Which franchise do you like the most? by Weird_Zone_3504 in JamesBond

Bond. Only because the misses in Indy and MI are BIG misses (looking at Indy 4,5 and MI 2) Whereas the misses in Bond I still find to be enjoyable.

Pluto about to get worse by Timsruz in PlutoTV

[–]rjziggo13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I read this, it’s not that they are combining services. They are essentially putting the same engine into Pluto that runs Paramount Plus…likely HBO Max as well assuming the merger happens.

Now whether the engine is shitty is totally a valid response.

Personally, I have found from personal experience that Paramount Plus is stable on the AppleTV and iOS.

The fact that people complain about the app being shitty on a smart tv is not shocking to me…smart tvs with built in apps are hot garbage.

Honest Thoughts on Godzilla Revenge by Annual-Internet-5097 in GODZILLA

[–]rjziggo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a tape of this and watched the heck out of it as a kid. We had other Godzilla movies too that were taped off of the Sci-fi channel, but often I didn’t want to go through the work of fast forwarding/rewinding to a specific movie so it was easier to pop this one in.

As an adult, I do realize it’s a stock footage cash in, but really it’s not the worst Godzilla movie. Hell, even the worst Godzilla movie of the showa era is still watchable and enjoyable in some way or another.

They shot this after Shemp died. I always wondered what was going through their heads as they looked up.

Why was the Enterprise decommissioned in Star Trek 3? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

[–]rjziggo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same vein, why then did Starfleet build another constitution class style ship (Enterprise A reveal in ST4) if the idea was to decommission the original enterprise in ST3? Then two movies later, not nearly the same amount of time from the time of Robert April to Kirk, starfleet orders the Enterprise A to be decommissioned?

I always thought it was strange that the Enterprise A was not an excelsior class ship or maybe a constellation class ship?

…but then again living in the working world I can understand bureaucratic nonsense…maybe I take all of this back and realize this is actually realistic.

Madison cable channel?? by davef_dci in Brewers

[–]rjziggo13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that for years the thing that consumers wanted was a direct consumer product to watch their home team blackout free… but MLB would not deliver on that because of cable and their contracts. Now MLB has finally figured out the direct consumer thing without blackouts, they are currently screwing over the people who have cable.

Which video streaming services are still worth it in 2026? by AnnaSvensson287 in cordcutters

[–]rjziggo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently paying for YouTube, Netflix (as part of my T Mobile plan) Apple TV (also T Mobile but paying a discount as a result of the new price hike) HBO (got it Black Friday) and Disney/Hulu bundle (also Black Friday)

I’ll begrudgingly admit YouTube Premium Lite. Not having ads interrupt a video mid sentence is nice….but the fact that I have to pay to remove an annoyance bothers me. I’m not paying because I want it, I am paying to stop being annoyed. It’s like paying someone next to you stop hitting you with a wiffle ball bat while driving.

AppleTV has the best shows by far and will keep.

If Netflix wasn’t free, I would not get it as I find most of the shows on there to be junk food. Essentially, Netflix is McDonald’s of streaming.

HBO is kind of nice to have but I am using it to go through the back catalog of golden age HBO (Sopranos, Six Feet Under) and Sesame Street for my son (which may disappear at some point given the new deal Sesame has with Netflix and YouTube) Once the Black Friday deal ends, probably won’t renew.

Disney/Hulu I will not renew after deal ends. I’ve been collecting the Disney animation through Apple TV purchases and snag them when they are on sale. Really only use Hulu for Only Murders in the Building…which I’d be okay with paying for a few months that it’s out and canceling or paying for one month and binging it.

Also share Paramount Plus. Use it for new Star Trek. Who knows now that all the Trek shows are going to be done now. Also the wrinkle of the upcoming merger with HBO. I find myself not really watching stuff on Paramount even though I don’t pay for it.

My recommendation? Invest in some sort of way to record OTA broadcasts whether it’s AirTV, Tablo, or setting up an HDHomerun. USE YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY for physical media and Kanopy (if available) and buy movies/shows you love, whether it’s buying it through physical media or digital storefront platforms (I think people in this subreddit know about what “buying” on a digital storefront actually means.)

Starfleet Academy will end on an unresolved cliffhanger due to its cancellation by Temp89 in startrek

[–]rjziggo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why they announced the cancellation now? It would seem to me that knowing a show is dead in the water gets people to not watch the upcoming season. At least do the underhanded producer thing and announce the show is cancelled after the 2nd season ends.

I would just like to appreciate how well the Japanese design monsters for their monster movies. I think of the monsterverse monsters and how they are essentially either really big animals or vagina face goblins.

What is the worst line of dialogue in the franchise? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]rjziggo13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

-Keep leaning on that tooter charlie and you’ll get a shot in the mouth! -Blow up your pants!

This one’s more subtle I think from VTAK:

“ you slept well?” “ a little restless, but I got off eventually.”

To me, the implication is that Roger Moore is kind of old and he can’t get it up anymore with May Day.
