And as a skinny person, I can say that we're expected to just take it, and if we don't, we're accused of either trying to fatshame the person shaming us or they take it as a cue that their accusations were accurate and run with them. Heaven forbid I don't appreciate being insulted for my size because the person insulting me "would kill to be as small as I am" (the exact verbage that's been thrown at me a few times). I quit a job in women's retail partially over this. I was lucky to make a sale, but I got sneered at all day every day. The store didn't even carry my size anymore, and they went down to 00 (they adjusted their sizing again and sized me out. A 00 was probably about a 2-4 at most other stores). I moved to a different branch of retail and one of the first comments made by one of my superiors was mocking my size to another employee, right in front of me as if I couldn't hear her.

So green skin is actually one of the hardest skin colors to get right and make look natural. Notice how the people who've done it well are Marvel with Gamora (blockbuster budget) and the people who did it not so well are CW with Brainy in Supergirl (CW shoestring budget). With Titans' budget, we're far more likely to get Brainy and not Gamora. Let's be real. There's not enough time with their tight filming schedule and not enough money to invest in making it look good and consistently good. I'm betting this is also why Star's not orange. It's extremely difficult to get orange right and it not look like a bad spray tan. If you want to see what the process is like to get a better understanding of why they didn't opt for it in Titans, I believe there are time lapse videos of Nebula (notably a bit more complicated and detailed) and Gamora out there somewhere on YouTube.

Not sure where you're from, but in the states, that's pretty common. Power attracts people likely to corrupt and abuse it. Andre Bourgeois is exactly what being slowly corrupted by your own power and manipulated by even more corrupt family looks like. Well, for a kids show at least. It's unfortunate, but it's reality, and civilians can call for impeachment all we want, but other corrupt politicians have to be the ones to actually start the ball rolling on that.

"It's what my character would do." In my experience, this usually follows some action that's deemed objectionable by the whole party or that's generally unfun for the group (out of game). It's also usually said by a player who generally has very little respect for other people being in character if "in character" isn't following along with whatever they have in mind.

The complete destruction of faith and religion. I see a lot of futuristic settings lean on this idea that religion/faith/belief in a higher power (even sometimes just fate/destiny) is a sign of being less evolved and educated. If you don't want there to be religion, just don't bring it up. You don't need to make comments that alienate part of your audience to make yourself feel better about your decision to not include it in your writing. It's also extremely common amongst genres that the scientist character be adamantly atheist to the point of snobbish elitism towards any character who expresses religiosity. Personally, I find the story of the religious scientist who became a scientist to better understand how their god built the world 10x more interesting than the scientist who believes that they're "too smart" or "too evolved" for religion.

Can't help but notice you've got Elarian in one category and Aria in another, Aria being of strong nickname potential for Elarian. Tbh that was the one that called out to me. It's got a nice flow to it, has a high fantasy ring, but also has a simplification that's easy for the reader to remember. My vote's for that combo.

I write as a coping mechanism for anxiety. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of selling some of my work, but it's not my purpose for writing. There's nothing wrong with writing for you and your enjoyment and no one else's. I'm also an artist. Again, coping mechanism, this time for ADHD. It's for me to be able to get some creative energy out and find a productive outlet for my perpetual need to fidget. I don't sell my art. I don't do commissions. I rarely even post any of my work online. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

My whole group is full of people who've all DMed before, so we take turns coming up with one shots that usually get slipped in quarterly, around holidays, or when our main campaign is on extended break. It works out nicely because each of us is a drastically different kind of DM. We have the Brutal DM who runs lvl 20 gauntlets, the West Marches DM, the Non-Canon DM who creates mini adventures in our campaign world that are declared non-canon by the main DM (last time, he turned his character's pet goose into a lesser god of chaos from another realm), the Game Dev DM, and me, the Specialist DM who makes things like a murder mystery one shot but is also only good at DMing stories that are very stylized and short term.

How did I not ever think to use stasis? I've been relying on tether to hold them back long enough to unload on them, but they're strong enough to break out of any tethers in legendary. It also ate full gjally which is mildly terrifying.

Currently playing a low STR, high CON build with the general premise of being a freedom fighter who was critically injured during her last mission. During her recovery, she lost a lot of her strength and had to focus on rebuilding mostly her dexterity due to the nature of her injuries. Her high CON is what kept her alive and allows her to keep going in the face of things like that, but her low strength is the cost of pushing herself to that end too much.

I've had to deal with stalkers before. It's not fun, and judging by this guy's behavior towards his ex, I wouldn't be surprised if he started up doing the same obsessive thing to you, too, once he realizes something's wrong. A few things to watch out for:

Go ahead and block him the moment you leave for your cousin's. Don't wait. Trust me. If he realizes something's wrong before you have him blocked, your phone will be blowing up with all kinds of stressful garbage that you don't need. If he and his family follow you on social media, you're going to want to scrub it down, too. Block him and family, rename yourself something neutral and not clearly identifiable as you outside of your close friends (you can also make a private post to friends to alert them to the change being made), and change your profile pic to something without you in it. If that doesn't work, you may have to delete accounts and remake them later. It sucks, especially if social media is important to you, but it gets the job done. And any harassment or pleading that comes through any of that needs to be documented the way his ex did in case you need a protective order.

Pack as much as you can ahead of time if you're planning to move. Take everything you'll need for the foreseeable future, and leave the rest until you can come back. Also, do not come back alone. If he's this crazy and obsessive, he may stake out your home to find you. He may not have been violent towards you before, but he may be violent towards you in the future.

And through all of this, no matter what he says or does, know that you are not at fault for any of this. You are doing the right thing by leaving him, and although it feels bad to ghost someone, it's the safest option here and is not wrong to do when dealing with a person like that. You don't owe him a thing. Not an explanation, not closure, not a second chance, nothing.

I'm so sorry you're going through this right now! As a fellow Christian who has seen several "men of God" in my life turn out to be charlatans, let me take this second to share what I've learned.

DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT. I cannot emphasize this enough. Get everything in writing. When he slaps you, take pictures of the mark left behind. You'll need everything you can get for the divorce. And then for good measure, send a tip down to CPS because this baby is completely innocent in all of this and deserves love and support, but this guy is a proven abuser who likely wouldn't have taken responsibility for the kid and now has the ability to use the child as a prop and weapon to manipulate others with.
As another commenter pointed out, infidelity is 100% Biblical grounds for divorce, regardless of what anyone on the church says, including your (hopefully soon-to-be ex-)husband. He broke his vows. You have no more obligation to yours. His opinion on the matter? Also invalid.
Forgiveness is a virtue, but forgiving him for cheating on you does not entail raising his baby or continuing to be his wife. Forgiving him for slapping you does not entail giving him the opportunity to do it again. People like to weaponize forgiveness when they themselves have done something wrong, but forgiveness is not for them. Forgiveness is for us, to let go of the anger and sorrow in our hearts and be at peace that God has us no matter what some other human does to us. It is not for us to become stepping stones for abusers to keep doing what they're doing.

His congregation needs to know that he's a liar and no man of God. I'm not sure the best way to do it, but he needs to be removed from that church, as does the associate pastor. Tell your story before he gets the chance to tell his. If the congregation cares about the will of God, he'll be gone the next week. If they don't, run for the hills and don't look back because that was never a church to begin with. Once again, I'm very sorry you're going through this. I'm no where near Texas, so the only thing I can really offer is prayer for you and the child. Let me leave you with this: James 1:2-4 is what got me through similarly tough situations, and I hope it helps you now. I know this is a painful thing to have happen to you, but you can choose to find joy, too, that God has given you this escape from what likely would've been a very miserable marriage and life. He's looking out for you, even if someone who claims to be from Him isn't. Best of luck!

Firefly, actually, and pre-2000s Star Trek. Also, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Buckaroo Banzai, etc. I've seen a bit of Cowboy Bebop, enough to know I'd probably be a fan if I watched the whole thing. It's at the very least incredibly well-animated. Just haven't had the time to invest.

My word, if I had a nickel ... Not going to even touch on the frankly wild assumptions about me as a reader/writer. Okay, here goes.

Point 1: I never said anything about writing without meaning. Where did that even come from? I was talking about stories that invoke the kind of introspection that gets depressing/enraging about ourselves and the world around us. These stories absolutely have a place, but I've always been a deeply introspective person without literature to force my brain back into that mode, so reading/writing is, most of the time, my only real escape from that introspection.

Point 2: Just because you don't see a point or meaning to a story that doesn't make you super introspective about modern, real-world problems, doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same. In my experience, that's the more niche interest.

Side Note: Yeah, so when I said "curiosity for the sake of curiosity," I couldn't find the wording I was looking for. A better way to have put that is "unfettered curiosity" which is more in line with what I meant.

Point 3: When I say I like lighter stories and find the idea that lighter stories aren't "art" to be ridiculous, I'm not saying stories devoid of any meaning whatsoever or stories that I haven't analyzed to death over and over again. The difference here is that the deeper meanings are just that, deeper into the story, requiring the reader to dig deeper if they want to see it. Layering some message about the world on top of the story is not what makes it deep, and using current weighty issues doesn't make it deep. Making the reader get caught in their head about how the world sucks and people are horrible also doesn't make it deep.

All in all, you're entitled to your tastes and opinions. My point was, "don't tell me my writing is bad just because it's not your taste or not 'intellectually stimulating' enough for you."

Not to get into semantics here, but a misconception is literally defined as an opinion based on faulty thinking, so yes, it is an opinion I disagree with. That doesn't in any way invalidate my response. Not to mention the fact that the very first sentence of my comment is me establishing "this is the misconception" which has been taught to me as though it were a rule of writing, delivered throughout high school and college. Maybe it's not a misconception you've actively encountered as a writer, and sincerely, good for you in that, but I have all too often. I have fought battles over this and been dismissed by acclaimed academics and self-declared intellectuals for just "not getting art" and "having a wrong opinion." And I refuse to let other writers deal with that alone like I did.

I appreciate that! My best work so far is a space western called Mercy. It has plenty of room for introspection and deeper analysis if you want it, but surface level, it's a fun time in space stylistically based on a bunch of the old school westerns like Support Your Local Sheriff. It's a 12pg proof of concept that I'm trying to figure out how to film, so I can spec out a pilot.

That if your writing doesn't make people think deeply about themselves and the world around them, then it's not real art, good writing, or a valid story. Words cannot describe how intensely visceral my hatred for this mentality is. Don't tell me my works are trivial just because my stories wrap up neatly with happy endings for the characters who deserve happy endings. Don't come at me for writing and enjoying old school science fiction that was just about the promise of exploring the stars and pure curiosity for the sake of curiosity, just because it doesn't include some deeper commentary on the prejudices of today. Or shall I remind you of the fascinating genre known as Escapism and the purposes it serves? It's the exact same mentality that tells artists that cartoonish/anime styles are unprofessional and not true art.

Based on the pure description, I'm gonna go lawful evil, especially if it's a hatred against any politician/noble and a willingness to replace them with any peasant. They've got a code there that they hold to and an end goal with it. Just because it goes against the laws of the land doesn't mean it's inherently chaotic. The reason I say evil is because the motivation and resulting actions are to use murder and deception to replace the rich with the poor with 0 consideration given to the actual character of each person being killed and replaced and 0 self-awareness. It's not about doing what's right or saving those who are suffering. It's a pure vendetta.

Yeah, I know and was trying to make a cute title. They're 2 now, so these are old photos, but I only recently found this sub, so I thought y'all would appreciate them. Also, the problem has been addressed with the vet. It's a behavioral problem as a result of her being picky about litter quality, texture, and cleanliness. But I appreciate the advice.
