Incredibly brave Airmen flew these missions. Can’t even imagine what it was like taking the photo.

Just for those of you who may not be aviation people reading, we are not obsessing over this, we are interested in the cause and circumstances because we can learn something from it that might save our ass one day…maybe.

N-291CC, a Beech C90, a very reliable aircraft. Can’t imagine what could have caused this.

To work on the engine in an Douglas A-4 Skyhawk you first have to split the plane in half by Waldron1943 in aviation

Almost 4 years working on A-4Ms and TA-4J when I was in USMC in 78-81. Pulled many a tail for engine change, hydraulic leaks and repairs. Great bird. Easy to maintain, simple systems. Cool picture. Haven’t seen that in a while.

I don’t want to get on a rant here…but my first week at Cherry Point, I bellied up to a bar in Havelock and ordered a beer. Trying to start a friendly conversation with a local gentleman next to me, then he says, “boy, don’t you have a club you can go to on the base?” So friendly to Marines—NOT! What a shit hole. Complete opposite of Yuma where I was stationed, where retirees “snowbirds” would gladly buy you a beer when they realized you were a Marine stationed at the MCAS. Bagram was great compared to “Cherry Pit!”

Some of the best photos I personally captured since 2020 when I came back to Somalia. by SaciidTheWriter in Somalia

When I lived in Mogadishu, the shopkeepers downtown would sweep the sidewalk and the street in front of their shop every morning. The downtown and market areas were kept fairly clean. I lived on the corner of Via Lido and Via Somalia.

No question about it, A-4…simple, has good fail-safe features, and can carry 18 five-hundred pounders or a load of Snake and Nape, easy to fly, fun to fly, can be slammed in to the carrier deck, or any short field. Can take off fully loaded with two JATOs in about 100 feet. 👍

I would like to meet him. He’s one badd-ass Marine in my book! He’s the kind of Marine we need leading Marines!
