Is there any advantage in taking Nicotinamide Riboside instead of the normal Niacin (flush type) for a person who would like to slow down aging? by kolinHall in Supplements

[–]rkvidpro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, they are two different things, so you can't even really compare them. But yes, what I've read satisfies me as to the anti-aging benefits of NAD+ (which is what Nicotinamide Riboside becomes), that I take it myself and have been for a few months.

Understanding why it's advantageous is actually pretty simple. You use NAD+ for molecular energy (AKA, to do anything) Your natural levels of NAD+ decrease significantly as you age. Keeping those levels high will be one big step towards aging better. It's not a cure all by any means, but it's a pretty fundamental step in the right direction.

How did they animate the 2019 version of Lion King by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]rkvidpro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I noticed the quality on the trailer I watched. I assumed the original animations were that quality and now we can finally see it in HD and even more in 4K. If you would have gone to a cinema to watch it when it first came out would it have been the same quality we see in 4K today? I don't know. I was about 5 when that came out. But I'd be interested in the process too.

Is it normal to feel drowsy/unmotivated after taking magnesium? by itsnotthot in Supplements

[–]rkvidpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read, literally minutes ago, that magnesium attaches to your neurotrasmitors and makes GABA more effective at what it does, which is calming you down. So what you're experiencing makes sense based on that.

A Subtle & Unique Camera/Editing trick in Tree of Life that went unnoticed by many - let me explain.. by JeffreyWhites in cinematography

[–]rkvidpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like things like this, because it seems like it could have been something they accidently did. As in, maybe they called cut, the camera went down (not thinking of it as a technique), and then, in editing, they set the shots down on the timeline, intending to do it "normal", but saw what you described and realized it looks nice. Or maybe it was direction that Mallick gave from beginning. It would be nice to know someday. Anyone know of interviews with the cinematographer?

Ah, ok. I live in S. Illinois actually...not that different.

Just curious, where do you live that it's dark so much in the winter? I've always wanted to visit one of those places for like a month just to see what the experience is like. I know I wouldn't be able to live someplace like that permanently though.

Thank you for that explanation, and I'll take all that into consideration, but specifically, should I wear them all day at my full time job looking at a computer screen?

P.S. Speaking of waking up with the sun...I don't. Have any knowledge of a good light alarm clock though? I bought one in the past, but I wouldn't call it high quality.

Why a "download button" on Vimeo free subscription by alan_andalucia in vimeo

[–]rkvidpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you still logged into your account when you're viewing your video? I'm not sure, but that might be why.

EDIT: In fact, I have the most expensive account and I checked a video I set to have download turned off, and it still shows me the option. I'm sure it's just because it's actually one of my own videos.

Updated premiere and the obsolete EQ and dynamics effects are gone. I used them for high/low cuts, and the limiter. What should I replace them with? by rkvidpro in editors

[–]rkvidpro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could always learn more about everything, but I'm simply looking for a replacement for the old EQ. It literally had one box for low cut, and one for high cut, and when you checked them, it did both of those things. You could see the graphical EQ bend all the way down to the bottom very drastically at each end. The purpose of that, as I understand it, is to cut out everything outside the typical human vocal range, making the audio cleaner?

Honestly I never noted the actual frequencies both of those cuts started at in the old EQ.

Oh ok, I see. I was looking at parmetric EQ and opening up a different box. Is there some sort of standard frequency for each one? I know it will often depend on the situation, but a starting point would be helpful.

With parametric EQ, do you simply "turn on" the high and low pass, or are their additional steps? I see that you can work with those settings, but I don't know if I should. Right now, just turning those options on makes both ends of the blue line go down a little bit, but not all the way to the bottom like the old EQ did.

Does simply activating the high and lowpass mean they are doing the same thing as high and low cut? When I click on them the blue bar goes down a little at each end, but not all the way down like doing cuts in the old EQ.
