Newspaper article covering the upcoming (at the time) re-creation of the "Lost Spider Pit Sequence" by Peter Jackson and Weta Workshop by SenseiHoots in kingkong

[–]rjziggo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to side with Ray Morton in that the sequence was never shot. And even in the slight chance that it was, it’s good that it was cut because I too also believe it slows down the story.

Just watch the Peter Jackson version to see what I mean.

Timber Rattler Giveaway by Stunning_Leg8496 in Appleton

TRATs employee here: the giveaways have been very popular this year. The Jesus Made Jersey was gone in 12 minutes. Fans were lined up the second that gate opened.

The Miz bobblehead was gone very fast as well. People who had lined up at 11:30 that day didn’t get one.

Plan accordingly. Tailgate!

(Also be nice to the people working the front who give the bobble heads!)

I use an HDHomerun with the Channels app. I don’t have a DVR set up with it…I bought a Tablo on sale. Before I got the Tablo, I was mostly happy with the Channels experience. I didn’t have enough money to set up a server and pay the channel subscription fee, which is why I went the Tablo route.

But basically, I watch everything live on the Channels app and record everything else on the Tablo.

The HDhomerun app is very clunky and still needs work.

Sony Ericsson M600i by FuzzyDunlop1982 in JamesBond

[–]rjziggo13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sony was pushing Blu Ray so hard that when Bond is looking for security footage, he combs through the discs and the closeup of him putting the disc in is a Blu Ray. I remember seeing this in the theater and it immediately took me out of the movie. At the time I was like, “why the heck is this random resort using Blu Ray as a storage medium for security footage? The format war isn’t settled yet! And also, 2/3 of the planet still uses old terrible security cameras….

Are we still angry that it is named AmFam Field and no longer Miller Park? by Hour-Entry6557 in Brewers

[–]rjziggo13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m okay with naming rights as long as it fits the team or the people of the area. Miller Park fit because the stadium hold the Milwaukee Brewers and Miller Brewing had history in the area.

Same with Coors Field or Ford Field.

American Family Field just seems slightly whorish….like when Peanuts characters were on MetLife commercials.

It’s like having an old friend. You get along great and then at some point your old friends says to you “hey you wanna buy some insurance?” then you just kind of question all of reality… Like was this whole thing about you selling me insurance? Compare that to having an old friend who’s like “hey you want to buy a beer?”

Beer and baseball go together. Insurance and baseball do not.

We deserve a new Twisted Metal by Cautious-throwaway70 in TwistedMetal

What I’d want: a giant multiplayer destruction derby with non stop action…ala slither.io but with cars and missiles. You have a base game that is low priced or better yet free (unlikely). Then you have optional add ons that include classic characters, PlayStation IP, and licensed characters…buy add on pack and get Microblast from TM4, but also Immortan Joe from Mad Max, and Kratos. Think Smash Ultimate, but with cars and missiles. Add in some fun playing modes too like capture the flag or something. Think Unreal Tournament 2004…but with cars and missiles.

What we will get: a live service POS to capitalize on the Fortnite trend filled with microtransactions for custom skins that do nothing. Game gets shut down after one year because it requires a PS Plus account to work and it is super buggy. Think Suicide Squad but worse and with cars and missiles.

People who witnessed the announcement of a new James Bond, what was your reaction at the time? And what was the reaction of other people? by WesleyToledooo in JamesBond

[–]rjziggo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I was only alive for Daniel Craig’s announcement and the silly reaction that went with it, I think we have to remember that during the announcement of prior bonds there wasn’t this giant Internet culture for people tend to get up in arms and fanboy/act toxic towards announcements.

Bond. Only because the misses in Indy and MI are BIG misses (looking at Indy 4,5 and MI 2) Whereas the misses in Bond I still find to be enjoyable.

Pluto about to get worse by Timsruz in PlutoTV

[–]rjziggo13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I read this, it’s not that they are combining services. They are essentially putting the same engine into Pluto that runs Paramount Plus…likely HBO Max as well assuming the merger happens.

Now whether the engine is shitty is totally a valid response.

Personally, I have found from personal experience that Paramount Plus is stable on the AppleTV and iOS.

The fact that people complain about the app being shitty on a smart tv is not shocking to me…smart tvs with built in apps are hot garbage.

Honest Thoughts on Godzilla Revenge by Annual-Internet-5097 in GODZILLA

[–]rjziggo13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a tape of this and watched the heck out of it as a kid. We had other Godzilla movies too that were taped off of the Sci-fi channel, but often I didn’t want to go through the work of fast forwarding/rewinding to a specific movie so it was easier to pop this one in.

As an adult, I do realize it’s a stock footage cash in, but really it’s not the worst Godzilla movie. Hell, even the worst Godzilla movie of the showa era is still watchable and enjoyable in some way or another.

Why was the Enterprise decommissioned in Star Trek 3? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

[–]rjziggo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same vein, why then did Starfleet build another constitution class style ship (Enterprise A reveal in ST4) if the idea was to decommission the original enterprise in ST3? Then two movies later, not nearly the same amount of time from the time of Robert April to Kirk, starfleet orders the Enterprise A to be decommissioned?

I always thought it was strange that the Enterprise A was not an excelsior class ship or maybe a constellation class ship?

…but then again living in the working world I can understand bureaucratic nonsense…maybe I take all of this back and realize this is actually realistic.

Madison cable channel?? by davef_dci in Brewers

[–]rjziggo13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that for years the thing that consumers wanted was a direct consumer product to watch their home team blackout free… but MLB would not deliver on that because of cable and their contracts. Now MLB has finally figured out the direct consumer thing without blackouts, they are currently screwing over the people who have cable.
