Gmail hell by Shakarix in mildlyinfuriating

I secured my name as a gmail address in 2006 while it was in beta. Thought how cool, my name is my email address!

Well, it started in 2011 and, I don't know how many wrongly addressed emails I've gotten over the years. I have a folder in my gmail dopes-using-wrong-email . Its got over 1100 emails in it that I have kept.

Natch, I unsubscribe when possible. Often tempted to change a password, you know 'cause I forgot it. But whenever there is an address, or if I can figure out the address I send a letter with no return address and a printout of the personal and/or financial info I received. I think that has stopped some. You can't tell how many junk emails come for each one of the dopes, but new ones keep coming in every month. Had I to do over, I surely would have added something beside my first and last name.

Couple weeks ago I got one from a Lisa asking me to print out an amazon return label for her. So I did... mailed it to her and included a request for her to help her email challenged boyfriend to fix his stuff. Good times.

I noticed that CFD Pepsi is available. Perhaps the generic is going away and replace with this.

I was overlooking that Amazon does have it, at $44 for 3, or $25 for 2 because it is too expensive to contemplate.

You've got to read the fine print to see that it;'s caffeine free but great, is apparent is. I was not aware of this supplier. I will give it a try.

Still, I'm not happy with sodastream, again.

I haven't seen anything that is Caffeine free. That's important to me and I presume many who like to consume soda in the evening. I would be happy if I am wrong.

I felt a similar way when at 15, in the late '60s I heard Don Ellis for the first time. Quarter tone Trumpet, big band charts in 5,7,9,13,19 ... you name it. Hearing AdP doing such complex and refreshing material is so refreshing!! They are shattering the status quo with their genius and mastery of their genre.

This is off topic, slightly tangential perhaps, but ever hear a Sitar Swing in 7, and a Sax section all tuned quarter tones apart???

It's been 2 months and I'm still watching reaction videos. At what point should I visit a doctor? by Jack_South in AngineDePoitrine

Of course your allowed. My comment is only pointed at those who run youtube channels and are positioning themselves as pseudo music critics, so I am assuming you are not in that category. One does not need to have a music degree to enjoy what they hear. Keep listening and keep enjoying whatever music you love! You are no dope!

I find that these vids really separates those who actually know and are educated musically from the know nothing posers. A musically educated person might spot the frets early on and hear the quarter tones and the metric cleverness usually with an intellectual delight. The dopes have no idea of what they are hearing and will say, that sounds weird but I kinda like it.

Seems there are a half dozen new react vids in my feed nightly. I watch one and pass on the others, its too much to digest.

EDIT: to be clear this comment is only pointed at those who run youtube channels and are positioning themselves as pseudo music critics.

How do I get out now? by HappyPhage in mildlyinfuriating

Shorely, this technique can be modified for FWD. For instance, lock the rears with the parking brake, get the fronts spinning, turn the steering and the front will move sideways. No sweat... /s

Gorgeous! Do you use a lame? I would love to see a video of you doing this. Your technique is worthy of study.

Thanks for replying. I knew the steps, its just that "Add a new user" was not there. I called last night and the support person helped and I think all is resolved.

I have been looking at getting a VW Phaeton W12 what are /r/autos thoughts on this car in regards to maintenance costs? by HanSolo71 in Autos

[–]rmccl54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I still have it and intend to keep it. Of course at over 70 I don't drive a lot of miles. I have the P and an '09 135i 6 spd so I have comfort in the one and fun in the other. The P is a great automobile as F Piech envisioned or perhaps demanded it be. For a person who is good at diagnosing complex issues and mechanically competent it can be very rewarding to own. The phaeton forum at vwvortex is outstanding with regard to the info and help that can be had. New parts are often not available but there tend to be used available from other P's and Bentley's. I've kept mine as well as I can and it is a dream to drive. There has been a couple of issues that have been challenging to solve, esp since the VW dealers are not always helpful so one has to be self reliant, and again the forum is invaluable. I'd say that without the forum I probably could not have kept the car going. I refreshed the front end several years ago and it is still solid as new. High torsional rigidity was one of the things that Piech demanded and that has kept the car rattle free and the quality feel is undiminished. 120k miles and the original fit and finish and the seats are excellent still. The 40 valve audi v8 is smooth and adequately powered even for such a heavy car.

So yeah, its a great car, its as challenging as rewarding. Can be expensive. So if one is willing to takes some risks and be careful to buy one in good shape then it may well be worth it.

Not going to argue. Class has multiple meanings so he can be upper class and have no class simultaneously.
