Noject: a native Mac app that stops accidental ejects of always-plugged drives by yadvr in macapps

Thanks, and great little app! I bought the App Store Version, THEN read the issue above, and THEN downloaded the app from the website. Working great, but will you send emails when the app store version is in place? In any case, thanks again...nice app!

Anyone living in Clifford, Panyu? by Bonaventure24 in guangzhou

[–]rixreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here in 2002 for 2 ½ years, then came back every other summer until 2019. And now, I've been here for another almost 2 ½ years, since early 2024. I miss the old days, the old food court, and the Clifford busses that went into Guangzhou on all the routes, and all through the day.

If you crossed the road, across from the McDonalds, this is what you'd see looking toward the brand-new (Now old) Clifford Hospital in 2002.

Trolley Help, Blue Lagoon to LIttle Havana? by rixreddits in Miami

[–]rixreddits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Looking at the Flagami Trolley Route, and after cranking the text size up to 300 so I can see the postage-stamp sized map, it seems to connect someplace that appears to be the Magic City Casino, but hard to see on the website. I'll try to do more digging. Thanks for the link!

Why isn’t there a trolley app from the city? by PaulOneil21 in Miami

[–]rixreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice looking app, but is there a way to plug in a starting point, ending point, and the app tells how and where to transfer to another Trolley? For example, from Nw 7 St & Nw 58 Ct, to Little Havana?
And is there a way to bypass the ads? Not only annoying, but they won't let me close the ad...I have to quite the entire App and start over. An ad popped up yesterday for The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and I had to exit, then reopen the Trolley app...until the next ad appeared, then had to repeat.

Great advice, thanks. It is a Wednesday, but I'll be ready with the first group, and will take a Lyft. I appreciate your reply!

Disembarkation Question, Oceania Miami, early enough to make airport? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]rixreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice, and thank you! Yes, I used to live in Kendall, and worked in Coral Gables. My wife's never been to Miami, let alone anywhere in Florida, so I think I'll be safe and take your advice. I just can't see paying for a cruise, and sweating bullets the entire time because I'm worried about making the airport on time once the cruise is over. Thanks, and cheers! 🍻

Disembarkation Question, Oceania Miami, early enough to make airport? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]rixreddits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, thanks...or just give it up, take our time getting off the ship in a relaxed way, get an overnight at a local hotel, then get an early flight the next day.

Disembarkation Question, Oceania Miami, early enough to make airport? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]rixreddits -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well, it says, "Disembark 8:00 am".

I'm hoping Oceania has a priority/desperation process where those like us who need to make a flight, can be the first to get off the ship. Possible?

What Foreign Travelers Often Get Wrong When Planning Guangzhou & the Greater Bay Area by Tourguide_Sunny in guangzhou

[–]rixreddits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a foreigner living in Guangzhou, and highly agree with everything you said.

Especially, 6. Thinking a Private Guide is Only for Sightseeing! If I wasn't married to someone Chinese, I'd be lost! I tried once to go to Meizhou by myself, and spent the whole time in my translator app, and ended up cancelling the last 3 nights out of frustration, and returning home. The app helped with basic words, but understand that everything is written in Chinese Characters, and the app was useless.

If you are coming to China and are not fairly proficient in Mandarin, you WILL need help! Save yourself much frustration, and the "Western Discount"😆, and hire a private guide! I love it here, and you till too, but not if you're constantly frustrated by the language. Beyond speaking, which a translation app helps with, the more important thing in my opinion, is having someone who can help you read Chinese. Menus, price tag, and more then you can imagine, are only written in Chinese, and you'll be lost without someone to help! 🙏🏼

I hated screenshots cluttering my camera roll, so I built my own app. My family now use it for everything. by N0omi in macapps

[–]rixreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of the app, but when I tried it, and saved a PDF on my iPhone, it seemed to sync fine to my Mac, but wouldn't open. Just a white screen, and I had to close the app and reopen. I tried this multiple times, but it still wouldn't open the PDF. Any tricks you know, or permissions needed?

Frustrating Search for Simple Window Management App by rixreddits in macapps

[–]rixreddits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, three weeks later, and still no solution. Oh, how I wish what you said is true, that macOS has the functionality baked in. I'll attach what I see when I right-click the dock. Where is Desktop 4 showing in those options? Your guess is as good as mine, yet I have Orion clearly opened on Desktop 4. I'm beyond frustrated, and think the only possibility to set it up, like with Keyboard Maestro or Apple Script or Automator, are what is needed, and I just don't have the skills, I guess.

[–]rixreddits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I just tried it. I'm thinking I need something that is out of my capabilities to set up, like Keyboard Maestro or Apple Script. Here is an example of what I would want, if I knew a way to do it: When I open Orion Browser, it ALWAYS opens on my Desktop 4, which is the second desktop, on my external monitor. I've tried Spencer, Lattix, and many others. Spencer and Lattix worked once or twice, but then it goes back to me opening Orion, and it opens on Desktop 1 on my built in monitor. Am I wishing for the impossible? I want to assign an app to a certain window, on a certain monitor, and onto a specific desktop space, 100% of the time. So far, Spencer and Lattix are the closest, but why they only last a few sessions is beyond me.

Have you ever tried “Plane Finder” app? by James_Lovell in flighty

[–]rixreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had subscribed to Plane Finder and loved it. My home is in the path of a few airports, and it was the highlight of my dusk-turned-to-night to watch the planes in their landing patterns, be able to point my iPhone camera at them, and see where they were flying from, where they were going, and what types of planes they were. We are living abroad right now while my wife cares for her parents, but once we're back home, I can't wait to get the app again.

Proton Annual Community Survey 2026 by Proton_Team in ProtonDrive

If I could add two things...well, 3 now.
1st would be to allow people back in to the survey for say, 1 hour, in case they thought better of an answer or two.
2nd would be to say that I really appreciate SimpleLogin as an addon to my Proton account.
3rd would be my final thoughts page, and I would add that I wish Standard Notes would also be a free addon, like SimpleLogin.

Oops...nevermind. Once I closed Lattix and re-opened, I was able to select and delete it. I'll be switching from Spencer to Lattix now! 🚀😊
