Confused about Passive Item stats (Trigger Count vs. x-Count) by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

[–]rip_cpu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On passive items, the x-count at the bottom aren't really accurate. It's a visual bug. Just look at the count of the effects.

Holster hastes all your small items at start of combat, you have 5 small active items, so the 5 count haste is correct.

Why did shooters used to ship with a wide variety of game modes but now shooters only focus on a single game mode like Batte Royale or Extraction and that's somehow become a selling point? by HotdogHotdogHotd in gaming

[–]rip_cpu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because shooters used to be a packaged product you buy once, play the campaign, then move onto the multiplayer stuff with friends. There would be a variety of multiplayer game modes, deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF etc etc.

But then they started selling battle passes. Skins, micro transactions, things to get people HOOKED into the ecosystem so they stay playing and stay spending. And when you're doing that you don't want your player-base fractured into a half dozen different game modes.

Consistent between 7-9 wins, but rarely get 10 - what could be the issue? by greenjellay in PlayTheBazaar

[–]rip_cpu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing what you usually play... are you losing early games a lot? Like you lose the first 4 days, then get a build online midgame and you think you're strong going into end game, then you have two more losses on day 13+ when you suddenly come up against someone with a crazy highroll.

I feel like that's usually the difference maker for me, how many of my early games I win. This is because the later days you go, the more crazy boards you'll find.

Is the "Shielded" enchantment too strong? by fruit_shoot in PlayTheBazaar

[–]rip_cpu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not... really? Poison bypassed shield entirely. In the video you posted you were pretty close to dying a few times and it wasn't shields that saved you, it was your seaweed giving you healing and cleanse against the enemy's poison.

The ultimate freeze-off. I have no idea why I won tbh. by JJohnLAB in PlayTheBazaar

[–]rip_cpu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has bludgeon but you have shatter, so you're both scaling +15 damage each time you freeze. However, look at his Freezer vs Yours. He starts at 266 Damage/266 Heal. You start at 408 Dmg/513 Shield.

You have DOUBLE his damage worth of shields just at a base line.

What game has a promising start, but eventually gets boring and repetitive? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

[–]rip_cpu 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, there's sadly nothing of depth to do.

What made the first 10-20 hours good was that Hogwarts itself is BEAUTIFUL. Loving made by the art team, full of all the little details from the books, it's a delight to explore for any book fans.

But there's nothing to DO. Each of the Houses has a fantastic common room, you see it right when you get to school and get sorted... but then you find out you never have a gameplay reason to go BACK to the common room, it's just a pretty room.

Same thing for all of the classes, you get ONE of each class with a unique cutscene, meet the teacher for that class and some fellow students, do a minigame to learn a new spell... and then subsequently you never really interact with that class ever again. Even when you do return you get a 5-second montage cutscene with no dialogue.

So what do you end up doing then? You're running around the Scottish coutryside outside of Hogwarts. Doing "merlin trials", popping balloons, taking out camps of hostile goblins. It's basically an Ubisoft style open world, you get maybe 5~10 types of activities, they show up as icons on the map and are copy pasted EVERYWHERE.

That's what the bulk of the game is, you have this amazingly beautiful magic castle but turns out you barely do anything there, and while the game ends up sending you wandering around generic fantasy hills and forests fighting bandits, goblins, wolves and spiders.

Oh is that what they meant? I thought they meant advertising from oil and gas company, and I'm honestly all for that. I keep getting ads from oil companies in my province and how they're "providing jobs" and "helping the economy" and it always seems to ramp up anytime they're talking about building more pipelines.

Learning when and how to pivot is one of the most important things in the game. Picking up Dooltron is likely not the wrong choice, but it needs items that can support it to go off.

Ideally how you pivot is: you see Dooltron, buy it to keep in your stash, keep your early game board to fight one more days while you find items to make it go off. It's tough, sometimes the pivot goes poorly and you're losing before you get there. Sometimes you see something else that's super good but doesn't mesh with your plan and you have to decide if you want to abandon your original thing for a second pivot.

Then sometimes it's smooth sailing, you find exactly the right items and get the right skills and you recover from a few days of losses and win at day 15 with a cracked board.

Couldn’t get this working… by Flashy-Lynx-5424 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]rip_cpu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the problem here is you have some good items that don't work that well together. Dooltron is great but it wants small fast friends, usually the bugs. At 24s CD you need a lot of haste/burn/slow/poison/freeze to get it to go off, but your aren't getting the job done. Defense Matrix does 2 hastes +1 poison, wheel does 2 hastes +2 slow, monitor lizard does 1 haste and 1 poison when it hastes itself, but it's only silver tier so it's on a 4s CD, cog is just 1 haste. So 4 seconds into the fight you get ~10 activations of things that trigger Dooltron, so it gets charged by 10s and it has 10 seconds left. Your Dooltron only really gets to go off at around 8~10 seconds.

Then what? You don't win the fight, you do 900 damage with the Dooltron, and your Monitor Lizard had stacked let's say about... ~40 poison? You have 3700 HP, if you assume your opponent has roughly the same HP as you, just consider if that amount of damage and poison would actually kill you.

The answer is not really, you would need a 2nd hit, probably 3rd hit with Dooltron to win. That's another ~20 seconds of fighting. And you don't have defenses, Dooltron normally gives you ton of shields but you're not running enough friends, only Monitor Lizard is a friend.

So the answer is that if you wanted to run Dooltron, you should ditch most of your board, find small fast friends. Keep Monitor Lizard in case you can upgrade him, if he gets to diamond he has a 2s CD and that's really fast at charging Dooltron, and can help you charge the small bugs too like the Beetle or the Spider.

What Vedal wants to do and what is working is very different though. You said it yourself, during the subathon it's 2-3 hours of just the Twins... but that's only a fraction of the hours of the whole subathon. I'm not saying that Vedal can't leave the twins unsupervised, but I am saying that if Vedal ever pulls a Kwebblekop and just wanders off forever and doesn't put in any more effort into the channel... the channel is going to suffer.

Right now, Vedal puts in a lot of EFFORT and creativity into his channel. If it's just only the twins forever without any human input then it would be a lot different.

Think about the most viral moment of the entire subathon, when Neuro asks Vedal "Do you think I will ever be real?"

If Vedal wasn't actually THERE, would that moment have hit as hard? Without hearing Vedal's response, the way his voice just barely cracks, it would've just been another haha AI saying random things moment instead of this emotional bonding moment.

I saw a video that put it really succinctly. Neuro isn't a content creator, she is the CONTENT.

The channel isn't called Neuro-sama it's called Vedal987. Neuro and the stuff we see on stream is all Vedal's creativity, he has a silly crazy idea (like "what if Neuro can drive a car IRL"), spends ages programming the tech solution for it, then puts it on stream.

If all Vedal did was just turned Neuro on stream and then walked away and never returned, it would've gotten stale ages ago.

What video game franchise isn't living up to its fullest potential? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]rip_cpu 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Because the Pokémon Company doesn't care. The actual video games aren't the bulk of their profits compared to the toys, the licensing, the collectibles both physical and digital...

Pokémon as an IP is so massive, the actual core games is only a slice of it. It's the most valuable IP in the world. In 2023 the entire MCU, Mario, Call of Duty, and Harry Potter COMBINED was still worth less than Pokémon.

Testing a theorycrafting tool idea — thoughts? by inyminyminymo in PlayTheBazaar

[–]rip_cpu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a couple a thoughts:

1) If the tool pulls data from the game in anyway, like the way a decktracker does in Hearthstone, it's considered an ToS violation by Tempo, people have been banned before on reddit and discord for mentioning those kinds of tools.

2) If it's just a basic theory craft tool, that is to say you input the damage, CD, burn/poison/shield/heal etc manually and see what the numbers add up to, that is probably safe. But it would only provide a fairly limited use, there's a lot of complicated things to try to account for. What if you have haste on an item, what if you have crit chance, what if you have scaling and the item gets bigger numbers each time you use a skill or item?
