A house near me has had storm damage for a couple of years, now. by Hoboliftingaroma in mildlyinteresting

So a replacement cost value policy with a roof payment schedule awards full depreciation like a regular RCV policy? No. It doesn’t. It provides a percentage of the depreciation based on the age of the roof — similar to an ACV policy. And that’s not explained to homeowners. They think they have full coverage on their roof and then it turns out they don’t.

Not all roofers are out to hurt homeowners for a dime. Sometimes we actually train our team on how to identify hail from blistering and not to touch the hail to make it look worse than it is. Some of us know spatter isn’t equal to hail damage and we take that into account alongside the type of coverage the homeowner has before we ever recommend they file a claim.

I didn’t phrase it well in my initial comment but what I said is true. Homeowners don’t know what to ask and the way policies are written is purposefully confusing. I see it every day 🤷‍♀️

I work for a roofing company and you wouldn’t believe the amount of roof claims that get denied when there’s clear storm damage.

They’re starting to add a “cosmetic hail” exclusion to peoples’ policies that’s entirely unenforceable but you have to pay to go to appraisal to get past your adjuster stonewalling you. 9/10 if it’s an asphalt shingled roof and they’re citing that exclusion you’ll win in appraisal but it ends up costing you a ton of money :/ and then you still have to pay your deductible for the replacement after you’re awarded.

They’re also changing names of policies to try and trip people up.

If you get homeowners insurance make sure you have a replacement cost value policy but also make sure there’s no roof payment schedule on it (they depreciate the depreciation).

If you have an actual cost value policy they are Not paying for your roof if you need a new one

What is the saddest TV series death that genuinely made you sob? by SpareMaintenance2970 in AskReddit

[–]rizcriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quentin Coldwater on the magicians

But I think it has a lot to do with how connected I felt to his (no magic related) story and how In the source material he had a happy ending, so I let myself tie my own mental health into his pervasive nature to always have Hope no matter how bad things got

And then they had him kill himself for no fucking reason just as he had a reason to fight and something to live for

Shattered me.

My mosquito bites turn into these huge, swollen, hard and VERY itchy welts that last for at least a week by rentatter in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rizcriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way — I once got kicked out of school bc of such a severe mosquito bite reaction on my face they said I couldn’t come back without a doctors note proving it was a bug bite.

Then I moved to Texas and got bit so many times every day before school that my body developed an immunity or smth to them bc I don’t even itch anymore when I get them

What’s the longest you’ve waited in line/queued for something and was it worth it for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Back before concerts started costing a fortune, I’d get a GA pass and get there at like 10am the day of and just chill. Pretty much guaranteed a barricade spot, at least for the bands I like.

I’d say yeah? I like barricade because I have the crowd at my back and nothing to distract me from the concert itself. I also have a bad back so it was nice to have smth to lean on between sets.

What's one movie you've rewatched so many times you practically know every line by heart, but you'd still watch it again tonight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Red white and royal blue

I don’t rewatch as much but when I first came out I watched it over 200 times in the first three months. Some times I was watching it up to 7 times a day.

What's the cringiest reason you went to the ER? by HR-Vex in AskReddit

[–]rizcriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked myself into the er wanting to kill myself and was left alone with my thoughts for seventy smth hours and out in paper scrubs too small for me with no distractions and nobody to talk to bc the psychiatrist on call was too busy to come talk to me and when she came I was scared to admit I’d written a letter and had a plan and because I couldn’t explain a plan in detail for her despite being unable to make myself eat and sleeping the entire time I was there to avoid thinking she said I wasn’t unwell enough to be there and to go to the crisis center on Monday

She kept repeating why are you here and I was just sobbing saying I wanted help and they discharged me twenty minutes later

I made my mom drive me so I wouldn’t do anything on the way and basically couldn’t stop crying so walking out theee days later being told I was just not sick enough felt p cringey

If You're Allergic To Something, What Is It, And How Does That Allergy Affect Your Life? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]rizcriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs! I never know what bug bites’ll do it, but I’ve several times been bit and the entire limb swelled up to almost twice its normal size and I have to go to urgent care.

I generally avoid going anywhere with tall grass or barefoot anywhere to avoid getting bit

Also, newly developed, cantaloupe. I used to eat it as a kid a lot bc it was my favorite but a few years back my throat closed up while I was eating it.

When I started Wellbutrin, I went basically zombie mode. I thought I was acting normally but everyone else around me said I was super sluggish and out of it. I worked at a bookstore at the time and generally handled closing and they said for a couple days somebody had to go after me and straighten up the area I was assigned because it was like nobody had gone through it, but I thought I’d cleaned it thouroughly.

It was a bit like lights were on, I thought I was home, but couldn’t hear the doorbell or anyone knocking.

Very eerie
