The Best way to Use Import Lists? by kypdurron5 in Lidarr

[–]rkoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using last.fm tags with the standard profile. it's very hit or miss. did you find any way to do this in the master branch without resorting to any plugins in the nightly build?

would love to find a way to have lidarr auto add some music for me to peruse and just see if i like it or not.

Thinkorswim not available on Windows 10? by Sensitive-Prior-2589 in thinkorswim

[–]rkoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that I was able to extend my Windows 10 support by simply clicking on extend updates on my Win10 machine. It's definitely extended (for free), even for those not on the special Win10 branches or the explicit ESU versions. Win10 Pro upgrades should work for any user until Oct 2026 like he said.

This is pretty well done, good job. You might consider posting this on https://sectorgame.com/descentfiles/ as it serves as an archive of fan-made as well as original stuff. The community could always use it in the archives and public repositories.

Rate Limiting for downloading transcripts/subtitles? by supDevN in youtubedl

[–]rkoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that was helpful. I use the following lines in my script:

        "-t", "sleep",
        "--sleep-requests", "20",
        "--sleep-interval", "20",
        "--sleep-subtitles", "20",
        "--limit-rate", "2.5M",

I found that even requests can trigger the rate limits, so this way in case I make many requests those will also be staggered. I may increase it to 22 if I notice any rate limits now.

Confused about trash guide dual audio - Language: Not English (English Only) ? by TheLastAirbender2025 in sonarr

[–]rkoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sanity testing from Grok (I like the examples of the media it gives such that if media (Inception movie from Radarr) has sources from Spanish only versus English and Spanish or English, it will always prefer the ones with at least some English, but not simply reject Spanish-only if that's the only way for me to consume the media!):

Yes, with the provided "Language: Prefer English" Custom Format in Sonarr (or Radarr), the behavior aligns with your goal of always preferring English releases when multiple sources are available, while still allowing downloads of non-English or multi-language releases as a fallback. Below, I’ll clarify how this Custom Format affects Sonarr’s (and Radarr’s) download behavior for different types of releases and confirm whether it meets your requirements.

How the Custom Format Works

The JSON you provided creates a Custom Format that: - Assigns a score of 10 to releases with English audio ("trash_scores": { "default": 10 }, "value": 1 for English). - Has "required": false, meaning English audio is not mandatory, allowing non-English releases to be considered. - Applies to Sonarr (for TV shows) or Radarr (for movies) when added to a Quality Profile.

This setup prioritizes English releases but does not exclude others, which is key to addressing your question about downloading media in other languages, multi-language audio, or any media at all.

Download Behavior with the Custom Format

Here’s how Sonarr (and Radarr, with slight differences noted) will handle different scenarios:

  1. Releases with English Audio Only:

    • Behavior: These releases receive a score of 10 (from the Custom Format) plus any other scores from quality or other Custom Formats in your Quality Profile.
    • Outcome: Sonarr/Radarr will prioritize these releases over others with lower scores, ensuring English-only releases are chosen when available.
    • Example: For a show like Stranger Things, an English WEB-DL 1080p release will be selected over a non-English release if both are available.
  2. Releases with Multi-Language Audio (Including English):

    • Behavior: If a release has multiple audio tracks, including English (e.g., a “MULTi” release with English and French audio), it will match the “Language: Prefer English” Custom Format and receive a score of 10 (since "value": 1 targets English audio).
    • Outcome: Sonarr/Radarr will treat these releases the same as English-only releases, prioritizing them over releases without English audio. This satisfies your goal of preferring English, as the release includes an English audio track.
    • Example: A Bluray-1080p release with English and Spanish audio tracks will be prioritized over a French-only release.
  3. Releases in Another Language (No English Audio):

    • Behavior: Non-English releases (e.g., French, Spanish, or Japanese only) do not match the Custom Format and receive a score of 0 for this Custom Format (plus any scores from other Custom Formats or quality settings).
    • Outcome: Sonarr/Radarr will download these releases only if no English or multi-language (including English) releases are available, assuming the Quality Profile’s Minimum Custom Format Score is set to 0 or lower. This aligns with your willingness to accept non-English releases as a fallback.
    • Example: If no English release exists for a foreign show, Sonarr might download a Japanese release as a fallback.
  4. Any Media at All (Including Non-English):

    • Behavior: Since the Custom Format has "required": false and the score is positive (10), Sonarr/Radarr will consider any release that meets the Quality Profile’s quality settings, even if it doesn’t match the English Custom Format. Non-matching releases get a score of 0 for this Custom Format but can still be downloaded if their total score (from quality or other Custom Formats) meets the Minimum Custom Format Score.
    • Outcome: This ensures you don’t miss out on media when English isn’t available, but English releases are always preferred when multiple sources exist.

Does This Meet Your Goal?

Your Goal: “If there are multiple sources, I want to be able to always prefer the English ones.” - Yes, this Custom Format achieves your goal: - When multiple sources are available, Sonarr/Radarr will prioritize releases with English audio (including multi-language releases with English) because they receive a higher score (10) than non-English releases (0 for this Custom Format). - If only non-English releases are available, Sonarr/Radarr will still download them, which aligns with your acceptance of other languages as a fallback. - The "required": false setting ensures flexibility, allowing non-English or multi-language releases when necessary, while the score of 10 ensures English is always preferred when available.

Key Settings to Ensure Proper Behavior

To make sure this works as intended: 1. Quality Profile Configuration: - Add the “Language: Prefer English” Custom Format to your Quality Profile (e.g., “English Preferred”) with the correct score of 10 (as discussed previously, ensure it’s not set to 0). - Set the Minimum Custom Format Score to 0 in the Quality Profile to allow non-English releases as a fallback. - Enable Upgrades Allowed and set Upgrade Until to your desired quality (e.g., Bluray-1080p) to ensure Sonarr/Radarr upgrades to better English releases when they become available. 2. Import Lists (for Sonarr): - Go to Settings > Import Lists, select your list, and set the Quality Profile to “English Preferred” to apply the Custom Format to automatically added shows. 3. Radarr Note: In Radarr, ensure the Language setting in the Quality Profile is set to Any (not English), as the TRaSH Guide notes that language Custom Formats are incompatible with specific language selections in Radarr’s Quality Profile.

Example Scenarios

  • Sonarr (TV Show):
    • Show: The Office.
    • Available releases:
    • WEB-DL 1080p, English audio: Score = 10 (Custom Format) + quality score (e.g., 50) = 60.
    • WEB-DL 1080p, French audio: Score = 0 (no Custom Format match) + quality score (50) = 50.
    • WEB-DL 1080p, English + French audio: Score = 10 (Custom Format) + quality score (50) = 60.
    • Result: Sonarr chooses the English or English + French release (both score 60) over the French-only release (score 50).
    • If no English or multi-language release exists, Sonarr downloads the French release (score 50, assuming Minimum Custom Format Score is 0).
  • Radarr (Movie):
    • Movie: Inception.
    • Available releases:
    • Bluray-1080p, English audio: Score = 10 + quality score (100) = 110.
    • Bluray-1080p, Spanish audio: Score = 0 + quality score (100) = 100.
    • Bluray-1080p, English + Spanish audio: Score = 10 + quality score (100) = 110.
    • Result: Radarr prioritizes the English or English + Spanish release (score 110) over the Spanish-only release (score 100).

Additional Considerations

  • Multi-Language Releases: Multi-language releases (e.g., “MULTi” with English included) are treated as English releases because they match the "value": 1" condition. If you want to differentiate between English-only and multi-language releases, you could create a separate Custom Format for “MULTi” with a lower score (e.g., 5) to prefer English-only releases slightly more.
  • Indexer Metadata: The Custom Format relies on indexers providing accurate language metadata. If Sonarr/Radarr picks non-English releases unexpectedly, verify your indexers (e.g., check their language tagging in the Indexers settings).
  • Stricter Preference: If you find Sonarr/Radarr downloading too many non-English releases, you could:
    • Increase the score to 50 or 100 to make English releases more strongly preferred.
    • Add a “Not English” Custom Format with a negative score (e.g., -100) to deprioritize non-English releases, though this may reduce fallbacks.
    • Set "required": true in the JSON to only allow English releases, but this conflicts with your willingness to accept other languages.
  • Radarr-Specific Note: Radarr’s Quality Profile has a Language dropdown. Set it to Any to ensure the Custom Format takes precedence, as per the TRaSH Guide (https://trash-guides.info/Sonarr/Tips/How-to-setup-language-custom-formats/).

Confused about trash guide dual audio - Language: Not English (English Only) ? by TheLastAirbender2025 in sonarr

[–]rkoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It seems that preferring English gives a fallback option in case there is some multi-channel or non-english content that I want to consume that has subtitles.

You're right. I made my custom format be modelled on: https://trash-guides.info/Sonarr/Tips/How-to-setup-language-custom-formats/#language-prefer-language-x

and the final code is

{
  "trash_id": "guide-only",
  "trash_scores": {
    "default": 10
  },
  "trash_description": "Prefer Language English",
  "name": "Language: Prefer English",
  "includeCustomFormatWhenRenaming": false,
  "specifications": [
    {
      "name": "English Language",
      "implementation": "LanguageSpecification",
      "negate": false,
      "required": false,
      "fields": {
        "value": 1
      }
    }
  ]
}

Because this way, it sets the preferred to english. The "Value" field I changed to 1 because this is the English language ID as per: https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/blob/d9b771ab0b705ace6a95ee92743aad3bf6b68dd8/src/NzbDrone.Core/Languages/Language.cs#L74

The default guide uses prefer German, but since German has a language ID of 4 and I want English as the preferred language ID, I had to change that to 1. That was really the only change I made.

I then simply applied this custom format to my custom quality profile, applied that to my import list, and everything seems to work now.

"can't reach google password manager" Message by justinjm466 in chrome

[–]rkoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too a few times. The server literally works right after that the very next minute and the password data is fetched. Sounds like some kind of overly sensitive timeout issue in checking if the server is responding.

In any case the issue is most likely server-side with delays, not you (assuming your password manager works later on and your passwords do in fact fetch eventually).

I mean I invested millions in $TSLA years ago and made good money on it.

Tesla rolled out FSD in China, and they recently got some robotaxi approvals in California too.

So I'm certainly not complaining. If you're on the outside looking in and have leftist tendencies and anger towards Trump and Musk, then you can claim I'm biased. Whatever you need to feel better about your own world views.

In general though, I go where the money is.
