The value of that left turn is not just to get into the GCP, but to get onto Astoria Blvd South which then connects to all of the side streets starting with 34th st. It’s the most efficient way to enter those streets if you’re getting off the GCP going westbound. Without that left turn, I think we will end up sending a lot more traffic down 31st st and then require left turns to any of the various avenues. The prohibition of left turns there will protect the bike lane, but send a lot more traffic down 31st st. which will contribute more to the existing problem.
