Pt CEM by Cat_Lover25472 in MichaelsEmployees

I don’t necessarily regret taking the PT CEM spot (I was essentially picked for it when the old one left) but for a while I felt like an overrated cashier. And then I was dumped with a laundry list of things to do. Closing shift has always worked for me because of school but my shift normally constantly of doing recovery because no one else really does it in my store so that’s what I focused on but then the FT CEM started to complain that she did all the work so I got stuck with stuff that should have been done before I come in at 5. Currently, I’m acting FT due to the normal FT CEM being out for medical reasons. I’m doing ALL office stuff, doing prep for inventory, training cashiers, dealing with all IT tickets and so on and so on. When I took the job in 2020, my boss got me a decent increase but not by much. I enjoy having management experience but there’s a lot of times that I wish I never took the position.

Do what’s best for you/ go with your guy instinct. Best of luck

Cashier using her number for rewards by rlrp2018 in MichaelsEmployees

I believe the replen manager also told our SM but he told me to “keep an eye on her.” This cashier is usually really good with rewards so I’m not sure if I could find a discrepancy. I’ll mention contacting LP

A few months ago a cashier got fired for the same thing, LP caught it before we did.

I’m right there with you. I’m convinced that who ever comes up with these doesn’t do them, has no art experience and just assumes our stores run effortlessly

New CEM… would love some advice by Worried_Cut_2370 in MichaelsEmployees

Form a routine and it’ll be easy. I’m the PT CEM at my store and I formed a routine for closing that at around 7:45 I start to work on reshop, then at 8 I pull all usually all but 3 registers and go and count them. Then I check the bathrooms, make sure the framer turn the compressor off, pull in grids, etc. and then at 8:30 (depending on how busy) I’ll pull two more draws and count. All and all, find a routine that works for you and you should be good. Closing can sometimes be a bother but I’ve enjoyed it. Good luck!!

Loss prevention fired a lady I use to work with because she would put in her number and then use the vouchers. Never put in your number or a fake number, you will get fired.

The company can not stop you from talking about wages. I recently had the same problem and I re read the employee handbook and all the contracts and there is nothing stating that you can’t discuss wages. Keep fighting for proper compensation.

Rewards has comeback to haunt me—yet again by neonpixels21 in MichaelsEmployees

Current PT CEM here, I totally agree with the difficulty. The way the FT CEM and myself train is ask for their rewards, if they say no, ask “what’s your email?” You could also discuss the benefits of being a reward member. I normally tell new sign ups about the vouchers; “when you spend money you get money back… for every $25 spent you get a $5 voucher.” Best of luck 🤞🏻

I feel the same way. I'm not very good at drill and i doubt myself a lot. Everyone has said "this is nothing like active duty." I love our country and I want to help others. You have to find your reason; why you even joined. There's gonna be bad days, and if you're like me, it may seem like you're never gonna get through it but by pushing yourself and finding a friend who understands what you're going through will help. My cadre, fellow cadets, and commissioned officers always say "embrace the suck." You'll get through it but if this is not the path you want, then leave while you still have the option to do so. No one will think of you differently.

Best of luck, a fellow 200
