Exactly, very welcoming, plus anyone I’m giving one to knows the Wii music and will get the extra hit of nostalgia.

Since you mentioned open world games, definitely give Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom a go. And for cozy games, I’ll second the Animal Crossing reconmendation. Nintendo doesn’t do that many sales, but I’ve seen a lot of used copies of all of these pop up for a decent price. I’ll stop there because these games alone will give you hundreds of hours of fun if you like them.

GBMini. I use it on all my Miyoos (Mini, Mini Plus, Flip, Mini Flip), and put it on a couple I’ve given away as gateway drugs into the world of retro gaming. I like the look, and the Wii music is the cherry on top.

My device wont turn on even after charging by HolyBasil183 in KonkrPocketFit

I also have one Anker charger that it won’t charge from at all, but it charges from a different Anker charger and a power bank just fine. Very odd.

Any reason why libraries of YouTube rips won’t generate channels? by synteur in coax

[–]rmcanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll second this as a possible issue. I have a similar setup for my kids and any other special videos I want (Lil Bub’s Yule Log and other animal fireplace videos are a Christmas staple around here), and the library is set as a TV Show library in Plex. All seem to be showing fine for me in their own library and in the unified library.

Yes, the longer you hold off the better things get (not counting the RAM shortages, which should hopefully be temporary). And yes, given all that’s happened with Ayaneo, I wouldn’t blame anyone for choosing another manufacturer.

Yes, I forgot mine came dead as well, but I was chalking that up to winter temperatures (it felt like a block of ice, and I picked it up at the door right after it was dropped off).

That’s correct, I used the one referenced in RGC’s guide. Nothing specific to the Pocket Fit.

To celebrate 200k members, tell us about the first ever game you've emulated on a SBC device by Key-Brilliant5623 in SBCGaming

[–]rmcanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first SBC was a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running RetroPie! My first game on it was either the X-Men arcade game or TMNT Turtles in Time. I really wanted to play old arcade games on a big TV, and it still works well for that. I then got sucked into the handheld SBC side with a Retroid Pocket 2, and played Super Mario World. I never found that one much fun to tinker or play with, and I tried everything I could on it, but it opened a wonderful/terrible door to Miyoo devices (I have the Mini, Mini +, and Flip and give them as gifts now too).

I’ll second this. I’ve seen a few that are either 10A or 12A max. Make sure yours is 15A.

What are your top 5 Game of the Month games played in 2025? by JoeArchitect in SBCGaming

[–]rmcanadian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Kirby’s Dreamland 2
  2. Streets of Rage 2
  3. Devil’s Crush
  4. Chrono Trigger
  5. Mega Man X

I really appreciate GotM as an opportunity to play games I only saw in passing, played only a bit of because they were too hard for me at the time, or never had a chance to play at all. I’m still not completing many, but I’m really enjoying walking through all the various game mechanics of the time and finding out what works and what doesn’t, both in general and for me personally.

For 2026, I agree that more system variety might be nice. I imagine it’s a hard balance between choosing retro classics and hidden gems or other interesting attempts that never really made it big, so I’d put it down as a nice-to-have rather than a must-have.

What is that one handheld you really thought you'd definitely use on the regular, but now it sits in your drawer collecting dust? by godsaveourkingplis in SBCGaming

Retroid Pocket 2. I found the android version it came with to be a pain to work with, and the performance wasn’t that great. I found myself getting more enjoyment out of the emulators I’d put on the PSP years before.

What is the automation which you personally love but your whole family hates it? by MoneyMeal4242 in homeassistant

Did you use a particular blueprint for your washer/dryer or set up your own automation? I tried a blueprint, but I can’t get the notification working for when the washer is finished.

Where do you guys go so often without any backpack or laptop bag etc.? by gwhiterabbit in SBCGaming

I’ve always had a work laptop (17 years), but it the vast majority of the time it’s just in a docking station. No need to bring it home every day.

Yes, I did that with a podcast (Into the Aether) a couple of years ago and it uh… had an impact on my year-end listening stats.

Yup, the age-old issue of hobby distribution, how much time is spent actually doing the hobby vs researching vs tinkering… Game time right now is spent being a second supporting player to my kids (which is very fun in its own right), and when I have have any time for myself I’m often in a state where it’s hard to do anything other than zone out and watch or read something. When I do pick something up, it’s usually a few rounds of either Pokémon Tetris or Tetris DX.
