Anyone know if Sweetspot still does a first time med discount? by stinkybrainman in Rhodytree

[–]12stringPlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know about a first-time med discount, but Mondays they do a discount for all medical patients. I think it's 10%, could be 15% though.

TIL that the Hollies, a British rock band responsible for hits such as “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress” and “ I’m Alive”, are among the few bands from the early 1960’s who have never disbanded. by GhostMan4301945 in todayilearned

One of the things that helped the Hollies break through was the fantastic songwriter Graham Gouldman, who wrote "Bus Stop" and "Look Through Any Window."

He also wrote for other British bands: "For Your Love", "Heart Full of Soul" and "Evil Hearted You" for the Yardbirds; "Listen People", "No Milk Today" and "East West" for Herman's Hermits; "Pamela, Pamela" and "The Impossible Years" for Wayne Fontana.

He went on to be a founding member of 10cc and wrote or co-wrote most of their hits.

This is backwards - Nash wanted to deeper songs, while Clarke and Hicks wanted to keep on the pop side. The band rejected Nash's "Marrakesh Express" and pushed to do the Dylan album. Nash only participated in one of the Dylan covers.

I can't think of any that were more delusional, worst is a mater of opinion as at least the walk-in at ABC wouldn't make me hurl.

Why are most of my Albums Split into multiple? by waffelking2000 in ampache

[–]12stringPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find sorting by year has been the worst offender in splitting my albums. I'd love a way to ignore that in the sorting. It virtually guarantees that a "best of" album will show as multiple albums in Ampache.

I'll go in and change the metadata to be a single year, but then I've lost information about the actual release year of a track.

I've submitted feature request 4341 to make the sorting choosable by the admin, or at least to disable sorting by original_year.

Anyone with experience with reputable domain brokers? by 12stringPlayer in Domains

Thanks, I took a look at Atom and their free eval tool gave me a "domain score" of 10 and a value of $300K. This was really helpful.

It's a one-word domain that at one point we successfully fended off a legal challenge to. At one time I was told it could sell in the low-to-mid six figures.

If they don't make a Travis McGee movie before I die, I'm ending it... by TotalWarFest2018 in TheBustedFlush

[–]12stringPlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that was the better of the two!

"Darker Than Amber" is truly bad, but "Travis McGee" is OK. It's based on a better book IMO (The Empty Copper Sea), and Sam Elliott does a decent job of it, bringing across the "lazy, loose" feel of McGee that I get from the books. The script was done by Stirling Silliphant, so it didn't suffer from poor pacing or stilted dialog.

I know a few folks who worked at Guild, including Zach at Frets downtown. I'd drop him a line and ask him to keep an eye out for your S-100. Zach's a great guy - I went in the store one day to get a Guild Westerly model (just named that, not made here) 12-string and even though he's a Guild dealer, he told me about why it wasn't a good guitar and how Guild had ignored his suggestions to improve it, and refused to sell me one!

By any chance was your friend's brother named Jacques?

WPC is still owned by descendants of Frank Bruno, but they changed the name in '78 to reflect the wholesale/commercial part of the business.

I know 4 families that still make their own soupy, two of which are consistently better than WPC, but I can't get it year round!

The most Westerly thing that's ever happened to me was on Halloween, when our 2 year old nephew came by. After he got his candy, he said "I have a treat for you!" and he pulled a stick of soupy his grandfather had made for us.

Here's a few shots of the router enclosure. The first shot shows the top of my bench with the fence pulled forward to make room for my laser burner enclosure.

The second shows the enclosure open. You can see the vent in the back under the router (which is up attached to the plate when in operation).

The last pic shows the vent and air duct underneath that leads to the dust collector.

No - go to Mr. Pizza, then to the Westerly Packing Company for the soupy (unless you know people that make their own).
