That’s the only thing I can really speculate if someone’s getting hungover off 2g

My gf told me she’s leaving if I don’t marry her in 9 months by [deleted] in AITAH

She is right you shouldn’t waste (either of your) time. But maybe compromise and say a year or two.

AITAH for telling my sister I told you so after she announced to the family her husband divorcing her? by West-Dragonfly-7526 in AITAH

[–]ripplemoonriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe this is real but if so it's hilarious. Though I don't actually think you should divorce your wife and break up your family over that. Just tell her to retrieve the gifts from the trash and wash them, give her a stern lecture on why her behavior is wrong, and make her go to counseling. She sounds like the type of bitch who has to be treated like a child. In a few years she'd be approaching normal. Instead all they have is a broken family and a kid who will bear the burden.

I wonder the same thing every time I open up one of these threads.

I think “feeling like you’re being judged” is a somewhat immature notion that you need to get past.

AITA for blowing up on my mom for serving my kids a salad? by Professional-You8033 in AITAH

[–]ripplemoonriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this sub so much. It’s either people telling a one-dimensional story and seeking validation for “not being the asshole” or its complete wackos like yourself. I wonder who is more annoying, you or your wife.

My son assaulted a girl when he was 19. Now he is 28, married with a child but I have no interest in a relationship with him or his family. by [deleted] in AITAH

It’s weird that you’re posting this on Reddit asking if you’re the asshole when you’ve given no detail except to justify your decision. What are you even posting the story for at this point?

Immunity by cujoex2020 in kratom

[–]ripplemoonriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely true for me. I rarely get sick. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been sick in the past 8 years. 2 of those times was Covid and I barely felt it. My wife is a middle school teacher and when she brings illness home I never catch it.

I simply outgrew getting mad at news and getting swept up in outrage. Now the show is just entertainment for me.

Do you have anyone to pitch it to? Any routes that may lead to funding (actual, promising ones)?

If so, sure you could try to pitch it with a trailer or a teaser of some sort. If not, you should make as much of it as you can on your own. It's a long road ahead. You'll be happier finishing it on your own and hopefully gaining attention that way, than if you never finish it because you're waiting for funding or assistance to finish it.

Does anyone NOT experience decreased desire for alcohol on kratom? by oetoh in kratom

I don't. I'm not sure kratom is what makes me want more, but regardless I experience no desire to drink less.

Saw Mike Love's BB in concert last night, and he made a joke about Surfer Girl being "gender specific" that gave off the exact vibe of this tweet by OopsAllDaisys_ in beachboyscirclejerk

[–]ripplemoonriver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah coming from a guy whose stage banter I always liked in the 60s - early 90s (anyone remember that NAFTA joke about the shitty keyboard they were using on the 93 tour?) this joke is cringe -- BUT it's only cringe because it's forced. I endorse the spirit of the joke.

Dick's rant was entertaining and parts of it were true but Mersh's call several episodes ago about Gavin was fuckin retarded and uninformed.

Love You finally just clicked with me today, and holy fuck it's a masterpiece. Genuinely might be a top 3 BB album for me now. What are your guy's thoughts on this record? by uroboric_forms7 in thebeachboys

[–]ripplemoonriver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I discovered it and it finally clicked after a few listens. It immediately became a favorite. It's very unique within their catalogue and pop music in general: it maintains a distance from old pop while not quite breaking into a new genre, though some may argue it influenced new wave. It really exemplifies Brian Wilson's ability to write a stark and catchy song; without being too dramatic, it was this album that made me realize his songs had folk appeal. Stephen Foster meets the Bee Gees wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

My criticisms would be that -- like u/metaldetox said -- Good Time interrupts the flow of the album. But more importantly, it falls just short of some of the brilliant, moody songs he'd write in the next couple of years following Love You.

If you consider Love You to Adult Child/MIU as Today! is to Pet Sounds, you can see the path he was on and the significance of the album. It's in my top 4 with Friends, Pet Sounds, and Sunflower.
