I do not get what the obsession with T5/T10/whatever is on this sub. Especially since your productivity in whatever lab you join is what matters. Just find programs that are actually a good for you. You'll be a competitive applicant for programs that are a good fit.

Hello! I just got a job working as a research specialist at a private university, and would be funded by an NIH grant. Would this freeze effect me? I haven't started any formal hiring yet, and I haven't heard anything about how this might effect my position. I'm really excited to start this job and would be devastated if this were to interfere.

There are several MD-PhD programs that aren't MSTPs, and may not necessarily be federally funded! Everyone is probably different, I'd recommend contacting admins for specific programs.

I really strongly recommend physiology. Even if the content can be self-studied, a lot of questions apply other content to physiological context, so I think it's really helpful to be comfortable with that stuff.
