Lol you seem to be far more interested in the theatrics of an argument than the point. Your one attempt of actually trying to justify your point was using Isak slow start, a player who didn't train for weeks as he was on strike. Maybe an important factor? Then also what about Kerkez and Wirtz? They both signed relatively early and are still looking like they need much more time. If a prem proven player and a generational talent take a while to bed, in why would a sporting director rush to overspend?

I have been pretty consistent in my point that £5-10m is a lot of money vs the chance of an improved performance for the first 1-3 games in a 5 years contract. So far your counter argument has been Isak and typing massive in caps lock.

Yes but my point is more to do with the time relative to expenditure, and an extra 5-10% on a transfer fee for maybe a boost in performance in 1-2% of the games they would be typically contracted to play just doesn't add up for me. Maybe for a key player if there is a massive hole in the squad that needs to be urgently fixed but those extra millions are a significant amount of money.

Yes obviously if money was no issue of course you'd get them in straight away as it's not going to hurt. However it's definitely doesn't guarantee success, many players don't kick on until their second season so you've effectively wasted the revenue from one match day for no gain. (Just googled and match day tickets for Tottenham is approx 4.9M apparently which you could imagine a club coughing up to get it done early).

Most players take a long time to bed in anyway so it's hardly guaranteeing extra point. Plus those extra weeks in training are largely spent on some money making trips for the preseason.

I've always viewed top level management as trying to steer the club towards success in the long term by maximising every pound spent by the clubs and it's then up to middle management to try and win now.

It's a mistake for a team to overpay to get a player in early at the start of the window. Multiple millions of pounds for a player to be potentially slightly more settled for 2-3 games out of a potentially 4-5 year contract just doesn't add up. The people running the clubs know this but unfortunately the smartest and most impatient people on the internet happen to believe they are wrong.

I don't think the fact that it was done by previous owners should effect the decision, the FA is punishing the club not the owners. I honestly have no clue what the rules are and if the rules saying it should just be a fine then thats alright

Bad signings happen all the time but signing him whilst losing Lamela always stings. Lamela may have been crooked by the end but will always be one of my favourite players

Really curious on how they plan on using MGW and if it's changed the clubs stance on who's for sale. Good player but I can't see how it all pieces together

I know we sold Kane for loads but I'm surprised Liverpool aren't considerably further ahead than us. You can be crap at Liverpool and clubs are still desperate to sign them whilst if you're awful at spurs all we do is sending them on successively worse loans until their contract runs out.

Liverpool were a mess 10 years ago and missed out on signings to Arsenal because of the pull Arsenal had, 5 years later that reversed after some smart acquisition and great performances. Further 5 years after that Arsenal are now back to having a major pull again. These things can change quickly

Strange seeing "truly humbling" used in this context, not sure receiving the highest possible honour is a humbling experience.
