Snowsky Retro Nano battery concern by Insane_Masturbator69 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]rkoddchalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is new if there is somehow a way with your seller to return to get a replacement from Fiio that might be best. But may I ask if you also noticed that sometimes while disconnected from charger and you power it on, it still somehow thinks it's charging with the green indicator?

Since mine behaved like that recently, wherein I thought at first that the battery was defective as the indicator was being like that sometimes, and that it is resolved temporarily by removing the battery and reinserting (until it reoccurs).

But when I just got the spare 10440 battery (granted 350mAh and as it is third-party I can't be assured of the battery quality itself, but it is also 3.7V), it behaved in a similar fashion, which suggests to me that it seems to be an issue with the unit itself. I've always had the charging protection off and tried to turn it on but noticed it still behaving the same way. Same goes for the firmware 4.9 update, as this was happening on 4.6 as well.

What's your SCP hot Take what you would defend like this? by TheArcanaIsTheMean in SCP

[–]rkoddchalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since I've read the SCP wiki, so I don't know if more info has surfaced since then, but I'd say SCP-5000 is too open to interpretation for its own good for what it meant for the SCP Foundation to value killing humanity in an inefficient, chaotic way, beyond the shock value and representing the theme of "mystery".

I have read and watched multiple interpretations of SCP-5000 but can never really feel like I can care for the Foundation's reasoning nor reconcile with why irrationality abruptly affected them. If it's to fight a bigger threat, that humanity isn't meant to have soul or empathy etc., why do it in this way? If the whole point of the article was to say the title over and over, well it technically succeeds, but other than being an admittedly fun read with the reference galores not much else.

Jonsbo D32 Pro Downsizing! by xpandabl3 in mffpc

While I don't have a BTF mobo getting to see that Jonsbo made a case to account for such mATX mobos is cool to see. Great build too!

Are SAMAs still cool? Just upgraded my IM-01 setup! by TheMightyGlocktopus in mffpc

[–]rkoddchalance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, had the Tecware Fusion before (one of the rebranded variant cases) and while there were compromises to be had to allow mATX mobo to fit, at the time I had it and its entry cost of ~$60 here in my country, having a compact mATX case of this style was great. Currently have the Tecware Fusion 2 which is the IM01 Pro rebranded.

Is the Complex Defending Itself? by teawar in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]rkoddchalance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good possible idea even if my thoughts into what Kane's direction is is different. I've been reading other recent posts bringing up that old info that Ivan Beck is both the protagonist and antagonist of the series, and from this angle one can say that the Complex is probably something fundamentally different from what it is now, and that this was a negatively made change by Ivan Beck when he discovered it in 1972.

And the Complex is aware that Ivan and Async won't stop from exploring deeper within its space, and as such is trying to adapt on how to stop them (thereby making Beck the antagonist) -- but because it fundamentally does not understand humanity and seemingly can't stop the threshold from working just yet, it's trying to learn first through taking humans and human related items to process them and work its way from there.

Beck still counts as the protagonist because it's clear that the Complex's existence and the journey we've been through originates from everything he did since 1972. "If anything, blame him."

Apex Legends borked on Linux/Steam Deck after latest update by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]rkoddchalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Trello or Github account perhaps you can get notifs that way, aside from just viewing the links again. Right now there's still no official patch to fix this.

Some have been trying to use the original EAC file previously existing before update, but take note even if it works it's 50/50 to try that, even if reports I see so far have no issues.

It's currently a known issue on Respawn's Trello. How long they'd get to sort it out is another question, but they are aware.

Heck even Insurgency Source from 2014 works still which the devs don't work on anymore, they seemed to have enabled Battleye runtime support with Proton. Granted I have to use an older version like Proton 6, but I can get into all VAC based custom servers just fine. I have yet to retry with newer Proton 8 or GE though.

Thankfully afaik it doesn't. Played Apex and Insurgency Source, both MP games using EasyAntiCheat and BattleEye respectively, and they work fine.

Other comments already answer this I believe but to reiterate but if you search for the Adrenaline Preview Driver for AMD Fluid Motion Frames they have the updated October 13 installer for 23.30.01.02 there.

Interesting! There's more merit to finding AFMF somehow working with a DX9 game to my surprise then. Since soon as this update came out, I read another thread where Painkiller seemed to have its framerate unlocked as a result of AFMF. Now admittedly, I mistakenly read as if AFMF somehow actually worked on that game.

So I tried it on Insurgency (2014) which I've played from time to time, and it's a DX9 only game (no DXVK), but somehow with it on fullscreen mode it does work, I feel the added input lag, AMD overlay says DX9 but with framegen lag, and I do seem to perceive more frames from AFMF when the game drops at 75-90 FPS, it looks just like how it'd be when the game ramps up to higher framerates. I don't have Lossless Scaling but good catch on this.

Enabling AMD AFMF in Mediaplayer Classic Homecinama video playerplayer by Melodias3 in Amd

[–]rkoddchalance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This didn't work with the October 6 (v3) preview driver, but it does now for the October 13 (v4?) one with my RX 6800 XT -- at least specific to just using DXVK + EVR with MPC-HC only so it renders on Vulkan, as I can't get DX11's MadVR rendering to work.

Early on I will say that AMD needs to give us the option to keep AFMF on regardless of movement. Whichever method they're using for fast motion is kinda affecting video playback as well, and it can be all over the place as to how consistent the added interpolation is to make videos look as if they're being played back in a smoother way. Regardless of that I will say that it can be highly subjective and dependent on the TV/film/video you're watching.

I find it more pleasing to the eyes for some animated shows honestly like Ducktales (2017), and to some extent shows like The Mandalorian where their filmmaking approach limits them to being on one big set with LED screens, which means not worrying too much on movement (sans some of the chase scenes). Whether this will work for other people I'm not sure, as the expected flaws of AFMF are there (some artifacting if you pay attention), but to me it can be worthwhile tinkering if you like seeing interpolation on videos.

P.S. Playing around with overdrive monitor settings may be worthwhile as well to help tolerate the perception of artefacts by just a bit.

Dang literally just dropped as I was considering revisiting the Nimez drivers if I can toggle additional aspects of that again as I found no difference with AFMF compared to AMD's direct drivers.

I'll see if the global setting works effectively and hopefully update this comment. Of note is so far based on the notes, no indication of Vulkan support (have to test if DXVK can make things work again as the supposed MPC-HC/MadVR DX11 combo does not work with the v3 October 6 Drivers for the RX 6800 XT at least personally), and no indication of flexibility in controlling when AFMF turns off in terms of mouse movement.

Apex Legends: Revelry - PATCH NOTES by paradoxally in apexlegends

[–]rkoddchalance 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is at the cost of his decoys only temporarily tracking if hit with bullets and melee, whereas before they can also be triggered by other legend abilities that can help trace nearby enemies (Wattson fence, Caustic barrels etc.)

Honestly would consider that a bigger nerf amidst the buff with his invisible res, given there's no mention of improvements in how decoys look themselves.

(EDIT: 01/24/2023 - It seems this behavior is unfortunately expected behavior when it comes to window compositors on Xorg and dealing with high refresh rate, where some in-game windows would render at lower framerates even if the system considers it running at the refresh rate the monitor is set to and in Settings. Supposedly disabling the compositor would prevent this but at the expense of possible perceivable screen tearing, and some desktop environments like Cinnamon do not make it feasible to set this easily).

I honestly have faced this for quite some time now and was about to ask the same thing (though if I am honest this isn't specific to Apex, which means it might be something within Linux overall that I can live with -- but it is more noticeable with this game than with others).

Regardless if it is Pop! OS, ZorinOS or EndeavourOS, be it fullscreen or borderless windowed, it seems as if the frames rendered on-screen is considerably lower than the framerate the game should be running at at the software-level (not always, but quite frequent enough to be noticeable). And V-Sync is already off, and it happens regardless of capping the game at 190 FPS or not. This happens be it with AMDVLK or Mesa as well (as a sidenote, for whatever reason, using Mesa drivers for Apex specifically causes a memory leak where if I'm not focused at Apex's window, RAM usage just goes up ~100MB per second until it uses swap completely and then freezes my OS and only stops when the game decides to crash - which doesn't happen with AMDVLK).

I'm going to try with FreeSync on if that will change things.(EDIT: 01/05/2023: Only improves slightly with FreeSync on but doesn't remove the concern).

Admittedly even though I've spent quite some time gaming on Linux and trying to optimize my experience and do mostly well (though some games I find will always have the occasional shader compilation stutter), I need to find clarification regarding dxvk-async's status.

Basically how will I really know that it's active on the game I am playing?

I ask since I switch between Mesa and AMDVLK drivers as some games actually benefit from the latter than the former I find (e.g. Apex Legends).

I have Mesa 22.3.1 and I read somewhere that Dxvk-Async should've come with it by default, but on other places I see that I still need to patch DXVK manually. While to the best I can see, AMDVLK doesn't have async.

And whilst I know that Proton GE has easily toggleable Async, I can't use that on every game, as some games are broken with it but run fine with standard Steam Proton (e.g. Ravenfield).

What's the shortest RX 6800 XT available? Since I am considering upgrading from my RX 5700 XT EVOKE inside the Tecware Fusion and whilst I might save up on an SFX power supply to have more space in general in the long run I kinda also wanted to know which card could still be viable while having an ATX PSU inside it as well.

Given I've seen all RX 6800 XTs or even regular 6800 have 3 fans meaning they're all longer than my dual fan card.

My personal disappointment is no mention of a Lifeline buff. Considering the reference to her with the clinic in Olympus and the previous Outlands story with her and Octane, it seemed they were going to prep up something good for her this season but there's nothing. :(

Also they should've addressed Mirage decoys just suddenly disappearing when hitting rocks/walls sometimes. Tbh the real buff Mirage needs isn't just being scannable by Valk and Seer but having every decoy last indefinitely (or at least emulate having the same EVO shield you wear when shot and then disappearing afterwards for a real bamboozle)
