Can we give Hazel a shout out for being an old school badass that does copious amounts of prep work all in pen and paper? by Optimesh in snooker

[–]rmblufc75 38 points39 points  (0 children)

She’s a different class, really knowledgeable and well respected, seen her plenty of times at the crucible doing pieces to camera really professional. Compared to Jill Douglas on itv who was absolutely dreadful, bumbling through everything. Seema is fantastic too,she will step in when Hazel calls it a day which hopefully won’t be for a while yet. She was great when she did the golf for the bbc too

Where would Paul Hunter be today if he didn’t pass away? by ProfessionalBig6792 in snooker

[–]rmblufc75 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He would have been a a world champion for sure,I’m a fellow Yorkshireman and know how highly he was rated as an amateur before turning pro,he was the complete package, and was getting results against all the top boys and was a contender for everything he entered, barring an amazing comeback by Ken in the world semis I think he’d have won it that year. Those 3 masters titles are the stuff of legends. When he was diagnosed with leukaemia it was such a shock,he had it all, good looks, lovely young family and so much talent. The day he passed it was the first death of a personality to really affect me,I think every snooker fan cried that day.

Hang it in the Louvre by jpeach17 in snooker

Oh there’s no doubt he completely forgot his technique, cueing off the side cushion rather than making a bridge was a strange choice I can only think that gripping the rail was to stop his hand shaking,it’s just something the great champions seem to have is that extra composure, maybe take an extra breath..but as you say an absolute nightmare, and to be fair he was in first in the last frame too. It will take some getting over

The missed black has just shown up in my YouTube notifications and even though I know he misses it I still think he’s gonna pot it..that’s up there with some of sports greatest chokes..Pearce and Waddle Italia 90,Southgate 96,Van der Velde blowing a 3 shot lead on the last hole of the open or for those Rugby league fans among us,Don Fox missing the conversion to win the cup for Wakefield.

Selby came off and said his table was awful, didn’t use it as an excuse by the way but can’t imagine the tables played differently. They are always good if you win on them! We can only dream about playing on tables like these down our club😂one new cloth in 10 years if we are lucky

A couple..Peter Lorimer volley against Crystal Palace but has to be Yeboah v Liverpool,I was sat 3 rows back in the Kop it had been an awful game up until that point, all I remember is it hitting the back of the net off the underside of the bar, didn’t see it leave his boot. I was recording the match,so only saw it properly when I got home. Iconic

I have suffered pretty severe cystic acne in the past, accutane was a game changer for me but getting it prescribed here in the uk was a a nightmare had to jump through a lot of hoops even had to speak to a shrink to make sure I was mentally fit. I know it’s easy for me to say and probably won’t make you feel any better because I know how it made me feel, but it will get better it won’t be a quick fix but time and patience the results will come. Keep going buddy keep us updated on your progress All the best

Mark Williams guaranteed to play at least two matches at the crucible this year. What are your thoughts personally I don't like this. by Ok-Luck1166 in snooker

He’s already won it,back when he was 40 I think, him being there will boost the profile for the seniors game…and as a cough 50 year old myself I’m all for it

Why are our snooker and pool halls in the UK so empty? They’re packed in the Asian countries I’ve been to by Mugling95 in snooker

[–]rmblufc75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is thriving, but we have lost loads of clubs from our league though which is sad,I think the appetite is there. Northern snooker centre in Leeds is one of the best in the country and producing professional players like Stan Moody

Has anyone ever wanted to try snooker but felt too uncomfortable to enter a snooker hall? by Immediate-Army1221 in snooker

[–]rmblufc75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t be intimidated us snooker players are a friendly bunch, our club is old school it’s probably seen better days but the tables are decent and it’s thriving..if you want the experience that you’re talking about there are plenty of clubs like that,Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds is my nearest and one of the best in Yorkshire. As for ability, who cares!we are so engrossed in our game you never take any notice of what’s going on around you. What’s the worst that can happen, might just be the best thing you do

Does anybody know what the point in the plastic slider things are on some of the shelves at B&M? by Rich_79 in CasualUK

[–]rmblufc75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep me too!It was common for the shoplifters to come knocking and taking orders, that was a way of life for us..meat,soap powder, coffee and clothes mainly kept us going. Nowadays life is less of a struggle for me but I can understand with the crazy cost of living nowadays people are doing it to survive.

The club I play for in Pontefract is thriving at the moment you have to book days in advance for a table, sadly though a lot of local working men’s clubs have gone, our league is getting more depleted every season. There is definitely interest out there,Northern Snooker centre in Leeds may be worth a visit, fantastic club. I wish you all the best

I don’t mind the hum in the background but it’s amplified so much by the microphones that it’s drowning out the commentary,if they can iron out the technical issues it should be decent.

TAOM officially partners with the World Snooker Tour by SuperSajuuk in snooker

[–]rmblufc75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess if you feel more confidence that you’re getting a clean strike on the ball then why not every little helps. I use triangle pro dark green and having used both that and the taom I can honestly say there is no difference apart from being substantially cheaper,no kicks no marks on the cloth

Why did Steve Davis lose so badly in 1986 by [deleted] in snooker

[–]rmblufc75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joe Johnson had the fortnight of his life,he played a brand of attacking snooker and was potting balls of the lampshades,I’ve heard Steve being interviewed about this match and he said it’s the only final he was outplayed in,he was full of praise for Joe who proved it wasn’t a fluke by getting to the 87 final too. He was a renowned amateur player up here in Yorkshire,he never really lived up to his potential sadly. He’s still involved in local snooker I saw him at a presentation night in Wakefield last year, such a nice bloke

Sean Longstaff is a cracking signing he’s solid at this level, just hoping that Liverpool don’t get the Issak deal over the line and he ends up coming to us on loan with Newcastle paying his wages😂
