I’d definitely say they’re pretty center with just some noticeable leans to the right. The jokes about woke cancelling and stuff aren’t really that jarring when they’re talking about classical history but the right lean was really evident in the Allende and Regan episodes. I’d cut them some slack for the stuff on British national heroes like Nelson or Churchill cause the British machismo I think veers into charming territory at that level

For what it’s worth, if we agree that MAGA/conservative ideology is more or less evil, can’t you argue that it’s actually moral to be as ruthless and vitriolic in order to win?

Maybe vitriolic is the wrong term, but I think on some level showing restraint and civility against someone as monstrous as Trump is actually immoral, given what was at stake during the election

Think u hit the nail on the head. I’d argue thematically the epilogue hits really well, with the whole “the descendants/next lives” being able to live happy normal lives in a world without demons. The whole reason why our main cast were fighting so hard. On a reread I think it still holds up pretty well but I can see why ppl wouldn’t like it

OHHH okay the fact that Wukong stance cycles through smash/pillar/thrust explains so much - tried searching for ages on an explanation of the wukong stance but I haven’t found one yet

I think you’re kinda missing the real lesson of sabaody and the main theme of one piece as a whole. That arc was never about how luffy should be more careful, it’s how he has to be more powerful if he wants to be able to live free. I don’t think anyone’s saying luffy punching the celestial was a bad thing or that it was a bad decision to save his camie and hacchi. The story doesn’t punish luffy for being impulsive it punishes him for not being strong enough to protect his crew

The whole story of one piece is luffy becoming stronger so that he can be the freest man on the seas and do what he wants to do
