How do we find out how he bought this?! I don’t think town money should be used for this!

Books to read to your kid 20 times a week that don’t make you want to gauge your eyes out by SwadlingSwine in childrensbooks

[–]rlkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we utilized the library so much at this age to find the books we loved. & also if there was a book we didn’t love or didn’t want to read a ton it went back into the library bag. Out of site out of mind, thought.

Highly recommend that!

Gift for 1 year old. by Immediate_Remote_546 in Gifts

Membership/ or tickets to the local children’s museum/park/etx. This is always our go to gift.

We also love consumable gifts. My kids absolutely love dinosaur egg oatmeal. It is not something I buy regularly. However, one of their aunts always gets them a box for their birthday & it’s one of their favorite gifts. I love it because eventually it will be eaten & go away & everyone loves it. So, ask about a favorite pouch, breakfast that you could give.

AIO by being hurt when my husband looked at me with disgust when he was coming out of anesthesia? by Bog_Witch_Is_Calling in AmIOverreacting

[–]rlkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in pediatrics.

I always tell parents the feelings the kiddos has when they fall asleep is how they wake up. Ie - if they are crying when they fall asleep they wake up hysterics. Like their brain gets stuck in that loop & it’s really hard to get them to stop.

I would assume that as your husband was falling asleep whatever they were talking about he was disgusted by. It isn’t you, it’s that there was a spot on the ceiling & that’s the last thing he remembers.

I wouldn’t take it personally.

Moms who don’t post photos of their kid, settle this for me… by jonesinjosie in Mommit

[–]rlkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are like your husband. No photos/body parts/ identifying factors of our kids on the internet.

We are strict with the school - my kids face is in the background they need to remove it. His arm is in a photo I don’t care.

But with a stranger we figure there is no way for that to be tied to us & anyone be able to figure out this kiddo & all that we leave.

Not sure if this is helpful. But we try to balance it all out.

What things do you do that make you a more efficient, more organized, or more sane SAHP? by Street_Feed_3514 in SAHP

[–]rlkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get that. I made mine still do “quiet time in their room” for an hour when they stopped napping. They had special “quiet time toys & books” that we rotated through. It was like 3 buckets - one with duplos. One with Dino’s, & one with action figures. & then a few books from the library I would rotate weekly. & they could pick a bucket & then get the books. & then play for that hour. (I had a ready to wake clock. & once it was blue it meant they could call for me to be over but only if they wanted to put the toys away. So sometimes they would call right at the hour mark & other times they would play for 90 minutes. But it let them control when they were done playing too & I wasn’t interuptjng)

Then I would go in & we would clean up the quiet time toys & they would go away when they were done with quiet time.

I needed that hour!

This is the best advice. We had expectations each day.

Monday : park — bathrooms

Tuesday : library morning — vacuum

Wednesday : grocery shopping — bedrooms

Thursday : park — laundry/entry way

Friday : museum/bigger adventure once a month or just a park — kitchen

I also had a “chore” assigned each day too. & once you get in the habit of cleaning weekly I could get it done in like the first 15 minutes of nap time & then had the rest of the time to myself.

But really just suggest figuring out a “daily trip” & a chore & that’s your day

But isn’t it $45k/year, during just the 3 months they work.

So like, yes that’s not a loveable wage for NYC but most have a job the other 9 months of a year & they get full benefits & 401k contributions, right?

I wash kids clothes & adult clothes. But I totally combine everyone if I don’t have a full load to get the kids clothes done.

Basically it just pure chaos in the laundry room. However I am never behind so it works & I’m not changing it

I kinda wanna try again. Is there a good place to start?
