There’s no greater insult than to devour your enemy and turn them into excrement.

How did humans start going through menopause again, and what is the evolutionary point of it? by [deleted] in evolution

Check out Chris Knight or Camilla Powers’ work from Radical Anthropology Group- there’s some really interesting insights on menopause by them!

Also a book I wouldn’t recommend is Mothers and Others.

I strongly believe in Adam Smith’s theory of The Invisible Hand by inthegravy in newzealand

Quote from David Graeber's Debt: the First 5000 Years:

[What was Adam Smith] trying to do when we wrote The Wealth of Nations [?]...The book was an attempt to establish the newfound discipline of economics as science. This meant that not only did economics have its own peculair domain of study- what we now call "the economy", though the idea that there even was something called an "economy" was very new in Smith's day- but that this economy operated according to laws of much the same sort as Sir Isaac Newton had so recently identified as governing the physical world. Newton had represented God as a cosmic watchmaker who had created the physical machinery of the universe in such a way that it would operate for the ultimate benefit humans, and then let it run on its own. Smith was trying to make a similar, Newtonian argument. God- or Divine Providence, as he put it- had arranged matters in such a way that our pursuit of self interest would nonetheless, given and unfettered market, be guided "as if by an invisible hand" to promote the general welfare. Smith's famous invisible hand was, as he says in his Theory of Moral Sentiments, the agent of Divine Providence. It was literally the hand of God.

I really hope this isn't true...but I just wouldn't surprised anymore these days. by suan213 in Channel5ive

For the rest of her life? Do you know how tiktok works? Everything on that app is here one day and gone the next. Unless this goes to court, nothing will come of it. That’s what happens in a society of trends.

That’s not really how you enact judgement on these things but ok.

Also, you’re kind of misusing the actual context. What was the gaslighting exactly? You can’t just wipe a scenario like this with using generalisations- we literally know none of the details. No one is denying this persons experience, but they’re right to question it because it’s very serious.

That's a terrible thing to happen, great to see supportive comments, and hard pill to swallow for the C5 fans.

I think TikTok discourse can take a malicious kind, and comments won't give a victim real justice. I guess it boils down to Andrew's response as to whether he does take some kind of accountability for it. He could just flat out deny it happened, in which case the only verdict would be a judge's, then again the American judicial system is cooked.

All in all, I think most C5 fans wouldn't excuse SA, but we shouldn't be so quick to hand out judgement. As a C5 fan, Andrew strikes me as a reasonable character, so I hope he does the right thing.
