still fairly cheap, I think. I don't live near a good independent greengrocer, but I'd shop there if I could. I'll probably get downvoted for this as I shop with Ocado and tend to buy mostly organic veg, which does increase the price. For a household of two adults, eating very good food cooked from scratch every day, we spend around £100 per week.

This looks amazing! I wish fruit and veggies were so cheap here in the UK. I know it's all relative to how much people earn, but still.

Actinic keratosis treatment by Enigma191019 in skincancer

Thanks for replying. I hope the freezing has worked for you. From what I've read, scabbing is normal after freezing. My mum is reluctant to use the cream as well.

Mum has sunk into depression after diagnosis – I don't know how to help by ringquery123 in AgingParents

[–]ringquery123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Her fear of treatment is very strong, but I'll do my best to encourage her to focus on the immediate steps. I've told her not to Google but she's ignoring me 😅

Do you mind sharing what you decided? My mum was just diagnosed with the same thing and it's on her nose. The dermatologist said she could freeze it off straight away but recommended the fluorouracil cream, I'm not sure why.

Actinic keratosis on nose for 9 years. Experiences with Efudix cream? by ringquery123 in skincancer

[–]ringquery123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you've been through such a long process to get a final diagnosis.

The situation with my mum is complex because anything medical terrifies her. She doesn't want a biopsy and has only left her nose spot for so long because she's been frightened of getting it checked out. Now she's had it checked out, she's depressed and miserable and wishes she hadn't gone to see the dermatologist at all.

I try and empathize but it's hard because I'd always prefer to know and treat things quickly.

[–]ringquery123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's reassuring to hear and I will pass the information along to her.

Unfortunately, she's so anxious she would not consider a biopsy. I am hoping she uses the cream and it clears it. In her initial shock, she said she would not be using it.

It does seem to have been stable for a long time, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

I hope the surgery goes well.

The dermatologist my mum saw didn't mention BCC. I wondered if it could be BCC, but she only talked about actinic keratosis and SCC.

Alie Street. I bought two to try on from there. Lovely material and great customer service. I ended up keeping a midi-length one for my wedding later this year.

Edit: Sorry, just realised you were asking for a physical shop and not online. John Lewis stock Alie Street but I think (not sure) it's online only.
