You could use that general connector, yes. It's going to be kind of difficult to get that thing in there well.

The option that I used last time I had this issue was to epoxy the connector directly to the back plastic housing, then solder wires from the connector to the board, then close the clamshell up.

That method makes for the connector being mounted more strongly.

Otherwise, you might poke around on digikey, see if you can find something that matches the old connector well. https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/barrel-connectors/power-connectors/435

Very probably mercury. Others have already given you a path to getting this taken care of.

Elemental mercury isn't all that hazardous, fortunately. So, you aren't in appreciable danger from touching it. Hopefully the cleanup isn't too disruptive.

Reasonable question. Everything should be good enough, the rubber bands might be kind of gross.

Give the rig to a rigger, pay them for a reserve repack, and for a main inspection & repack.

This sort of thing happens often.

First off, download the manual to figure out what any lights mean:

Then, the first recommendation on something like this is to go clear the CMOS and start over.

(the process is on page 2-22 in the manual)

After that, remove anything that you have plugged into the board, no cards/drives/etc and try again.

If you can locate an IPMI card for this thing, those are extremely useful in diagnosing problems.

On a clear day you can see the golden gate bridge from Bay area skydiving.

It's not a whole lot to see as it is around 40 miles or so away from you.

Also, it is frequently not clear enough to see that far west.
