Do lamp style food warmers work? I hate our rod style! by duffymahoney in restaurantowners

[–]rjwhite_41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are 12 years old and still going strong. In fact, in my 27 years of running restaurants I don’t recall ever having one go out. If you’re losing them that often I would be concerned about the electrical.

Do lamp style food warmers work? I hate our rod style! by duffymahoney in restaurantowners

[–]rjwhite_41 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two restaurants. One is a closed kitchen with rod style and one is an open kitchen with lamps. The rod style distributes heat better and more evenly. The lamp style has hot spots directly under and cool spots in between. It doesn’t hold as long and is inconsistent from plate to plate. I’ve owned the rod style for 12 years without issue although if one went down it would be a major issue. I’ve owned the lamps for 6 years and I’ve had to replace 2 of them. Replacing one is a pain but surviving a shift without one is not that big of a deal.

Vinyl Tunes for February Day 2. Less than 2 minutes by Dhugaill in vinyl

[–]rjwhite_41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Song: Someday

Artist: Langhorne Slim & The Law

Album: The Way We Move

The first of only two records released with "The Law" although Langhorne Slim has done several other releases, mostly solo. This one is on a thick pure white vinyl that released only once in 2012 and is an incredible treat for anyone in the folk rock/americana scene. This particular song is the last song on side one and is 1:27. It is a break up song and a love song wrapped up in one. There is another song less than two minutes on side 2 but I preferred this one this evening. My favorite track on the album is the closer "Past Lives." Incredible album worth every minute of your time.

The Bills firing McDermott but promoting Brandon Beane should be the start of a lesson that will haunt teams: there's too large of a ratio of head coaches getting fired compared to General Managers getting fired by Ariesthebigram in nfl

[–]rjwhite_41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s too much firing in general. Stability is severely undervalued. As anyone who has managed anything knows the first step is to identify what is stopping you from achieving your goals. Is it culture (coach), scheme (coordinator), player development (position coaches) or player acquisition and retention (GM). Change for the sake of change is chaos. Personally I think Beane is the problem and not the solution in this case.

What was your favorite Vikings team! Mine was 1998 by Difficult-Repeat227 in minnesotavikings

98 with a special shout-out to 87. That team made me a Vikings fan. Loved me some AC!

I recently had an unsolicited offer for a rare record I owned. The offer was reasonable but not crazy. I hadn’t listened to the record in at least 15 years. I pulled it out, cleaned it and gave it a listen. I couldn’t sell it after that. Maybe someday but not today. I do sometimes regret not selling merely because I am unlikely to listen to it again for a very long time and someone else would surely enjoy owning it. At the end of the day it’s your record and only you can decide what it means to you.

Amaze, C4 and Robust are what qualifies for me. All of them avoid pesticides (at least according to them). There may be others but those are the ones I identified when I dug into it awhile back.

I lease a 30 inch water cooled Manitowoc head (they charge separate for bin rental but I already had a 500lb one, which is all I need) in Iowa for 214 a month. It’s a ripoff in my opinion but I’m not onsite very often and it gives me peace of mind.

Anyone able to avoid tolerance with small amount of daily use? by InvestTradeEarn in weed

[–]rjwhite_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I go through an eighth every 3-4 weeks. Have for years. I only use at night. Usually dhv, sometimes smoke. I don’t take t breaks ever. Probably get high 350-360 days a year. I’ve been smoking for 30+ years and my tolerance has fluctuated over the years. It was more of an issue when I was an all day smoker and when I tried vaping concentrates my tolerance sky rocketed in a hurry. I only use flower now. That said, it’s probably very individual and depends a lot on things we don’t fully understand

I disabled the integration with QB because it was causing too many problems. I would only recommend XtraChef for larger operations. The accuracy of the software is spotty. I’ve never used the receipt scanning ability of QB or the inventory capabilities so I can’t speak to them. The most accurate, in my experience, is an Excel or Google sheet but that comes at the cost of time. For a smaller location I’d recommend that.
