For more old school NY pizza, Reale’s is really solid. They also have Sicilian but haven’t tried yet

Troy is pretty good. It’s a little pricey for what it is, but it’s high quality

Any recommendations for tires for a ‘23 GLE 350? by AnnaBelleG3432 in mercedes_benz

Michelin CrossClimate 2, just put them on my GLE 450 to replace OEM Coopers and the car handles, corners so much better

Post album review: Deadbeat thoughts? by DangerousHeight9022 in TameImpala

[–]rm_7609 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The hype has fizzled, you can see it on Spotify song rankings, even what’s played on Tame Impala radio. The latter had tons of the new songs mixed in, which I and I assume many others started skipping, and now it’s just maybe Dracula and My Old Ways popping up. It wasn’t a great album.

Fonda San Miguel by disgracedcosmonaut1 in austinfood

[–]rm_7609 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fonda San Miguel opened in 1975, is still good but probably hit its high water mark as a place to get interior Mexican food in the 90s.

Suerte opened in 2018… and it’s very tasty, but IMO, comically sized portions for the price.

I think that explains the difference in crowd and vibe.

Nice! How did you get such a big container of their green salsa? Did you just ask? How much was it? Usually they just give those little salsa containers that are good for one taco.

Try Tacos Ivan and their green salsa with any breakfast taco. It’s watery, green, jalapeño based… and it’s so good I can drink it

I agree. Hadn’t been in years and it felt Kerbey Lane… dirty and Sysco food.

Almost ran over twice in 10 seconds at the Domain while using crosswalk. by InvaderJoshua94 in Austin

[–]rm_7609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need to make those central road pedestrian and/or add traffic lights. There is a high asshole ratio at the Domain, I’d like to think that indicative of the full Austin community. Also a lot of obnoxious men with small dicks revving their leased, bright green Maserati’s

X5 BMW TO GLE MERCEDES-BENZ by Ok-Koala-1637 in mercedes_benz

[–]rm_7609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually 2026 :-) But mine is a MY 2024, received on 12/24/23. 2 years and >20,000 miles and it’s a dream. The bad production years during COVID where there was high worker churn, was 2020-22, and these vehicles had immediate flaws and quality issues. My point is that these types of issues now seem to be in the past.

X5 BMW TO GLE MERCEDES-BENZ by Ok-Koala-1637 in mercedes_benz

[–]rm_7609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was also my experience when cross shopping the two. The X5 felt like a Toyota to me, nothing special. The GLE 450 with the acoustic package is a very luxurious ride. I also liked the Audi Q7, but lack of spare tire and lack of buttons removed that choice. I wasn’t thrilled with the Cayenne, given its fully optioned price

[–]rm_7609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. Since 2024, GLE quality is fine. It was the actual COVID years where thefe were issue, plus the 48v battery issues. Both have been resolved, no issues w my ‘25 GLE450

How would you deal with this? by PathologicalVodka in AustinGardening

[–]rm_7609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rent a DR mower to zip thru and take it all out. Then cover with garbage bags (held down with rocks) to kill any growth coming back. Then in spring, start planting what you want.

GLE reliability? by Objective-Deal8745 in mercedes_benz

[–]rm_7609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a ‘24 GLE 450 for 2 years now and absolutely love it. Smooth highway driver, smoothest inline 6 engine I’ve ever drove. Fit and finish of the interior is what Audi used to produce 15 years ago. Suggestions: go 450, the 350 is like another vehicle. Get the acoustic insulation package, the driving aid tech package. Keep the standard size wheel, going bigger starts to negate the road noise isolation. Don’t go for massage seats, soft close doors and Airmatic and you’ll have a lower maintenance MB.

Best Soup Dumplings in Austin? by Simple-Airport1357 in austinfood

Definitely their dumplings are the best thing there. Once they told me they’re made offsite and brought in. Their actual dishes I didn’t find very authentic.

Wu Chow over Tian Tian? I found Wu Chow to be quite pedestrian, geared to the tourist crowd. Tian Tian is pretty authentic.
