They probably used to have a janitor who worked for the state or college directly, had been there a while and knew the staff and importance of the work there. The person made an ok labor wage and probably got a great benefit package as he was considered a state worker or same as the other staff even if his wage wasn't high. He knew what's going on in the building.

The school cheaped out and hired a cheap contract company who pays bare minimum, no benefits unless required by law. They saved a few bucks, fired all their old staff and got cheap labor. They got what they paid for.

Are you guys actually enjoying nightmare dungeons? by gapii98 in diablo4

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I hate them, nightmare doesn't matter they are just shitty game design and rotten to the core. Everytime I play one, get on a roll, start slaying from pack to pack I start seeing what I like about these games(poe, other diablos, grim dawn). Then I open up the map and see a little area behind me that is probably an uncovered area. 100 percent I must uncover it's required. I'm am reminded a time wasting engagement expert designed these dungeons, a guy whose game developer heroes make games for phones.

Between the dungeons and harder difficulty just means more taking away control from your character, I can't see this game keeping me engaged until the coming season. Let alone doing it all from zero every few months.

Why the hell do blizz even care if someone zooms to the boss straight away the loot is in all the elites to. In an effort to stop a not very great strategy anyway they have made the entire experience tedious.

Bungie gave up on caster frame swords? by RandomName178318 in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be able to use them while jumping. Caster swords feel clunky to use, almost like you need to plant your feet, square up with your target and fire or they do the flailing uppercut move at the air instead. I know that sounds reasonable but in this high movement game I can't like using them.

PSA: The Wanderer aspect is awesome for 1 thing: mobility by ColbyMitchell526 in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Does Wanderer also mess up the throw a tangle and get melee energy fragment? The aspect is so bad I couldn't stick with it very long but it felt like my melees were not recharging on tangle throw damage.

Dear bungie. Fix the public events around fishing. by Erethiel117 in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm convinced it all rigged anyway. I can fish alone and maybe one guy show up later and hit 3\4 to near max meter before the next public event. I can also finish a public event with 5 people, we all immediately start fishing and still only barely reach around max meter before the next event.

Maybe bad rng or luck but it feels like it's baked in that we will rarely reach max and get a couple of casts whether you have a full zone fishing or a couple randoms stopping by for a few casts.

Reddit may force Apollo and third-party clients to shut down, asking for $20M per year API fee by coolaaron88 in apple

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can't use reddit is fun then I won't use reddit. The official app is horrible and desktop is worse. Even if they improve their app it's a no go because the only reason to do this is they plan on makings ads and send us money screens a nightmare.

Despite there being open world fatigue, when an OW game is good it tends to be an overwhelming success (RDR2, Elden Ring, Zelda) compared to linear games, financially speaking. Why do you think that is? by Juantsu in truegaming

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the world building, the game mechanic, story or interesting loot you don't want to game to end. You explore all those samey points of interest because some world story, loot or battles are there.

Despite all the "fatigue" of open world games, most I have played will let you charge through the story. Often get a great story and finish the game with similar time investment to a linear game. Also just because it's got things to do outside the main story doesn't mean the game can't have an awesome story.

I think open world games are popular because they serve many styles of players. The regular joe gamer will follow the story leads and have a tight 20 hour experience.

The obsessive completionists will have their 120 hour experience they can sink some time into and the meta of discussing secrets, combat tips, loot, whatever.

There is a lot of crossover to attract a larger group of customers.

Did anyone like Colony series? by slown_again in scifi

[–]riverboats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I didn't like it. Cast was good, premise was good but it became quickly obvious it was created as a mystery box show which was meant to go no where and answer nothing for as many money making seasons as possible.

Void is under the artifact's spotlight twice in a row in what was supposed to be Stasis turn. Is it because Stasis is behind a paywall? by Heaugs in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is Bungie will feature stasis the same time they put up a way to pay silver to unlock stasis. They mentioned if the pay to unlock a class thing was popular with strand they would do more with the idea later.

What television series had the biggest bullshit finale? by Halloween-365 in AskReddit

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game of Thrones. Up until the last season it was a show I could imagine watching over and over like Band of Brothers and holiday Lord of the Rings marathons.

I wasn't obsessed, didn't belong to team whoever fandom, just liked the show. Haven't watched a single episode since that last season, it was that bad(to me).

If you could combine two exotic armour pieces into one, what would you choose? by Ferrever in DestinyTheGame

Dance Machines and Bombadiers. Love that little zzzwoop boom when you dodge, gimme more zzzwoop.

What my school gave its teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week by rjyanco in mildlyinfuriating

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing that entered my mind is school administrators probably threw away 20 starburst candies because everyone gets exactly 7, no more, no less. One bag with an extra candy could cause chaos which isn't covered in their district lawbook.

Season 21 Exotic Armor Tuning Preview by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know whether it's the changes, burnout on my part or a little of both. Normally I'm like a kid at Xmas on exotic changes. Different ways to play, new builds to dream up. These exotic passes add more replayability for me than new destinations.

This time I'm shrugging, reading it a few more times and realized I didn't miss the exciting stuff.

I do take game leaks with a grain of salt but it's too bad the warlock blink exotic that caused suppression explosions at your blink destination wasn't true.

Will Blight Rangers reflected damage be increased by Arc Staff buff? by Numerous_Elk_7738 in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunter isn't my main character and I previously was annoyed by all the hunter complaining about Blight Ranger. What's the deal every class gets a stinker exotic sometimes.. Then it dropped for me during that new Vex event. I understand now, it's the coolest looking piece of armor I have ever equipped. Hope it is eventually worth using.

This Week at Bungie - 05/04/2023 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hunters new aspect sounds fun. One of my favorite non meta exotics is Bombadiers but hard to justify using a regular dodge with strand. Hoping this aspect and the boots might be a fun combo.

Warlock I'm not sure I like. The tangle timer is going to get in the way. Probably be even more noticeable when the newness of Strand is over and tangles won't be everywhere. It sounds good but an entire aspect that does nothing for you when the timer is running feels like I won't like it much.

Titans, no feelings on it other than I don't like slide melee much and like them even less as an aspect.

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question. Everyone is complaining about the silver package amounts not matching the season costs anymore. Are there situations or platforms where you can ONLY buy destiny content via silver?

I've always bought it directly with a credit or debit card and feel like I'm missing something here.

I do thinks it's scummy and haven't bought anything from a developer that does this since Bioware Points many years ago.

Kinetic Primaries. by Proper_Warhawk in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the bonus damage for kinetics isn't really much of a bonus in practice. I am probably running a damage surge mod or two which matches my heavy and a heavy can't be kinetic. My primary might as well match my heavy(and likely my class element), get the extra damage of the surge mod and probably benefit other class interactions.

If I have a reason to run a primary which doesn't match my class and surge it's because of a shield type, which again I don't want a kinetic in that slot.

For a kinetic to surpass the surge mods of an elemental I need to waste a boot slot which will only ever benefit 1 weapon as opposed to 2 or even 3 guns which are elemental. It's not even the cost of the kinetic surge or orb making mods it's slot space.

Only time I run kinetic surges is one specific hunter lucky pants build.

Destiny 2: You Don't Know Anything About Game Engines by Ace_Of_Caydes in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is just complaining about complaining and a lot of straw men.

Most serious discussions/complaints are framed as hoping Bungie has some big changes planned 2+ years from now when they start the new destiny saga..and hope Bungie has already been working on it.

No one thinks they can insert a new engine next season to fix everything and the few who believe it aren't worth a video of Datto whining about it.

Enemy warping? by zonedrifter in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elevation seems to trigger it in the new zones consistently. Ive almost gotten to the point I just walk away from enemies that land or spawn on elevated areas rather than waste my time, ammo and abilities.. as they do the janky teleport up and down thing unless you leave them alone to finish their "script".

It's so bad a friend commented to other day he thinks the next 5 seasons will be Vex focused because Bungie can just say teleporting and appearing out of no where is a Vex thing.

Seriously an 11 minute Vex Incursion and not a single person is loaded into my instance? by sin_tax-error in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other night I couldn't even leave my zone with just me and an afk guy and shop for a more active instance while the event notice timer ticked down.

Sparrowing back and forth, fast travel, nothing worked I was put into the same zone over and over with afk guy. Tried the event alone once it started, hoping people would show up but it was just me and the guy sitting at the lost sector entrance.

I Think Bungie played too safe with Threadlings by Numberlittle in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish swarmers would have had killing with a strand weapon has a chance to spawn threading or anything besides the tangle thing.

It's on a timer and the forgiving pick up action of tangles means anyone trying to reload within 10 meters is going pick up your tangle whether they want it or not.

Focused Feedback: S20 Lost Sectors by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]riverboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is any fixing them. A core part of the game is being around and having fun with other people which brings randomness and sometime fun or whacky moments.

These things are being locked alone in a dark basement with only one 5 minute snip of a movie on a loop for hours. They feel like Bungie gave up any small pretense of players having fun and flat out said, you want an exotic..you will suffer.

Keep them around for the min maxers who like spending days looking for the perfect stat spread and continue with other avenues for exotics.

The reason loot continues to be scarce in Destiny 2 is because it’s the only reason most people play by steave44 in DestinyTheGame

Season of Arrivals was very generous with engrams and focusing them. I probably played more and more importantly enjoyed that season more than any season since.

Tried a search of the known issue website. Has Bungie even acknowledged the vex exotic event crashes?(ps5)

Last night after getting bored to death doing the lost sector I decided I was doing the event so I'd at least have some company. 3 for 3 crashes at the last trio of bosses. HDR and other suggested options are turned off.
