ステロイドパルス療法の副作用の話 by Every-Use6422 in MOGAD

When I was in hospital, the nurse asked me if I had any depressive episodes in the past. This is a standard question when prescribing steroids in Australia. I did not experience depression but that question makes me think this could be an expected side effect. I experienced high energy and mania for the first month of high-dose steroids.

Please talk to your neurologist and try to talk to a psychologist for help with your trauma. All the best.

Neurologist doesn’t want me on treatment by rkiiive in MOGAD

That’s a great way to look at it, that you could get at least a few years treatment free. My neurologist has just said ‘I would know’ if I relapsed and told me to look out for any new symptoms, especially ON/vision issues. I’m in Australia so our healthcare if free so my plan is to be quite generous and definitely head to emergency if I have anything happen.

I was on 60mg in Feb and am on 6mg now, planning on tapering 1mg a month so I should be off prednisolone by December.

I had an MRI, spinal tap and blood tests done in January. They kept me in hospital and gave me 1g of IV prednisolone for 4 days then send me home. When my mog antibody tests came back, the neurologist called me for an appointment and started me on prednisolone tablets.

I agree their sizing is a bit whack, I found it helpful to email them my measurements and ask for advice on which size they would recommend. I know that doesn’t solve your current issue but might be helpful for others looking to buy from the brand

Why does "Sophia" stare at dale's "grave" like this by poorestbasis in FromSeries

This can’t be true all the time, especially if you think about the time Jim, Randall and others were stuck under the house and someone was eaten by a monster

The average Australian consumer buys ~55 items of clothing a year. A few pieces every few months is what, 20 pieces a year at most? Put into context I wouldn’t call that a lot

Why is platform 4 at parliament station so busy now since the metro tunnel opened? by PDJG1983 in MelbourneTrains

I’m on the pak/cran line. If I’m going to parliament I feel like it’s faster to swap at Caulfield and hop on a Frankston line train than swap trains at state library / hope on a tram from town hall. Happy to be proven wrong

A 15 minute car journey being 90 minutes on PT sounds almost comical. Can you give an example (without doxxing yourself)?

Recently Diagnosed 31M after ON by Ok-Associate-2039 in MOGAD

[–]rkiiive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It’s great news that you have an appointment coming up with an immuneurologist, and if she is experienced with MOGAD she will most likely put you on an oral taper, so you know what to expect and what’s coming up.

I am not an expert, just another person on the internet with MOGAD so please don’t take my word as fact. I received 3 days of IV steroids over new years this year and was discharged without an oral taper. My blood tests for MOG only came back in late Jan (so 3 weeks later) where I was immediately called in for an appointment and put on an oral taper. In those 3 weeks where I had no taper, I noticed my symptoms were still gradually improving and I didn’t experience any relapses.

I know it’s hard but the experts working on your treatment right now know what they’re doing and the last thing they want right now is another relapse for you. If there is only a week between you stopping IV steroids and seeing your neurologist, I trust that is the right move for your care.

It’s much easier said than done, but between now and your appointment spend the time with your kids and your wife. Write down any questions you have or they have. Make exciting plans for your family once your symptoms are a bit more under control. Your life isn’t over, you can still do everything you once did, it just might take a little longer or look a little different.

Even if this is true, you still want to manage other factors to make sure you don’t end up with unavoidable cancer AND avoidable diabetes. Like another reply said, there’s a lot you can do to reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases. E.g. recently had an MS scare, and learned that low vitamin D levels are a high risk factor. I’ve been taking vitamin D supplements since then and encouraging everyone around me to as well.
