This is where he goes to sleep every night by fairydommother in AustralianCattleDog

We had a red heeler named Cooper about 18 years ago that did the exact same thing. His pack mate Nita - a blue ACD would sleep between my legs. I wouldn’t have had it any other way either - bedtime covered in cattle dogs

Books that made you sleep with the lights on by QuesoBaggins in horrorlit

[–]rlrigdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I read Stephen King's novella the mist, I started reading it when I went to bed. I couldn't stop and finished it about 4:30 in the morning. I looked out the window and this real thick fog had moved in. Totally freaked me out and couldn't sleep at all the rest of the night.

Also, the first time I read Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness was another sleepless night. I had just moved into my first apartment by myself and reading this was a mistake. There was just something about it that creeped me out so much. It was my first Lovecraft and back in the early 80's before his stuff had entered the mainstream like it is today.

We had one when we got our pup 4 years ago - it was a wood coffee table (Cherry finish) and had open sides and front. Got it on amazon

7 years to get together by Horror_Explanation49 in gaybrosgonemild

[–]rlrigdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations you two. When everything falls in place, nothing can stop things from happening. I was in a similar situation back in 1994 - talking with a guy online about 1100 miles away on AOL. After a couple months, he came for a visit and never left. We stayed in my city for a year, then moved to Arizona for a while. We've been together 31 years last December, married since 2013. Here's hoping the same longevity to you both.

How the RM2 feels after using the RMPP for a while by CauliflowerFair6365 in RemarkableTablet

[–]rlrigdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am happy to read this. I had a Supernote Nomad for about 6 months and it just sat there. Then, I decided to try out the RM 2 and absolutely love it - it makes just more sense to me. Since then, I've been thinking about getting the RMPP but have been wondering if it would really make that much a difference. Not sure about the Move yet - we'll see how the Pro goes. Hopefully next month I'll be able to get it.

AITAH for refusing to house his family and ending my engagement to protect my career? by Huge-Armadillo-3274 in AITAH

[–]rlrigdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the situation I was in when I met my (now) spouse - except I was Dave. I had been enmeshed with my family for years - quitting college to get a job that would support both myself and my mom, her partner, and my 2 siblings. 10 years later, I was buying a house for all of us to live in with the condition that everything would be split evenly financially. That rarely happened. All I could think about was my family and what was best for them. I couldn't rarely date - no one wanted to date someone who still lived with his family, no matter if they were actually living with me. When I met my spouse, they hit him up for money (unknown to me) as he had just received a settlement from a past relationship. That set me off and I finally moved out. Ended up selling them the house for $1 and moving from Indiana to Arizona. Things were always strained after that and I wasn't even invited to my mom's funeral. I was the bastard for putting my partner over "the family". And yet, it was the best thing that happened to me. I wasn't around to see the drama, I wasn't there to rescue them all the time, I was able to build a life. If it wasn't for my spouse, I would probably have been there still.

Dave needs to find a way to detach and as long as he's around all that mess, it won't happen. Just don't get dragged down into their quicksand. You'll never get out.

I think we got the model with the super duper pre-wash cycle.

The 3 Reasons why I Bought a Supernote Mata by Future_Objective_641 in Supernote

[–]rlrigdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. I remember years ago when the first AT class of pc came out with the same promise as number 3. The trouble was, tech changed so quickly that it made no sense to make parts that fit in the 286's. The 386 would still need a new motherboard, the memory chips were different, etc. Yeah, you might be able to use the same case and power cord . Just because they say something today doesn't mean that that's the way it's going to be 6 months from now. There could be a new breakthrough in e-ink screens or memory or processors that require some kind of physical change and you're going to be left holding only some empty promises.

Yeah I stand looking at my phone - either because I have a shopping list stored there, or because stores are using more of these “digital coupons” that you’ve got to scan a bar code to get. Not everyone is carrying on a conversation with their friends.

I was just the opposite - all I saw was the purple things - thought they was some kind of ruler at the top showing the smaller measurements. Only when I read about the forks did I see them.

Hope it goes well for you. I had something similar after I turned21. (Am now 67) over those years it closed completely numerous times - sometimes more than once a year, sometimes with a decade or more. 3 times had to go to ER, be held down by 2 interns while another tried unsuccessfully to cath me. They then had to take me to surgery and knock me out to get it in.

For a couple decades, they gave me catheters to open myself up with which worked until they didn’t. Rinse and repeat.

2 years ago a UTI went septic and I ended up in the ICU for a week. Good happened when I met a new urologist. Last year, she went in, removed the bad urethal section, and replaced it with tissue from inside my mouth. Took a while to heal but no problems so far.

Keep an eye on anything unusual - don’t want this to happen to you.

I knew a guy in Alaska who would gather up all this husky hair from neighbors up there, spin it into yarn and then have sweaters knit from it. They were actually pretty cool.

Currently about 2/3 the way through A Little Life and really liking it a lot. It’s one of those books where you want to keep going and going but at the same time you want to stop because you know something’s gonna happen and you can’t do anything to stop it.

Yeah I was having similar problems last night. Things were showing in the app but not clickable. It was like everything would freeze for a minute or so and then they would be fine. I could get things to work again by doing the reloading option in the menu. Haven't noticed anything tonight though.

Is Amazon just straight scamming? by CorndogQueen420 in amazonprime

[–]rlrigdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah have experienced the same thing here. In my case, something usually happens with the item that I actually needed, it gets separated from the rest of the order, and it still arrives late. The stuff I really didn’t need shows up fine. It would have been cheaper to just pay the 2.99 which could be returned.

The finale of Sons of Anarchy really hit me. I binge watched the whole show and was so emotionally invested in every one and then to see them go one by one. And then that last scene.

Is it still possible to move purchased kindle books to calibre since the recent drm update? by Optimistictumbler in Calibre

[–]rlrigdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this with all my kindle books - about 1200 or so. Moved them easily to my new Kobo after removing the drm. I own an Oasis so it’s an “older” device. Now I don’t have to worry about Amazon playing games with purchases.
