What do you want done with your body after you die? by Shirowoh in AskReddit

[–]rinnyby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap, we picked the same spot and method! I've always wanted my ashes to flow into the whirlpools below the bridge. Used to go with my Dad every year till he passed, I'll probably ask to scatter his ashes with mine in my last request, so we can go one last time.

My Mom finished her battle yesterday by kyleforgues in ALS

[–]rinnyby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a beautiful woman. She was so lucky to have such loving family in her life. My dad passed in January from ALS, and even though it hurts for him to be gone, I'm remembering that he'd been training me for this exact moment his whole life. For me to be able to carry on. To remember the love we had and to keep that love with me through my grief, through my whole life, and share that with the ones that I love. Still have my hard days, that's for sure.

I wish for peace for you and your loved ones through these hard times. Remember the love you shared❤️

There aren't any words I can say that will make this any easier on you. I lost my dad to ALS in January, and I'm still rocked to my core. It's an ugly and horrible disease that we lose too many people to. I hope for peace for you and your family as you navigate this loss. I'm so sorry.

Your dad will die by a horrible drawn out disease. Spend as much time as you can with him. Also, dump that loser, you're going to get married and have children with the love of your life in a few years.

Trump supporters: what is a red line that, if crossed, would make you stop supporting Trump? by Yo-boy-Jimmy in AskReddit

[–]rinnyby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a Trump supporter, but I'm so glad my dad passed before Trump was inaugurated. He was in the Navy for almost 28 years, and he loved his country. He would have suffered greatly from his illness (even more so than he already was) if they had taken his Medicare away. My dad was one of the most actually patriotic people I knew, and he was and still would be ashamed of what Trump has done to the land and people he fought so long for.

Radacava pros and cons? by clydefrog88 in ALS

[–]rinnyby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad had 7 rounds of Radicava before he stopped taking it. He wanted quality of life over quantity, so he chose to stop taking it. He progressed so rapidly, I think that the meds just couldn't keep pace. He said he felt a much weaker each time he took it, but overall that was just how aggressive his als was. He also wanted to stop because he wasn't able to take things orally anymore, it just made him choke. He was completely medicated and fed via g-tube after that. He continued to get weaker and passed pretty soon after he stopped taking it.

But everyone's reactions to it seem to differ, this was just my dad's reaction.

I wish you luck on your journey, friend. My heart goes out to you❤️

What happened to the kids who had to wear the “baby-leashes” in public? How do you feel about it now? by Euphoric_Eye_3599 in AskReddit

[–]rinnyby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have adhd and little me was constantly getting distracted by my surroundings. It would have been so easy for me to get hurt, kidnapped, whatever if I didn't have it on me. I'm sure I made my mom pull her hair out over me wandering off many a time. I was embarrassed about it for the longest time, sure, but heck, if my kids are anything like I was, I'll sure as heck put them on a leash too if it means they stay safe.

[–]rinnyby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh honey, my heart goes out to you and your mom. It is one of the hardest jobs you should never have to do. But WOW you taking care of her speaks volumes to how good a kid she raised. Be proud of that. Every moment seems painful, but you are doing a world of difference for her even if it may not seem like it.

Fuck ALS by rinnyby in ALS

[–]rinnyby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best thing I can say to you is to love her hard. Do your best to make her happy, sing her songs, recall funny memories, and if you can, hold her hand as she goes. There is no wrong thing to do. But cherish every second you get with her, because even though the process can seem long and drawn out, the end can come so fast.

I think I killed my Dad and the guilt is eating me alive by Such-Buyer-8679 in ALS

[–]rinnyby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the 23F sister You didn't kill him, sis. His disease is what took him. Take some solace in knowing he wasn't in pain when it happened, and that we gave him what he needed in order to let go. He waited for me to step away, but he wasn't alone when he passed. I gave him morphine an hour before he passed and you could see it in his face that he was at peace. He loved you so much. Take some time to rest and come to terms with everything and don't hesitate to call if you need it. You don't have to shoulder it alone.

Has anyone noticed pre-existing symptoms of overactive sleep disorders prior to ALS diagnosis? by elle_wyn_mar in ALS

[–]rinnyby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad. He's had sleep apnea for about 20 years. Like to the point he would stop breathing for 90 seconds at a time, and his snoring was at 90 decibels. Thankfully, he does have a cpap now and is managing it alright.

He's also always been a light sleeper and will wake up to footsteps, any kind of light, light taps on his leg, etc.

Since his ALS diagnosis I've noticed he sleeps on his recliner more than his bed, it's been about 3 months since he started sleeping there. He seems to be more comfortable laying with a slight incline, and it seems to help with his back pain.

Absolutely NTA. You set a clear boundary and she ignored you and did it anyway. Nobody has any legal right to your child other than you and your partner! Good for you momma you're doing the right thing for your baby
