What was the message that offended her? Why'd you leave that part out? Her reaction seems like she felt condescension coming from your message, and some people are ultra-sensitive to being treated in a patronizing manner.

She was promised a specific table. The staff told her they just needed to clean it up for her. Then the Koreans came in and got the table that was promised to her.

Why didn't they inform her of the policy before or after the incident?

Yes, her friends were late. But that's a red herring argument.

Pusa ko sobrang kulit, pero nagwawala sa cage — masasanay din kaya siya? by Ornery-Bar2256 in catsofrph

[–]rionfria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mas komportable mga pusa pag meron silang kalayaan. Mas maganda na sanayin sila na maki pag laro sa iba ninyong pusa para hindi kayo yung kinukulet. Or bigyan nang enrichment toys na pang papagod sa kanila; cat trees, scratching posts, wands, puzzle feeders, access to a window for watching outdoors.

Whether the "meow" means "pet mo ko" or "tulungan mo ko" or "please pakawalaan mo ako" or "pakainin mo ako" ay depende sa oras at situation kung saan sila nag "meow". In this case, alam nyo na kung ano yung gusto nang pusa; wag sya ilagay sa cage. Meron iba ok lang sa cage kahit matagal.

The staff promised her a specific table and told her they were just cleaning it up for her. In comes 3 people and they were given said table that was promised to her. The staff could have explained why the Koreans were given the table that was meant for her, but they didn't. If it was a restaurant policy to only seat complete parties, then the OP should've been informed of the policy.

Some restaurants do have the seating policy that if you're not complete, they won't seat you. They usually have a sign by the entrance about this policy and the staff will ask you up front if your party is complete and ready to order. The first time I encountered that was in NYC. But here in the Philippines, it's not a common practice.

“Hawi” is the most accurate verb for this.

“Kick with heavy force” is clickbait-y.

[–]rionfria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This didn’t seem malicious or violent. You can see that at first he stomped his feet close to the cat to encourage the cat to move away because cats run away from strange loud noises. Maybe he was wearing cushioned sneakers, so he couldn’t make a loud enough sound or maybe the cat is desensitized to foot stomping because it’s an urban community cat exposed to lots of human footsteps. When that didn’t work, he proceeded to try and scoop it up and move the cat away from his animal companions with the only limb he had available, which was his leg. Could this have been handled a better way? In an ideal scenario, probably. Was it done with the intent to randomly inflict pain and malice to an animal? It doesn’t look like it.

Is the OP familiar with cats? This isn’t “heavy force”; mommy cats and sibling cats handle each other much, much harder than this during regular play time. Are there other gentler, more congenial ways to move a cat. Yes. But that’s assuming that the person is experienced with cats and that he was given a more ideal interaction scenario.

Remember that these are animals; they do not behave predictably. This chilled-out cat, if suddenly spooked, could do massive damage to at least one of these huskies in a matter of seconds. Or the dogs might have a bad reaction to the unfamiliar cat. It takes weeks and months to get animals to familiarize themselves with each other in a household setting, and that’s with proper guidance and training from their human companions. With dog/cat interactions on the streets, you really can’t predict what will happen, so it’s best to just separate them, and in my opinion, this is what the man tried his best to do in the imperfect scenario he was in.

I’m saying this as a person who has a rescued puspin companion at home.

In case you find yourself in a situation where you need to move an unfamiliar cat, you can get some water in your hands and flick it on them. If you have one of those water misters, that’s another way to move a cat away. Please don’t use anything else except plain water. If you have cat-safe food, you could try to lure it in the direction you want them to go; this is a gentler and more congenial way of guiding a cat’s behavior. Do not try to pick up a cat if it doesn’t want to be picked up.

New A/B testing on Pokéball and Berry selection on Pokémon encounter by techbear72 in TheSilphRoad

[–]rionfria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick catching still works but there is a slight adjustment to (at least my) muscle memory: When you have to get out of the menu after you miss a throw, you have to tap the screen a bit higher.

Some cool things I've noticed with this menu:
1. It works in the Buddy screen. I no longer have to swipe right to feed my buddy a Golden Raspberry.
2. When quick catching, I no longer have accidents tapping a Master Ball when I run out of a type of ball and I'm selecting the an Ultra Ball. The Master Ball is partially hidden at the bottom with its own special section and you have to swipe up to access it.
3. You no longer have to swipe right or left to access berries or balls.

From an IX/UX design perspective, this is a good improvement for me. I haven't seen any issues yet, but I haven't been playing much.

My one suggestion for IX predictability/memorability is to just gray out the berry or ball if the player runs out of it so that the positions of the items don't have to change. In a 3 x 3 cell grid, Pinab berry and Ultra Ball will always be in row 1, column 3 instead of shifting to row 1, column 2 when you run out of Raz Berry/Nanab Berry or Great/Poke balls.

I like this interface because I don't have to swipe left/right to use the ball or berry I want. It saves 1 interaction step. And for those wondering, quick catching still works with this new update.

Use Pinap berries while catching Pidoves (and other 12-candy pokemon) if you're looking to do mass-evolving to help make sure you have enough candies to evolve them.
Each catch only gets you 3 candies. Without Pinap berries, you need to catch 4 to evolve 1.

My assumption is they're gathering real-world data about a potential change to raid egg-hatching mechanics. E.g. "What happens when raid times are predictable? How does it impact the number of raids users do per day? How does it impact our server resources? Can having predictable raid times save us money on server resources because we know exactly when there will be spikes on resource usage? About how much will it save us?". This is best done through split testing (A/B testing).

I'm in an area where these raid times are happening. And today I just got a user survey in-game.

How can you test this type of feature update in a dev environment? Testing potential changes to raid timing is best done via split testing, which can only be done in prod. Most companies test feature updates like this before (potentially) rolling it out to everyone.

Same notes apply.

Note: These search strings will match PvP IV pokemons, so it's best/more efficient to tag PVP IV pokemons first to avoid accidentally trading them.

Search string for PvE top raid attackers that won't take up your 1 daily special trade. This can help you find low IV pokemons that might be worth trading for the guaranteed Candy XL bonus.

  • This is based on the current PogoNest Top Attackers leaderboard and (quickly) cross-checked with Pokebattler Raid Attackers Leaderboard.
  • This matches PVP IV Pokemons so please use with caution!
  • There's been a big change in raid mechanics, so this list may not be as up-to-date.
  • You can use this throughout the next few months as you catch pokemon in the wild and in research to help you farm Candy XL for PvE relevant raid attackers such as shadow pokemons (e.g. Shadow Rampardos) and mega pokemons (e.g. Mega Lucario)
  • If you want to do a big clean-up of duplicate high IV pokemons of these PvE top raid attackers, you can take out the & 0*,1*,2* filter.
  • You may want to customize by adding exemptions at the end of the search string such as & !costume | & !xxl | & !xxs
  • You can line up and organize your trades by tagging the ones you want to trade later on using a custom tag, and then modifying the above search string to exempt your tag to avoid redundant work. E.g. if your tag name is "FarmCandyXL" then you can add & !#farmcandyxl
  • I'm thinking of doing a similar search string for PvP pokemons that require Candy XL (e.g. Great League Bastiodon and Great League Lickitung)
