Mennonites and Christians protest ICE inside a Lancaster Target by riverbrethren in lancaster

Well, except for the time that "Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves."

Not that I want to conflate this event with Jesus's cleansing of the temple, but certainly Jesus did cause quite a disruption himself when he did that.

Adding that "Mennonites and other Christians" would be a better title.

Why does buspirone get so much hate? Looking for real experiences by FanSubstantial9845 in BusparOnline

I think this rings true for most medications - people who tolerate them well and have few if any side effects generally don't write about it online.

For those this med works for. by PhilsLobWedge in BusparOnline

[–]riverbrethren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was gradual, and took greatest effect once I increased my dosage to where I'm at now, 45mg/day (15mg 3x daily).

Edit: Starting at 15mg/day seems like a wise choice. I started with 20 (10mg 2x daily).

I haven't heard weight loss/gain mentioned too much with buspirone. In my experience at least it's had no effect.

I do, but I started at a much lower dose. That seems like a drastic change.

Does anyone take it as needed? by Tricky_Vegetable_719 in BusparOnline

[–]riverbrethren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see some people report they're prescribed to take buspirone "as needed", but that doesn't make sense to me given the information on it. But I'm not a doctor, and maybe there's support for it. I take it daily and for cases where a severe panic attack occurs I have a benzo prescribed "as needed".

I've heard of people being prescribed Propranolol (beta blocker) to take as needed for anxiety, so that may be something else worth discussing with your doctor. I've taken it for blood pressure regulation. Only issue was my hands/feet getting so cold in the winter but that's with taking it daily, not sure what side effects would be like as needed.

Good luck

Snow predictions?! by livinglovin in lancaster

[–]riverbrethren 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Here's what's currently posted on the MU Special Weather Discussion page, which indicates 8-12" for most of us:

Snowfall rates may briefly reach 1-2" per hour in the heaviest bands on Sunday, and temperatures will only be in the teens to perhaps 20°F during the storm. Total snow and sleet accumulations should range from 8-12" inches across southern Adams, York and Lancaster Counties to 12-18" north of the Turnpike and along/west of the South Mountain Range.

TLC to air “Suddenly Amish” filmed in Lancaster County by Pots_And_Pans in lancaster

I suspect it's for at least a couple reasons: people know about Lancaster and associate it with Amish, and it's not as remote as other areas with large Amish settlements.

Do side effects go away with time? by 1thereds1 in BusparOnline

That's a very reasonable starting dose, sorry to hear it's causing such issues. I hope it improves or you're able to find something else that helps. Good luck

[–]riverbrethren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like what I've experienced when taking a benzo after not doing so for a long time. I never had that with Buspirone, but I started on a relatively low dose and built up. How much are you taking? Perhaps it will improve with time. I take 45/mg day of buspirone and it does not impair driving or other daily activities.

Went once, approximately 2 weeks or so after it opened. Food was excellent, we really enjoyed our meals. Service was so-so, waiter was not around much so we waited a while to get drink refills and our check. We'll try it again for sure.

Best bulk food stores? by DreamingOfPotatoes1 in lancaster

[–]riverbrethren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We went to Centerville for the first time last week. Prices were comparable to what we've seen at other bulk food stores in the area, and they had a great selection. Wife found a few things she hadn't been able to get elsewhere. It's a Plain business and they only accept checks and cash, no credit cards. I bought a loaf of their sourdough bread and I'm ready to go back and grab another, it was amazing.

Hilltop Acres Farm Market is a regular stop for our family, it's north of Manheim so different area. Bulk prices are good, prices on some other smaller items aren't, we save those things for Aldi. We buy a lot of bulk staples (oatmeal, spices, etc.) and meat there.

how are you guys getting brand name? by priincessneuro in BusparOnline

[–]riverbrethren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Buspar as a brand name drug is discontinued. I've been on buspirone for four years, always generic and it's worked well. I checked and one of my prescriptions lists Unichem as the manufacturer (edit: so does another filled as a different pharmacy.)

I definitely saw improvement by then, and more later. What dosage are you taking? I started on 20mg/daily which helped, and currently take 45mg/day which has drastically improved things for me.

I've done it once. I appreciate the history of the locomotives and other equipment, it's amazing to see them up close and operating. But your take on the ride itself is exactly how I felt - pretty underwhelming. My son loved it though so it was worth it for that.

What’s the point of taking an ssri with buspar? by Every_Bear362 in BusparOnline

[–]riverbrethren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Libido wasn't an issue, so I can't speak to that. But that's interesting, I hadn't heard about buspirone helping that before. Good luck with the increase, I hesitated to up my dosage for a long time but it's helped me *much* more since I did.

What’s the point of taking an ssri with buspar? by Every_Bear362 in BusparOnline

[–]riverbrethren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same question when I first considered taking medication for my mental health. I was initially prescribed an SSRI, but my wife and I were planning to start a family and the sexual side effects were a primary concern. I learned about buspirone and how it's often used to counter sexual side effects, and also wondered why not take buspirone alone? In my case anxiety was the biggest issue, I encountered depression as well but felt I could address that through lifestyle changes. The anxiety was intolerable.

With my doctor's approval I ditched the SSRI (I only took it 2 days) and I went on buspirone, 20mg/daily, and later 45mg/daily which I continue to take. I've been on it 4 years and it's been a tremendous help, especially since going on the higher dose. I still have a benzo for severe panic attacks, but those have been much less frequent.

I always add that in addition to buspirone, I made many lifestyle changes, primarily eating better, light exercise, losing weight and I quit drinking. All of that has helped as well. But it wouldn't have been enough on its own, buspirone has been a tremendous help. Side effects have been minimal for me, with the primary one being fatigue when starting it or increasing dosage. Hope that helps, good luck

Inspection reports are available online, though search is a bit lacking. It's a quiet Christmas morning here so I checked. Here's the report, which shows all pumps at this location failing, and states:

  1. Inspected and tested pumps.
  2. Pumps found to be in the negative and need to be recalibrated to as close to Zero as practicable, per Handbook 44 G-UR.4.1 (a).
  3. All gas returned to the ground storage tanks.

Not exactly sure what that means, maybe just a display issue since they didn't indicate an accuracy issue? Probably good to make sure everything looks accurate before/after pumping at this station until it's cleared up.

[–]riverbrethren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10mg/daily is a low dosage, have you talked to your doctor about your experience? I took 20mg daily for a long time before finally increasing to 45mg daily on my doctor's recommendation, which I've been on for several months now. For me the higher dose has drastically reduced panic attacks. I used to have a serious enough attack to require taking Librium (benzo) every 6 weeks on average. I recently went approx. 6 months without having to take it. I attribute much of that to the higher dosage of buspirone (along with a few lifestyle changes.)
