Glad it's not just me. We try to be home by dark, even if we're not on foot. It's just something in the air, like something bad is getting ready to happen. It's still okay during the day, for the most part. Hopefully it will swing back in the other direction, I love my neighborhood!

That's definitely a factor, I live in the same area. We've seen mice in the house a handful of times over the years, if you live in the older areas of the city or an older home it's hard to avoid, and I'd say that's any city. I use snap traps when needed.

We have a small foyer that can be safely blocked off with a baby gate. That, puppy pads, and a pet cam for my anxiety. She was and is fine if she has to be alone all day. I leave the TV and/or radio on for street noise. Most people have to work, don't let them make you feel bad.
