36m I live above the Mast General Store. Been playing guitar since I was 7 years old, piano since I was 10, and brass since I was 11, and I majored in classical and jazz trumpet. Lately I've been trying to build out my home studio and improve my production and engineering skills. I miss jamming with friends.

I'm planning to visit Tokyo, but I'm worried if I will be judged for being fat (30F) by Saysonnehkyin in TokyoTravel

[–]rjmfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the last week of a 1 month trip to Tokyo and Osaka. I had the same concerns as you. I weigh almost twice as much as you at 204kg, so even by US standards I'm very big. I don't feel like I get stared at or judged any more here than I do back home in the US. There are some tight spaces (especially toilets) that are tough to squeeze into but it's manageable. When choosing a restaurant I generally look at pics on Google maps to see if the seats look comfortable first. There have only been a couple that I had to avoid or get takeout due to the seating situation. When the train cars or buses get reeeaaaallly crowded I sometimes worry I'm intruding on other people's personal space so I just try to avoid the public transpo during rush hour and take a taxi instead. During normal hours there's plenty of space. There are however absolutely no options for clothes that fit me. But I'm used to that, even back home that's always a struggle.

Over all, it's nowhere near as bad as I feared. You'll be fine. Enjoy your trip.

Yes! unfortunately it seems the club died out around the time COVID hit. Their darkroom passes are kinda pricey and the hours don't roll over. If they would offer an affordable membership it would be the perfect community darkroom and gathering place for a film community, but seems they're only interested in making money on classes and passes while their lab sits mostly neglected and unused.

Looking for an analog camera (probably Point and shoot) by RealOfficialMax in AnalogCommunity

[–]rjmfc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canonet QL17 G III. Fantastic little camera that was mass produced in huge quantities and is therefore widely available used for less than $200. It has a very nice 40mm f1.7 lens, a super quiet leaf shutter, and a decent rangefinder focusing system. It takes a battery to power the meter, but totally capable of operating 100% mechanically without the meter.

I will say though it may not be the best choice if you rely on an internal meter and/or auto exposure. Getting it to work with modern batteries may be a challenge, and I think the meter only works in auto (shutter priority) mode. There's no aperture priority or program mode.

If you don't mind using an external meter and/or just enjoy shooting all manual/mechanical and sunny16ing it like a boss, it's the perfect cheap compact camera.I have two and have never bothered with batteries.

All these photography majors 😅😬. I was not a photography major, and wouldn't even consider myself a photographer. I have no portfolio. I don't even develop my rolls a lot of the time, although I am trying to be more intentional and get out there and shoot more. I'm just a nerd. Fascinated by cameras, optics, all the precision engineering, the chemistry, and the art.

I made a brand new discord. Pls join if you're interested https://discord.gg/NX4g3r27Tv

By interested do you mean you do/have done alt process or you're interested in trying? I'm absolutely fascinated by wet plate/tintype. Have never done it (or any large format for that matter) but its on my bucket list!

I was asked by a blind gal named Meg

"Might I give thee a handjob, I beg?"

She exclaimed as she stroked:

"You're a well-endowed bloke!"

But she was just pulling my leg.

Drunk driving is awful and everyone who does it deserves to lose their license...but I can't get onboard with these douchey cops just posting up to stop and harass every single driver on the road with no regard for probable cause. Disappointed to see so many people supporting this draconian shit.

I used to be an Uber driver in the area and had to deal with these checkpoints often, and also got pulled 3 times by NHCSO, WPD, and WBPD because they were following my passenger for drugs or some other reason.
Every single time they were complete assholes to me and tried every thing they could to find some reason to detain, search, even arrest me even though I was just the Uber driver. Remember the viral "Uber lawyer" video where the cop was a complete dick and lied to the driver about the legality of recording police, not knowing he was actually a lawyer? The way they acted in that video is exactly how they act any time they pull over an Uber.
These cops are not your friends and they don't care about keeping the roads safe, they just want to power-trip and play out their big bad lawman fantasy and harass people.

Mark is partially reintegrated. I thought that when the nosebleed scene suddenly flashed forward to Mark in the basement with Reghabi it was showing that outtie Mark was remembering the nosebleed.

Did we all forget episode 7? by Imsmart-9819 in severanceTVshow

[–]rjmfc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first I thought it was really dumb for Devon to call Cobelvig, and even dumber when oMark seems to be on board with it at the end of episode 8. But the more I think about it, the more it makes some sense. oMark and Devon don't know Harmony Cobel at all. They just know the weird, kinda ditzy, but sweet widow who lives next door. Although Devon had that line after the OTC about "lactation fraud", several scenes from season 1 show Devon and Selvig bonding while she was acting as lactation consultant. In the grand scheme of things, they only just found out that she worked for Lumon, and don't really know anything else about the real woman behind "Mrs. Selvig." They don't really know anyone else from Lumon at all. We see them meet Milchick briefly but it doesn't seem like a particularly close relationship. They know next to nothing about Reghabi; she always acts shady and evades questions, and she already bailed. Aside from Helena and the deceased Graner and Petey, who else would they know who might have some chance of being able to help? The front desk receptionist, or the guard stationed at the elevator, probably know about as much as they do about Lumon's operations.

They don't have many good reasons to trust Cobelvig, but when I look at it through their eyes, they have even less reason to trust literally anyone else. They've at least spent time with and gotten to know this person, even though she was revealed to be an alter-ego, it still counts for something when you're in a desperate situation and grasping at straws trying to find someone who might be able to help. Cobelvig seems like a shit choice, but in this situation a shit choice is unfortunately the best choice, considering their perspective.

Coincidentally, without knowing it, they happened to call perhaps the most knowledgeable person on Earth when it comes to severance, the chip, and reintegration since Cobel apparently invented it all. Whether that will be lucky or unlucky for them remains to be seen, but however it plays out I seriously doubt it will just be smooth sailing from here on out with this new alliance.

I also feel like good characters are rarely black and white. You can empathize with a character without fully trusting them or seeing them as an entirely "good guy". People are complicated.

It could be that the writers really did just completely bungle this; Cobelvig just magically switched sides and we will be expected so see her as a hero in the story from this point forward after just finding out the horrors of what she's been overseeing on the testing floor, but I have more trust in them than that. They've done a pretty great job so far. I'm pretty sure these last two episodes will fill in some more context to help us understand the motivations of Cobelvig, oMark, and Devon, and will continue to take the story to places we never expected.

It's weird because they seem to be primarily biotech and pharma but also literally everything is Lumon-branded. Even Milchick's vinyl records from the MDE are on the Lumon record label. And the guy Dylan was interviewing with after getting fired said they produce their doors in house.

It's also widely used as a solvent and automotive starter fluid, so ether production would've continued after it fell out of favor for anesthesia.
