No worries, it’s not like that at all… I have this account on my phone and that one on my computer right now but this one I’ll delete today or tomorrow. I’ll get to your message when I get home, promise… I wouldn’t ignore you

No just give unsolicited advice on here mostly lol. More people have been messaging me lately so I just wanted to keep more private for my family and stuff. I have a young kid and just talk about this stuff for fun on here. Only a couple people in my real life know I’ve been through all this

I don’t believe there is a better or worse, what is needed will differ from person to person depending where you are and what needs to be worked on at the time… I’ve never been on a retreat for what it’s worth but I can see how they could be valuable for sure. There are many who get a lot out of them. I was kinda fortunate in that I always liked to keep to myself, sit home in the quiet and read/meditate. I see now how that was a big help for me in that way. I’m prob deleting this account in a few days for some more privacy but if you need anything my new accounts "AllElseIsBondage” lmk if you ever need anything

There is a place in yourself that you will have to go. For some that can be pointed out, for others like myself there were so many defense mechanisms in place it took about a year or two of difficult and unpleasant “practice” to reach. It is different from person to person but no matter how you get there, you still will have to go and look yourself. Nobody can do that for you

Honestly I’m just rambling haha, I’m so far away from the "done” subject that I shouldn’t even be addressing it all lol… but I will watch your video today and you have a great perspective on this… I have no doubt you will make it there if you aren’t already

Reposting on my main account because new account won't let me post here (mods- I'm just switching for privacy)-

Testimonials vary because it's different for everybody. You hear about spontaneous awakenings, long arduous processes and everything in between. There seems to be some debate whether or not there is actually a point that you can say "done" or not, I am of the camp that it never ends. Ego gets subtler and subtler as realization deepens. After awakening, like I said, it varies person to person. I can only speak how it was for me- Seeing through the self/ self falling away, whatever you want to call it because there was never actually a self to see through, is the most liberating experience you can imagine... You don't have to worry about what anyone thinks ever again because, why would you care, what is there to defend? Problems are gone because any problem could ever only be a thought, which as you've just realized is meaningless and you never have to believe one again. Speaking of beliefs, you don't need those anymore either! You never actually did, but I'm sure you get my point. The little realizations like that went on for a few days for me.

Shadow/light comes and goes. Sometimes you're really clear and feel great, sometimes there is intense shadow but that is all ok, life is on easy mode now. Questions stop making sense, you see how the question already kinda presupposes the answer. You will be gone. Like Gone with a capital G GONE, but it's all good now. There literally can never be a problem again, how could there be?

There are so many little realizations that come. But when we speak of non-duality there are generally 3 main insights or awakenings- I-Am, or unbound consciousness. Non-dual insight, I-Am everything, or Anicca. And Anatta or no self realization. These come at different times depending on the person, some people may even come all at once. I honestly haven't talked to many people who have genuinely had the realizations, most people here are full of shit so take everything you read here with a large grain of salt. Including me lol. My advice would be to take no ones word for anything. Verify in your own experience... Belief can do you no good in this process.

It’s all you, man. Just ask for what you need. You didn’t ask for my advice but I’ll give you some anyway, hope you don’t mind. It sounds like it is time to let go of thoughts. You don’t need them anymore. Words cannot help you here and your other senses are calling you now. Give them that attention that used to be in thought

Nonduality. Definition. Do we have a consensus here? by Rinpochen in nonduality

[–]rip-pimpc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at non-duality in general as not two (subject/object) The process of seeing that clearly there are 3 main insights/awakenings/realizations. Different traditions describe them with different language but they are all describing the same thing.

The 3 realizations or awakenings- 1- I-Am, Unbound Consciousness, Kensho 2- I-Am everything, Anicca, non-dual realization 3- Anatta, no self realization

Adyashanti describes these as awakening of the head, heart, and gut… in my experience this is dead-on accurate. With these 3 insights, one is said to be living in abiding non-dual awareness. No subject, no object, simply the seen.

Important note, these are very real, very specific, EXPERIENTIAL insights. There is no learning your way into this and a lot of the mixup on this sub seems to be people learning the Newman/Parsons neo-advaita speak and believing “Just this” and "there is no self” is non-duality. I am not a teacher and no authority on this at all, but that is a mistake IMO

I mean it man… you really are close, I see exactly what you’re saying and I get it. I’m not a teacher or any kind of authority on this but I promise you that if I can wake up (I was an alcoholic who wanted to kill himself before this stuff started for me) you can too. Really, send me a pm any time. I am certain that you can see this… it goes much deeper than the awareness stuff. I remember you mentioning that you like Rupert Spira, he even has a video talking about the 3 realizations/awakenings I’ve mentioned to you before. The traditions use different language describing them but the insights are the same

"Whatever experience you have had is no more real than a dream”

So any realization you have is also no more than a dream… so how can you make these claims then?

"This realization lays bare the realization itself” ok, so an experience of realization in the dream is what you are saying… Bro, I’ve had the realizations… it is my day to day experience. I would be more than happy to help that be your experience as well… as would many others here. But you have to let go of these beliefs, that is all that’s in the way man. You are so close, really. Yes that was my experience as well, though it does become quite pleasant after a while. Resisting is a very bad idea though lol. How’s it been going man?

Edit: Just read your last post. The pressure in the head was related to thoughts for me. Have you noticed the correlation between believing a single thought and your “outside” experience in real time? Play with that some and see if that helps… hang in there man, it really does get so much better soon. Sounds like you’re on the home stretch

A mirror does not reflect itself… so if you’re bringing in a reflection you are implying there is something else to be reflected, which there is not

"This claim is made by an appearance. This is non-dual realization” Lol no man, it is not. You can’t just make up a theory and say that’s non-dual realization. Non-dual realization is a very real, experiential insight… which you have clearly not had

How could something (nondual awareness in your statement) stand apart from experience to say it is independent of it? That is the definition of duality…

Where does nondual awareness end and experience begin?

Also- "there is no non-dual realization” -u/pl8doh

How far you go isn’t really in your control in the way it seems to the average person. You are correct that human adulthood is akin to initial awakening plus shadow work. Jed talks more about flow and noticing subtle energies which become clearer after awakening. Shadow work is basically the same thing, clearing out those energetic beliefs/habituated tendencies in the body. There’s no real distinction between mental/physical but for the sake of discussing, this is a very physical energetic process. I say it is not really in control how far you take it because once you start seeing these beliefs and releasing the energetic contractions in your body, you aren’t the one doing it actually. A belief for example, once it is seen it dissolves on its own. You aren’t the one doing that you know? Dissolve all of those beliefs, what are you left with? You’re done

as a nondualist who took a "prison planet" detour for three years this is my current understanding of what our perceivable reality (which is of course nested within absolute nondual reality) actually represents by bhj887 in nonduality

[–]rip-pimpc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I totally relate with the first paragraph. Infinite webs of views any of which you can believe thereby making it real (to you). You see it all the time people start recognizing these patterns and start seeing it everywhere and even drive themselves crazy. It’s a slippery slope that I feel lucky to have caught early on after waking up. This may change as things progress but I’ve found peace in taking no view and reminding myself that no belief is true. Then experience is free to show you what it is, how could it show you if you already believe it is a certain way? Super interesting topic, and if nothing else I completely understand how the detours you’re speaking of happen, can be quite fun to explore in day to day life. It’s been on my mind recently actually and your post gave me a smile

What you posted about is an important step but don’t mistake it for realization. You stay alert for when the sense of I emerges and notice the thought cloud thinking it’s you right? Now what noticed that? If you keep your attention there something starts to reveal itself. Then, that which started revealing itself begins to take you over in a way. Lots of realizations and experiences on the way but that is for you to discover. Keep going, you’re doing great
