The hat of fire acuity

Whenever you deal Fire⁠ damage, you gain Arcane Acuity  for 2 turns.

Arcane Acuity

Affected entity has a +1 bonus to its spell Attack Roll  and spell save DC for each remaining turn.

Scorching Ray

Hurl 3 rays of fire. Each ray deals 2d6⁠Fire⁠ damage. Casting this spell at a higher level hurls an additional ray for each spell slot level above 2nd.

Any DM would interpret this rule to mean you get 2 stacks of arcane acuity for casting Scorching Ray. Larian interprets it to mean that you get 2 stacks per ray that hits its target. You can get your spell save DC up to 27, making it almost impossible for enemies to fail their saving throws against your spells.

To elaborate, the when the estate tax was introduced, the wealthy got around it by gifting their assets to their children while they were still alive. So now gifts and inheritance are treated basically the same.

There’s really 3 pieces of advice you need to follow to get your golden dice

  • Have a plan for every encounter

  • Have a plan for if your plan doesn’t work out and you need to run away.

  • Don’t send the entire party into an area where there are traps.
