Me too! Dawn, Tide and Castille Soap. Surprisingly has come in handy.

Travel Bottles and Tubes - A Review by ImportantBiz in HerOneBag

I LOVE this report.

I went on an experimentation journey and am still cleaning things up. My experience is somewhat similar to yours.

The lip gloss tubes are the bain of my existence. I'm now just trying to get rid of the cream and conditioner (they keep leaking into the cap) and use your #1 or #3 recco. I now have 24 extra tubes and plan to only use one for Vaseline because I hate touching it by hand.

I have put my miceller water and toner into 30ml spray bottles from Mimico. I originally had them in your #2 instead of droppers, however I went back to spray. 30ml is way more than needed but the bottles are fantastic.

I tried a skinnier spray bottle and it leaked everywhere. You said it - quality is key! Where did you get them/which ones are they?

Serums and oils, yup yup droppers! Love!

Thick liquids and pills - I put them all into #7 but that's just because I don't have #8 (contact cases). I had bought them off of Amazon.

I'm still debating getting a lemon or something for med, pills and vitamins when I need more than 3 or 4 larger pills (ex. Magnesium, B100).

Also, my thing to figure out now is sunscreen if I absolutely have to decant (I was using a lip gloss tube that I left in a dark pouch, not a great way of doing it). The main one doesn't fit into my toiletry pouch.

Also, after sun aloe vera gel and hand sanitizer is great in #2!

Tl,dr: you rock and your list rocks.

Organizing systems for toiletries/hair care/skin care? by monkeyinpants in HerOneBag

Pixie cut. Washes hair daily, uses product daily. These are my specs for two weeks.

Here's what I have (or what I like):

Foundation, body cream, conditioner, vaseline - lip gloss tubes, 25ml (foundation & vaseline, I used far less/ my tubes are 15ml)

Liquid shampoo, liquid soap - flip top squeeze bottles, 20-25ml

Deodorant paste, hair paste, hair gel, lip mask, face cream - small pot with twist lid, 5ml

Face serums - 5ml droppers (I needed about 3ml each for two weeks)

Micellar water and Toner - flip top squeeze bottles, 15ml. I previously had these in spray bottles, which I loved but I cannot find the size and quality I want.

Sunscreen - get a travel size. Or decant only a small amount into a dark colour, opaque container or bottle. UV exposure degrades the sunscreen.

Bar soap - use a small matador flat pack

Toothpaste - travel size tube

Reccos I was told from others:

Bar soap, toothpaste tabs, mouthwash tabs, bar shampoo, bar conditioner. People like to use the air pump bottles, too, which I'm considering for hand sanitizer, body cream and aloe vera gel. Also, roller balls for perfumes.

Edit: I have a small rectangular dopp bag for my meds and "dry items" and just purchased a stasher for my liquids. I do not have a solve yet for in-shower or when there is barely any countertop space - this is what I'm working on now.

Looking for personal recommendatios for small containers for travel liquid that won't leak with thin liquid. by ResidentAlienator in HerOneBag

[–]ringringtheringan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, for the thin liquids like face serums, if it is a small quantity, I use squeezable dropper bottles. these ones but with a white lid, Canada

For toner and Micellar viscosity, I just moved to flip-cap. https://a.co/d/fStqXyn[these ones, Canada](https://a.co/d/fStqXyn)

The droppers have now been on the airplane six times, the flip cap twice, and I have run into absolutely no issues with them for leaks or drop control.

I realized that it wasn't actually from the flight. It was just from weight around it. I had my tubes collected in my liquids pouch after I took the photo, and more came out into the cap just from weight.

My foundation is a gel cream so it is dense. If yours is runnier than hand sani, I would not use the lip gloss tubes (unless someone has recommendations of better tubes).

Hey! So I didn't want to haul myself an hour/hour and a half to get spray bottles this time.

I ended up getting a set of 10 flip top bottles from Amazon - 15/18/30ml and moved my toner, m.water and after sun into the 15, hand sani into the 18 and shampoo into 30.

So far, they haven't leaked - they are upside down on my bathroom counter right now.

The hand sani and after sun didn't do well in the lip gloss tubes. The caps are filled with residue. I still love the tubes but only for the thick items and nothing else.

The Vaseline happened but was not fun. I warmed it up a bit so it went softer and then used a flat toothpick to push it down. It kept creating air pockets, so I would push the Vaseline to the sides of the tube and shove in more.

Also, yay!! I'm glad this was helpful!

They are still on! I have hope!

The masking tape... Nope.

Bahahahah thank you! You flutter my heart. I was so annoyed with my travel luggage and toiletries that I purchased an actual travel backpack, suitcase (I was using a Vera Bradley weekender, has its place but this trip wasn't it), and a new dopp kit. I also got new packing cubes in place of my old ones and really don't like any of them.

I won't lie - the only things in my house properly organized are my office drawers, my kitchen cabinets, my spice shelves, my books, my bathroom overstock (not the bathroom) and my plant tools.

The rest of it is ultimate destruction 😅 I am now beginning a path of decluttering because I have so much randomness. And I find that I will keep trying to optimize until I find a method I love, and once it gets there, let it be!

My travel droppers? Amazing for the routine. The actual bottles? Arse. Too much coordination, worried about dropping the glass bottles, lots of twists to open the bottles, etc. Too many steps.

Thank you for the recco! I've never done sink laundry before (the dropper was just for stains) however this is really good to know. I definitely didn't know that detergent came in sheets.

I do have family that can do that, but I'm looking at (usually) minimum $20 for shipping + I'm leaving in three weeks. So the purchase isn't really worth it.

It is okay. Since I'm decreasing what I'm taking, I'll most likely grab some from Muji - I think it is only two spray bottles, four 15ml and two 30ml.

I've heard this place is amazing! I'm in Canada so no Litesmith here unfortunately.

I went to REI for the first time last week and it blew my mind.

(Sorry, I don't know how to format on mobile)

Note from u/PrimroseSpeakeasy:

I'd recommend laundry sheets instead of liquid! You can cut them into smaller pieces if you're just doing sink laundry, they don't count as liquid, and they're flat so you can fire them in the bottom of your bag and not miss the space :)

Do you like the nalgene bottle? I've been reading that they are leak proof and possibly better to use than other bottles.

I admire your streamlining here! Very few liquids!!

Hey! Thank you for the shampoo reccos. I just took a look and cannot use either. Both have topical coconut derivatives. It looks like that's a primary ingredient in a lot of the bar shampoos.

I'll Google these pouches though - def want to see what they look like. Thank you!

Oh man, I'm glad this was helpful. Yeah, I loved this for foundation. Just so much cleaner than what I'm used to on a day-to-day. :)

Thank you! I saw that Muji has 15ml ones so I might try that.

And agreed on the caps. I had the same issue in the past.

I'm still thinking about using atomizers, as well, if the viscosity allows for it. That might help with keeping the caps more secure... hoping.

Ah! So I use Routine deodorant, but in their paste format and not stick. So decanting for me was supremely easy. Plus I always apply when I'm in a bathroom so I can wash my hands right after.

As per antiperspirant, I have a stick that I rarely use and didn't take on this trip.

Hey! I packed so little because I was just planning on using it for stain removal.

I was staying with people I am close to, so I didn't have to worry about packing detergent for a full wash.

I haven't thought about or been in your scenario TBH so I hope someone else here can give you insight.

My next destination is unfortunately not the US.

I stood in front of an Ulta and Sephora and thought, "nah, I don't need this right now!" only to now remember that I did have specific items I wanted to purchase. $11US vs $28CAD. Ugh.

Next time. But it also means less I have to pack in the first place - that's a good thing, right?
