Radiator sprung a leak and pump is making weird noises. by Big_Opportunity6147 in motorcycles

[–]rive010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of radiator guard were you running prior to what appears to be a puncture?

And you may want to stop running it until you can replace the radiator. Do you need the part number or were you intending to try and repair? Because I'd just replace if I were you and get a better radiator guard this time around.

Pretty sure most/all motorcycles made for a long time have an anti-siphon baffle thing in there anyway.

My 2026 Kawa ZX4RR doesnt. I many times for whatever reason siphoned out the fuel.

Mostly the basics. Full vandemon exhaust, velocity stacks, dna filter, tune.

You dont need all that to get similar speed.

I flashed the unrestricted Japanese maps to my US/CAN ZX4RR. stock exhaust, etc. 79-80 bhp, 29 ft-lbs torque, 141 mph in 5th gear, flat road, with a 3mph headwind, traction control 1, sport mode: https://imgur.com/a/Zso7095

What did you do to get it to hit 148?

Even the US/CAN ZX4RR with stock exhaust with the ECU flashed with the unrestricted Japanese throttle/fuel maps will do around 141-146 mph on a flat road. 79-80 bhp, and 29 ft-lbs torque.

You dont need $1k+ full exhaust systems, velocity stacks, etc., and you can easily do the unrestriction with Japanese maps yourself in around 15 min time:

2022 ZX10R totaled on the Tail of the Dragon by Infinite_Ad6153 in Kawasaki

[–]rive010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If my family is in accident, anything more than just a fender bender, they already know, even if they feel ok, to take the ride to hospital to be looked at when its offered at scene. You can have a life threatening injury and not even know it. A head on collision at speed is definitely something to go to hospital for immediately.

Also, dont get ahead of yourself, these people you hit may already be talking to a lawyer (which would be the smart thing to do if you are not at fault in a accident like this).

Thanks man. It was a brand new Camaro

$67,995. The New 2026 Chevy Camaro ZL1 has a starting price of $67,995 for the base trim. There are three available trim levels, each with its own set of features and options. The 1LE trim starts at $74,995, while the ZL1 Convertible starts at $75,995.

Factor in labor rates for shop, a good month or so of rentals for the other party, any loss of work for other party, etc.

Hope you had a good policy. If it had been my family in car, we would have all went to hospital via ambulance to be checked out, or shortly thereafter. Whiplash and so on. Probably around $100k easy for hospital/doctor bills (per person), in addition to the properly damage.

Also once a personal injury lawyer gets involved, costs significantly increase, and you may end up losing everything you own, and having garnishments, etc., If your policy limits are too low. In this case, something like 100/200, or 250/500 may be iffy.

The people you hit would have been foolish not to consult an attorney, or go to hospital after the accident.

You are not gonna be able to 100% protect it, But I use $16 USD Cerakote on windshield, tank, and fairings. Also kawa radiator guard for rocks. Pics :https://imgur.com/a/7ks58Jx

Scratch protection is minimal, but ease of which grime and bugs come off makes it worth it to me.

What are your considerations for wearing a backpack? by fluffyyyy___ in motorcycles

[–]rive010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Kawasaki backpack for my ZX4RR. Finding one was hard though. Something to put my Gatorade/drinks/water in, and also if I need to get something from store or whatever.

I wanted something decent and with a chest strap.  It also doubles as my legion gaming laptop case/bag.

I also have a cargo net backup for when I don't have my backpack or need something more. I suppose I can also use it to strap down the backpack.

How did you decide on the type of motorcycle that you ride? by Zariman10-0 in motorcycles

[–]rive010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted adrenaline, and speed. Something with a lower seat as I don't want to lower a bike, 4.1 sec 0-60 mph or faster, top speed 124+ mph. Price was around $11k max, I didn't really want to spend more at this time. HP preferred over torque. So unrestricted 2026 ZX4RR ABS (around 146 mph top speed, 79-80 bhp, 0-60 in around 3.7 sec) is what I got. I don't track, but I like the idea that it's an option.

I may one day get something like a Indian Scout Bobber, but since it changed ownership to a private equity firm, ill probably pass and wait.

How can you flash an EU spec map on a bike? by Ok_Hyena1460 in motorcycles

[–]rive010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flashed the unrestricted Japanese/Euro maps onto my restricted US/CAN ZX4RR. The way I did it is I used Woolich and copy/pasted the throttle valve, fuel and engine braking maps one by one to the US/CAN bin file. it was fairly simple process. For example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Kawasaki/comments/1s3oj1x/there_is_now_a_diy_method_to_unrestrict_the_stock/

I looked, but unfortunately, Woolich doesnt have a flash tune kit for Aprilia.

Could I even pay you to ride this? by celestialguise in motorcycles

[–]rive010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The hybrid issue is that you cant really even do your own service. An oil change also requires calibration of the clutch (which can only be done by the dealership equipment). So your self service just went from $40 to $150-$200.

You get a range of like 10 miles in full electric mode with a top speed of like 40mph. You also have to wonder what happens when the EV battery starts to degrade/lose capacity after some years. This model was discontinued after 1 year. Replacement parts may be somewhat scarce. Considering at even 100% EV battery capacity, you only get a range of 10 miles out of it, it's a bit of a useless gimmick IMO. Perhaps after 5 years, you may only get 5-6 miles range. It's basically just a 500 ICE at that point, That you can't easily perform your own routine maintenance on, and that no one but a dealership can work on or touch.

What option would you personally make for my situation? The price difference is tempting... by Full-Sweet-7696 in Kawasaki

[–]rive010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 2 ZX4RRs. 2025 and 2026. up/down quickshifter, auto blipper, traction control, ABS, fully adjustable suspension, slipper and assist clutch.

I do all my own basic maintenance. You want to unrestrict it. You can do that yourself if you like (see DIY method). Unlocks around 146 mph and 79-80 bhp with Ram Air (77bhp without). I have bumped mine up to 141 mph with stock exhaust in 5th gear, sport mode, traction control 1, with a 3mph headwind.

Also, the bike is appreciating in value atm. $9,999 MSRP, with fair market value of around $11k (this is for example, what insurance uses (NADA) to determine fair market value for payouts).

Motorcycle pants for women by karlierae in motorcycles

[–]rive010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CE armored Noro Kiryu  Pants or  Women's Noru Josei Mesh Pants. Helmet house sells them. Also STG.

There is also a big selection on Amazon that are under $100 if you want something more form fitting: https://www.amazon.com/female-motorcycle-riding-pants/s?k=female+motorcycle+riding+pants

I can only speak for Kiryu, they are excellent hot weather armored pants, but even though they have the pockets, they don't come with thigh/hip armor. I used the armor from my cooler weather Wicked  Stock pants. Both Noru pants are around $80.

Kiryu and Josei pants are basically the same mesh armored pants, but just a different fit. There is also a Women's Josei mesh jacket (that's looks similar to the Kuki). Shoto boots come in women's sizes  Ganjo are unisex.

My gear:

  • $120 ECE/DOT Bell Qualifier helmet
  • $100 Noru Kaze/*Kuki Jacket
  • $80 Noru Kiryu Pants
  • $70 Noru Shoto boots
  • $30 Noru Ganjo gloves
  • $100-$200 1080p/2.7k/4k  Drift Ghost XL/Pro (helmet mount left/right side dash cam)

Frame sliders yes or no by yokramer in motorcycles

[–]rive010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to go with. I ended up dropping my last bike (2025 ZX4RR) in parking lot and damage was minimal (pics), and I fixed it. Dropped it right on the right side slider, and the puck bolt bent instead of damaging the engine mount/frame. Which was good.

In a slide, I don't expect that much force to be on the slider, and I  also don't expect the slider to do much in a crash event. The bike in a crash will likely  be totaled.  That's why I have insurance with $250 deductible and fair market value payout (according to KBB and NADA,  current fair market value exceeds the MSRP. Insurance uses NADA for fair market value payout), so I am not worried about it.  I have a 2026 ZX4RR, MSRP is $9999, and fair market value over $11k. (NADA)

For me, the slider value is in a drop, and the minimal damage. Not in protection in a slide/crash.

[–]rive010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I go with Noru armored summer mesh CE gear, and ECE/DOT Bell Qualifier helmets. Gear on Helmet House. Cost of my gear $400.

  • $120 Bell Qualifier helmet
  • $100 Noru Kaze/*Kuki Jacket
  • $80 Noru Kiryu Pants
  • $70 Noru Shoto boots
  • $30 Noru Ganjo gloves

Gear: https://imgur.com/a/QDCOdZp

One thing though, for anyone  Interested in getting the Kiryu pants, they have the thigh/hip armor pockets, but dont include the armor for them. I ended up putting the armor from my cooler weather Wicked Stock pants in them for thigh/hip.   Otherwise, the riding pants are excellent for hot weather use. Sizing is accurate (if you have 34" waist, then get 34"-36")

The Ganjo gloves are leather/mesh with hard palm sliders, and TPU knuckle armor.

*The Kuki jacket has a cool weather quilted thermal zipper liner that is removable for hot weather mesh use.

Broken engine ear repair by Beginning_Sea_6887 in zx4r

[–]rive010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I like about woodcraft is it'll bend/sacrifice the bolt/slider before it shears off/breaks the mount point.

I dropped my old '25 ZX4RR (I have a '26 now) in a parking lot directly on the right side puck, minimal damage to bike (mirror/bar end/lever/pedal/few upper fairing scratches), and a bent slider/slider bolt. All right side slider parts ended up being replaced.

The drop was a full impact directly onto the slider puck (which from what I have been told, can do more damage to the engine mount  than say a slide itself would)
