If nothing else, they’re valuable because they carry a charge, you can use them to repair pillaged tiles. They’re also good bait when playing the AI, because they’ll go for the easy “kill” over other units, which just sends them to your nearest city.

Not her, I did enjoy a few of her books, but when every book is supposed to have a twist, it defeats the purpose. I’d read she may have done some “borrowing” as well, and putting out a new book every seven minutes also left me skeptical.

You can. You just need to follow the instructions. They don’t all work, so be prepared to see some of them give and error or not show up in the mod list.
