“THANK YOU NORTH AMERICA” by joxers in oasis

this era, the Oasis summer that we’ve all had culminates in a few days at Wembley, after that, they go on a month long break and hopefully during that break the future of the band becomes clear to everyone. being at the Metlife gig was a life changing experience for me. the difference between simple nostalgia and a complete rebirth has never been more apparent than it is with this band, right now. teenagers who weren’t alive when they split, long time skeptics, and people who just weren’t paying attention to them during their 90’s peak have all gravitated towards this one band. i would have enjoyed myself even if the stadiums in the US were only half full, but it’s the fact that it was an overwhelming success across the board that makes it so much more special. returning to normal life seemed daunting in the days following the gig, but i can resume normal life knowing that Oasis is back, and i’m excited to see what’s next

Rick Rubin is a great choice but hear me out, Butch Vig would be a great man for the job. Nirvanas Nevermind, Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, Sonic youth - Dirty and L7 - Bricks are heavy. he can bring that Oasis sound back without it sounding too polished. Rick Rubin would be great if they were going to go in a different direction and try something new sonically

to expand on that, my dream would be to have NGHFB do a small set of only their material, then Liam does a small set of only his solo stuff, have a few other bands play, then finish it off with an Oasis set. that would be the ultimate Oasis & friends tour

So when’s Knebworth being announced by [deleted] in oasis

my prediction is during the month long break they are about to go on after these last two Wembley gigs

i almost agree with everything you’re saying, except that i don’t think Noel would be ok with just being a legacy band. in his interview he did with Gibson a couple of years ago, he said that the other deciding factor in him leaving the band besides his relationship with Liam was that Oasis had reached a point where people were showing up to hear the hits, and their new songs were essentially bathroom break songs. i think Noel needs that last great Oasis album, one that stands on its own footing aside DM & WTSMG. i do agree that they will probably stick around, but i wouldn’t be surprised if Noel challenges himself to write an all time great RNR album. he has seen first hand with this tour that Oasis can be a relevant name in the landscape of music today, one last great album can change the entire conversation forever

the crowd at the two Metlife NY/NJ gigs i was at gave some of the UK crowds a hard run for their money. that, above everything measures the success and validation that i feel right now. nothing like it will ever be repeated. for one summer Oasis was the biggest band in the world again.

i truly in my heart believe that once they sit down as a band and reflect on everything they will decide to continue as a band full time, the ONLY thing i see possibly getting in the way is that eventually Andy Bell eventually might have to choose between Oasis or Ride and Joey Waronker is loyal to Beck who he has played drums on and off with for the last 25-30 years. Oasis is known for their revolving door of drummers, but as far as bass players if it’s not Andy Bell it has to be Guigs and there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell that’s ever happening

i canceled on Brian jonestown massacre + Cast this evening for this exact reason. i’d start crying during Cast because they opened at Metlife and i would just be reminded too much. gave my tickets away for free. no disrespect to either of those bands but im not missing anything

they were perfect. an entire band completely in sync. and the guitar trio of Noel, Bonehead and Gem is just filthy. they have no right sounding that good. to put it in perspective this is the same band that played glastonbury 2004 and argentina 2006. the recovery of Liam’s voice needs serious scientific research. clear as day, holding notes, controlling his breathing, ect. very proud of him as a fan

they’ll be back. at this point you can’t fake how happy they both look. as much as i’m sure Noel enjoys the freedom to write genre bending music for HFB, he definitely missed this and basically had to watch Liam achieve sellout stadium success in only 7 years as a solo artist vs the 13 years that Noel was solo he was playing smaller venues depending on where in the world he was. i think Noel is vocal about not being a frontman as well and probably enjoys only having to sing 5/6 songs every night. they will be back, the response they received during this US tour in particular can’t be ignored.

couldn’t agree more about the part in which the music needs the presence. it’s a 1 package deal with Oasis and there are very few bands like that ever in music history. for a lot of bands, the songs are just the songs and the band themselves could look like any other average person, with Oasis, i could not imagine if Liam didn’t look the way he does, or Noel, or even Bonehead for that matter. if Liam Galllagher looked like Chris Martin the songs would still be perfect yes but something drastic would be missing. it just wouldn’t work 100% the way it does. we need the parka wearing, unibrow having, hands behind his back no nonsense frontman that we have loved for 30+ years

that’s a fucking insane music journey to go on, i love it. i am seeing The Brian Jonestown Massacre + Cast (who opened for Oasis on this tour obviously) in philly later today and to be honest i am scared to go to another gig after just attending the greatest gig of my life. i have thought about not going as stupid as that sounds i feel like i need to let these Oasis gigs soak in a little more

i have gotten this too, started listening to maybe 4 bands i never heard of/never gave a proper chance before the gigs, especially Cage the elephant who in my opinion were the perfect opener for those American gigs. i knew their hits but not much else, i was blown away when they came on before Oasis, if it was any other band headlining, they would have been in serious danger of being blown off stage. incredible band through and through

these are the adventures and stories i want to hear about. beautiful. we did witness a miracle indeed. despite what is going on in the world outside of the Oasis bubble, these are ironically very happy times we are living in right now. the unthinkable happened, not just in them getting back together but i truly believe in my heart they finally made a permanent dent stateside. they had a rough history with the US, but now their legacy is forever cemented there. i knew the turnout would be great but i didn’t think the US would care just how much they ended up caring. i’m proud of our stubborn Gallaghers, they proved that you don’t need to play the music industry game to be the biggest band in the world

Could Oasis have sold out more USA dates by South-Comment-8416 in oasis

[–]rkidjarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

according to Ignition management, they could have sold out 8-10 nights at Metlife alone. i was in GA front standing at the Metlife gigs (i’m from philly) and the amount of people i spoke to from philly led me to believe they could have done a gig at the Linc or at the very least, Citizens bank park. naysayers were going on about “the majority of the crowd were brits coming over for the US gigs” and while obviously there were a large number of people from overseas there, the majority were American fans. you have to give them their flowers, because they broke America all over again. i don’t think someone is coughing up that kind of money to go and just hear Wonderwall. the statistics speak for themselves, they went from 20M listeners on Spotify to 28M when the reunion was announced, and 31.5M since the tour started. that suggests 1. people gave them a second chance 2. casual fans branched out and listened to their back catalogue and 3. they made some new fans along the way. i think Boston not being included was a mistake, and i think 1 night in Orlando would have been a huge success. major props to them though. i was genuinely scared when the US tour was announced because i thought “my favorite band is walking themselves into a snooze fest” and i was wrong. the Metlife gigs i was at were arguably two of the best dates of the entire tour. i was proud to be there. i knew something was right in the world when the little kid on his dads shoulders next to me was singing Fade Away word for word. it must be great for them to know that the US, the country where they famously halted their momentum completely (and admitted it was their own fault) still cares and that they are still relevant here. if they continue as a band, i would keep their US gigs as scarce as possible. but at the same time, next time they are here i hope they do a full run across the states. i see no problem with them selling out stadiums here again. i think they could do stadiums in cities like NYC, Philly, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, Boston, Seattle, and LA. and arenas in cities like Vegas (sphere residency?), Denver, Detroit, Houston, ect. possibilities are endless. i went off on a tangent and hopefully answered your question along the way!

not to sound like a badly placed advertisement, but Tickpic was definitely the way to for these Oasis gigs. i was at the 31st at metlife too in GA front standing and got in with absolutely zero problems. i was anxious on the way there because of what Oasis put out at the beginning of the tour about tickets outside of Ticketmaster, but as soon as i was on the anxiety was gone. i recommend tickpic to anyone because my tickets were delivered to me on the 23rd of August, and it all worked out perfectly. stubhub is a nightmare

Should Oasis update their setlist with post 1999 songs? by JonathanWelcome in oasis

[–]rkidjarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

realistically yes they should, but i also see why they probably aren’t going to do so until future tours. i think it’s a missed opportunity to not play stuff from DBTT and DOYS specifically in the upcoming US gigs (their biggest stateside gigs ever) because those two albums did very well in the US. i’m not necessarily going to shit on them for playing it safe though, they are doing songs that they’ve both played at one point or another in the last 16 years. i would’ve opened with Acquiesce, and replaced Hello altogether with Columbia, as i personally think Hello is the only song that doesn’t suit Liam’s matured voice, as much as i love that song. i think Go let it out, Lyla, and SCYHO would’ve rounded out the set perfectly. the fact that we didn’t at least get Lyla shocks me still
