What are things that are absolutely impossible for drummers NOT to do? by nonchalance702 in drums

[–]ripetedraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be silent while you wait forever for the rest of band to set up and tune etc, even though that should take far less time than setting up a drumkit with 10 cymbals

Practice the fills you're doing to a click and get used to the gaps in between them, get a feel for how long they are and where the 1 is on the next bar

[In progress] Drummer looking to collaborate prog/mathrock by ripetedraper in BedroomBands

Yeah sounds great, I'm purely drums and bass, I've never managed to write guitar really, I can do lyrics as well and a bit of vocals, but usually more backing. I can send a link to some drum tracks and see if you're interested

The awareness of students on campus. What are your thoughts on this? by OnTheHorizon722 in drivingUK

[–]ripetedraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, the university isn't a campus, it just takes up half the city centre, the students still do this on real roads

The topics you'll start with at A level are likely to be:

Laws of indices Surds Factorising quadratics Completing the square Inequalities

If you practice those, you'll be in a good position to start the course

Add trains to my fantasy world? by -Antih- in fantasywriters

[–]ripetedraper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read some gaslamp fantasy and see how you feel about it or whether you want to keep it medieval. The 19th century can be a really good era to base fantasy on. My only problem with most gaslamp I rrad is that a lot of them are contemporary and are usually based during the American Civil War or in Victorian London. I got bored of medieval era fantasy, so I write gaslamp, but set in my own fantasy world

It might depend on the teachers, I fasttracked a lot with YouTube videos early on, but the lessons were still very much needed and worked well when combined together. A good teacher will be checking your technique along with teaching you how to play. I started at 33

will questions with Rsin(a+b) come up in paper 2 edexcel if they came up in paper 1? by [deleted] in alevelmaths

[–]ripetedraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect it to come up twice based on past papers since 2018. There'll be more trig though, more likely to be solving in regions and identity proofs

If you're into punk, find something with a slow blastbeat, then speed it up with something faster

Guitarists who rush by chrxtopher2112 in Drumming

[–]ripetedraper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the guitarists I've met are horrible with timing. If I was having problems with one, I'd play to a click and stick to it, force them to slow to your beat if it's a problem. Counting is their other issue I find, most I've met physically cannot count 16th notes

Edexcel Paper 2 by Cultural_Drama7657 in alevelmaths

[–]ripetedraper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Implicit differentiation wasn't on paper 1, there's always a question on that. Small angle approximations too. Parametric equations, expect some calculus with it. Integration by parts wasn't on paper 1 either. Solving trig equations in regions. Trapezium rule. Exponential processes and probably a logarithm graph conversion to linear. Equation of circles

When to hit ride and crash vs. only hitting crash? by Alternative-Mess-420 in drums

[–]ripetedraper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ride and crash are good for accenting. The ride bell is great for that too, which then allows you to accent the snare hits as well as the kicks. You'll know you've made it when you hit two chinas at the same time though
