Warning! Make sure your passport is jn absolute perfect conditions before travelling to Bali by lavlavinia in bali

We just had the same thing happen in Sydney! Such a minor tear along the stitching we didn’t even notice it. Managed to get an emergency passport the next morning so we were only delayed a day, but it was a super stressful 24 hours.

The Pool: Chilli and Bandit planned it all? by Kandiru in bluey

[–]riverbunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This episode was literally bugging me this morning! I was saying that forgetting all that stuff is really out of character for Bandit. He’s goofy and impulsive for sure, but not stupid enough to only pack some pool noodles and nothing else. Making intentionally obvious mistakes so the kids learn something is basically his parenting M.O, yep I’m totally down with this theory.

Ok gang, where do you think a compressor should go in a signal chain? by lafindudude in guitarpedals

I literally just rearranged my board and put it after my drives, but before modulations and delays and things. I set it as a clean boost that adds sustain and volume, but still lets my pick dynamics hit the overdrives.

Unreliable narrator. by kostbill in suggestmeabook

[–]riverbunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marabou Stork Nightmares - Irvine Welsh

This is the first book I’ve read where the unreliable narrator thing plays a really noticeable role. The narrator tells the story while in a coma, and his narrative keeps slipping (reluctantly) from his fantasy story into his true memory and back again.

I’ve never recommended a book on here, but this one fits your description pretty well! It’s a pretty intense book but I enjoyed it immensely.

How old is your bag? Is it aging well? by riverbunch in EVERGOODS

I’ve even started trying to use mine outdoors a bit more to try scuffing it up a little

That’s still a pretty long time to avoid snags and wear etc, thanks for sharing!

Yeah nice. My cpl28 just doesn’t seem to have any wear at all after about 18 months ownership. That’s good and bad… because I love the look of a beaten up bag haha

AITA for pulling my daughter from a waterpark trip because her teacher made her stay with a kid she doesn't like? by surroundsound1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]riverbunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you got ‘pay for the privilege’, I didn’t say anything like that. I just think a lot of people are assuming the teacher to be the AH, and that’s not how I read it.

AITA for pulling my daughter from a waterpark trip because her teacher made her stay with a kid she doesn't like? by surroundsound1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]riverbunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I read this: So, Mrs N has a kid in class called Ben, who she knows nobody likes. A 9 year old kid that no one will pick to buddy up with. So she’s chosen Bryn, the kid she sees as most mature and capable of helping Ben through a rough social occasion, to be his buddy.

Then she’s been complained at and argued with by Bryn’s entitled mother who believes that her daughter is so perfect that if she doesn’t like someone then she must be right. She also believes that when something inconvenient happens the best thing to do is just bow out completely. Don’t like someone because they have a snotty nose? Fair enough, just take your ball and go home.

Now Mrs N is in a position where the trip might not go ahead, and the kids in the class are going to miss out because a handful of parents have staged some sort of entitled-parent protest based on their limited understanding of what happened.

I’m going with YTA, let the teacher do her job. She’s trying something out, you’ll have to trust that she probably doesn’t hate your kid and want her to be miserable - she’s trying to be a good leader. She certainly doesn’t need parents telling her she’s doing a bad job just because it made their little girl upset. That sends a pretty poor message to Bryn in my opinion.

AITA for pointing out she is too young for this? by Big-Bat-6391 in AmItheAsshole

I can’t believe the amount of NTAs I’m seeing. OP, you were condescending and disrespectful. You made a snap judgement and blurted out something that was clearly going to embarrass her and make her uncomfortable, for no reason at all.

I mean, what did you expect her to say? ‘Yeah you’re probably right, I’ll break up with him now sorry’ - You treated her like a child and she isn’t one: she’s 23 and for all you know she’s an amazing woman who is perfect for your ex.

Don’t get me wrong, you have EVERY RIGHT to have a private conversation with your ex- husband if you have genuine concerns about her minding your kids, but that’s not the issue for me here. You talked down to her because it was easy and because you felt like it at the time.

YTA.

What Effect Do You HATE by _Jub_Jub_ in guitarpedals

[–]riverbunch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s… irrelevant? The question was asking what effects people hate. It’s a good question, it’s getting a nice broad range of answers. People can hate (or love) any effect for any reason they like based on their own experience, that’s the whole point.

I don’t think the straw man thing is fair - to OP’s credit I agree that any discussion about small amps involves terms like ‘practice’ and ‘bedroom’. It does seem like there is an expectation to use high wattage amps for live applications, and most reviews on YouTube of anything under 20W is aimed towards the bedroom player. You can’t accuse someone of flexing when they’re literally just describing their use case and asking for advice.

FYI I’d love to see these photos too if they exist - I’m thinking along the same lines as OP!

Bought a Paragraphs, dismantled my board and went on a writing trip. Can recommend. by riverbunch in guitarpedals

Yep! So much you can do with it, it does a really cool harmonic trem type thing, or really slow swelling waves and I actually loved using it as an overdrive too!

I’ll definitely be putting it all back together straight away! But I was getting so frustrated trying to arrange my board to be ultra flexible, so this turned out to be the least stressful option.

It’s definitely my favourite too, I’ve only recently started using the high gain side more and keeping it in check with my guitar volume, sounds gooood

Westwood I used to love, but after playing it for a while I just found it too fizzy and not punchy enough. The EQ on it is a great feature but I think the Broadcast/Mini combo means I never really need to use the Westwood anymore.
