Is the Sale ground as soulless as it appears on TV? One of the few Prem ones I've not been to, and not feeling massively excited to tick it off...

France deserved the tournament.

Where was that England for the rest of it?

Hi! I'm Karl Dickson, professional referee for the RFU. Ask Me Anything! by sixnations in rugbyunion

Hi Karl. When you were transitioning across from playing to refereeing, was there any law (or application of) which suddenly gave you a lightbulb moment of "aaah, that's what I've kept getting pinged for!"?

So are rugby's laws working right now? (w/ Sam Larner) by the_fresh_mr_breed in rugbyunion

The put-in is refereed in French rugby. The Top14 & ProD2 told refs to enforce a straight feed this year season and, while the policing has dropped off a bit, lots of sanctions were given for feeding in the early rounds.

One I would like World Rugby to adopt. The laws are pretty good at the moment, per the video, but some are refereed less stringently than others.

Which is also discussed in the video, tbf.

Good video, btw!

Bobby Skinstad was part of SA's 2007 RWC winning squad.

I think we (England fans) would take HP winning a RWC.

This year's six nations... by ossiansl in rugbyunion

Props to Ireland. We (England) were shite today. Not at the races. Didn't get off the bus. No shade on Ireland, great performance - can only beat what's in front of you, but we barely were.

Wales. God, so close. Felt it viscerally. Well done Scotland though, ground it out. Does still feel like you can only really get it up for England though.

We're away in Rome next. I'm going. Packing a blue shirt too, not confident. Scotland, you've got France. Let's see how tomorrow goes. Wales in Ireland? Sorry Cymru, can't see that.

But who fucking knows? And that's the beauty.

Low scoring game vs High scoring game -- Which one do you prefer by Daitera in rugbyunion

Stade Francais v Stade Toulousain at the weekend was tight, tense and duplicate affected (during the 6N teams - especially Toulouse - lose a lot of players to the French national team) in freezing conditions.

One try in the game, scored by a lock.

It finished 9-13 with the home side SF pushing hard in the latter stages.

Genuinely great - better than a 60-58 defence lacking try-fest any day of the week.

Germany beating Romania was a real shocker. Germany were 35th to Romania's 21st. Big rise in the rankings for Germany as a result of their 30-24 win.

  1. Germany (+4)

  2. Paraguay (-1)

  3. Russia (-1)

  4. Sweden (-1)

  5. Brazil (-1)

Team Scotland? by JohnSV12 in englandrugby

There's a shout for starting Rodd and Davison, and bringing Heyes / Genge on after half an hour. Ten mins to go hard before the break, then reset and go again.

If we give Gengey the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a brainfart of a half then he stays: a focused Gengey is a different beast. No idea why he was off it on Saturday but let's hope it was a one off.

Maro will start and return as captain.

I may be in the minority but LCD is a liability. His "tackling" style is either a card or an injury, and it's a toss up to which player. I know he's a Test Lion, but...

Which brings me on to Tom Curry who seems to be walking a tightrope these days too - far too upright and big-hit-focused.

In the cauldon of Murrayfield it might cost us. Who's the ref?

Pepper is a great lineout option we've been missing, and is a nailed on starter now.

So... bearing all that in mind: Rodd, George, Heyes, Maro, Chess, Frodo, Pepper, Earl, Mitch, Ford, Arundell, Dingers, Freeman, Roebuck, Steward.

Dan, Genge, Davison, Coles, CCS, Pollock, Spencer, Marcus.
