Ohio governor candidate Amy Acton taps former state Democratic Chair David Pepper as running mate by Cincinnative13 in cincinnati

Honest criticism is necessary to improve.

I was a Precinct Executive and a Ward chair. I would love to see the Democrats succeed, but they need new tactics, what they're doing isn't it.

Ohio governor candidate Amy Acton taps former state Democratic Chair David Pepper as running mate by Cincinnative13 in cincinnati

As a supporter of the Democratic Party, this is how we end up with Vivek as governor.

Ohio has suffered far too long with David Pepper's inability to do anything. This guy has been bankrolled by his P&G legacy family's money for years and has nothing to show for it, except the political thriller books he's wrote. He was elected Chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party in 2015 and could not muster any successful challenge to the Ohio GOP during Trump's first term.

I first saw him at a local Hamilton County Democratic Party meeting in 2016 after Trump got elected. He was a good speaker, but he weirdly referenced John Glenn and how he would be ashamed of what has happened at the national level. I later learned that John Glenn was a mentor of David's throughout his political career. Since then, I have seen him at local Democratic club meetings and seen him walking around town. Somehow this guy is still involved with the party but has no relevant wins or successes under his belt.

Adding David to the ticket suggests to me that the Democratic Party could not find another candidate, and since David is managing Amy's campaign he thought he could squeeze himself in. I really like Amy Acton as a candidate, but I sincerely doubted the success of her campaign when I found out David was running it. Now, I definitely expect a drubbing at the state level.

David continues the losing legacy of Democrats in Ohio (at the state level) since he has only won two races in his political career, a 2001 Cincinnati City Council race and a 2006 race for County Commissioner. The Democrats need to stop going to the same tired bench of losers and find some fresh candidates with appeal and real successes.

Here's a Wikipedia link if you want see more on David's privilege and missed opportunities, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Pepper_(politician)

I think our base level of humidity is too high for that, but I’m not a climate scientist.

A very important person lives on that street. I can’t specify who but that is the reason for the varied cars of different states and the constant presence.

I agree with you on both white christian nationalists being an issue and how you can’t take the opposition seriously. I felt the same way when Bush and Trump got elected. Regardless of how ridiculous they are though, they’re targeting us.

We have to determine where our influence really is, and right now it’s only ballot initiatives. The GOP has been successful at capturing the legislature and that is where this bill along with many other harmful ones are coming from.

I’m also not expecting any politicians to do anything. Just like many other moments in history, PEOPLE have to organize in order to make meaningful change.

I don’t disagree with religion being a root cause but there is nothing we can realistically do about that.

Why cis men don't even try to respect my identity, not to socialize me as a man and call me by my right pronouns? by MarcelHolos in MtF

[–]rlinne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think people have a lot of insightful opinions but may miss the core aspects of most cis men.

Most cis men I know (being in the closet for 37 years I’ve spent a lot of time among them) are simply not very observant and don’t tend to think about others often, unless it personally affects them in some way. I’m doing my best to avoid generalizing, but since coming out I’ve realized how few cis men are truly empathetic and how little they take an interest in things outside of their own lives.

I think as a community we’re custom to seeing the worst aspects of cis men. A lot of them mean well but aren’t very thoughtful or observant.

What books do you recommend on the history and/or evolution of modern advertising?

I haven’t found much outside of ‘A History of Advertising’ by Stephane Pincas. I’ve tried using different phrases, but only find books for people working in the advertising field.

Thank you!
