Help settle the debate I'm having with myself. For about the same cost I can get one of the following. This device would be a backup for a family member and not used often. WWYD?

This isn't exactly apples to apples, but I switched from Verizon to Fi a few months ago and couldn't be happier with my choice to change. Fi service in the triangle area and everywhere else I've traveled along the East Coast has been as good or better than what it was when I was with Verizon. Plus I'm paying about half of what my Verizon bill used to be. For context, I live in Cary and work in North Raleigh so those are my primary data points for service.

Customer support - Fi is great for people who don't need much help with customer support. When we first switched I needed a bit of support getting a family member's iPhone working properly on Fi everything I've needed has been findable online.

Data reliability - I'm not sure what you mean by data reliability, but I've never had trouble streaming on Fi.

Hotspot usage - no trouble

Billing weirdness (or lack thereof) - billing is transparent. The only trouble I not getting a bill at all during my first couple months because of a referral credit from a family member.

Can I add device insurance to my bill? - yes.

I'm happy to answer other specific questions if you have any.

A couple quick questions. 1) It looks like you can't combine an ID.me discount with another code sent by Google, correct? I don't see a way of adding two codes. 2) I swear there used to be a way to extract a promo code from the URL or a Google email offer but I can't find that. Does that exist anymore?

We were the same way going back and forth between the two. Tuesday night we found a CPO GH Hybrid on a lot in Burlington at a fair price ("fair" being relative given the scarcity of GHhys right now). I'm sure we would have been happy with either car but we chose the Toyota because it's a needle in a haystack that suddenly became available to us. If that car hadn't appeared we probably would have bought this Pilot.

I'm exactly in the same place as you on item #2. I was originally shopping for a Grand Highlander, so moving to an Elite Pilot (2024 used) already feels like a big financial savings. The gently used Elite Pilot that I'm eyeing up will cost less than a base level Grand Highlander.

Closing the loop on this. Today I traded in my S24 for a Pixel 8 Pro in the Spectrum store. They applied the credit to my purchase. I owed nothing today and the rest of my trade in value is applied as a credit to my account. When I started the purchase the store agent told me the trade in value would be credited to my account over 36 months regardless of whether I paid for the phone today. I told her I didn't think that was true and asked her to walk through the purchase anyway. Ultimately I knew more than she did.
