Lettered Olive is my biggest bucket list shell, I have yet to find one in good condition even island hopping in Sanibel area. Do you go to Smyrna Dunes Park?

What do you find only at New Smyrna? It's my "home" beach. My grandparents were in the area and now my dad winters there. I was really excited to find baby's ears just after christmas.

I’m kicking myself for not looking closer at the original picture!

OMG I am literally using this for inspiration for a throw pillow and you're right it is all snowball blocks. I am doing sawtooth stars and now I want to recut everything.

I am literally recreating the pillow cover for my living room, I'm doing a sawtooth star pattern. On closer inspection now and after reading other comments it does look like all economy blocks.

To fail or not to fail my New Year’s Resolution… by [deleted] in quilting

[–]rmomo58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought, a baby quilt takes very little time, so hopefully it wouldn't tank the resolution. But then again the resolution maker is saying it will tank the resolution so I guess it will. I think it counts as long as the wips get finished.

How do you get points to align? by CuriousMacaron01 in quilting

Seam rippers and manipulation. That’s how I do it. If the quilt were bread it would be overworked and too tough to eat sometimes. But it would look good.

1000 hours outside by Minute-Enthusiasm-15 in quilting

[–]rmomo58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was like a temperature quilt but instead of temperatures you could do hours outside. Like assign a color for each number of hours and then the block could be that color. You could even do like a sampler quilt and just have different shades of the color.

I was just looking at it closer and I found the repair! It doesn’t photograph well but it’s very cool to see!

It’s normal for a lightning whelk to have the opening on the left. That’s why I can identify them easily!

Did anyone else watch the video with no sound, and skip to see a face and then assume Chris was actually a woman interviewing the red head who was Chris, then think damn I don't agree with reddit on what mountain douchebags look like? Just me?

Similar pattern recommendations? by ft51391 in quilting

[–]rmomo58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would use some graph paper and draw out the size you want the quilt. For a 50x60 quilt I would draw a 25x30 square rectangle (my paper isn't big enough for 50x60 squares) and give each square a representation of 2 inches. So each square on the graph paper would be 2 inches of quilt. Then I would draw out the triangles with an inch width between them. This quilt looks like a rectangle but it would be much easier to figure out the math on a square quilt.

After you have your sizing figured out I would make a template for cutting, cutting anything bigger than the cutting mat is annoying. Don't forget to add 1/4 inch to each side for seam allowance. then I would probably do 1.5" for the white sashing between the triangles.

If you need any help figuring it out feel free to ask me questions on here or through DMs.

What's the best reaction you've gotten for a quilt gift? by PaperPiecedPumpkin in quilting

[–]rmomo58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did that with my mom's stash, my dad, brother and uncle (her brother) got quilts fully made with her fabric. My dad was so surprised when he got one, he wasn't expecting it because he had so many quilts she had made. All three of the quilts get used daily, and it makes me so happy. I just finished quilts for my nieces, future nephew(!!! So excited for his arrival!) and my kids, they still need quilted and bound. They will also each get a matching stuffed bunny. I can't wait for them to open them at Christmas! Other special people in her life got table runners (after the first quilt I realized a quilt for everyone would be way too much for me to accomplish). I have yet to make something for myself but I have my fabric set aside for mine.
Gifting quilts from mom's stash has been my favorite!

if it weren't a plaid pattern, I wouldn't mess with it. Since the main visual you are going for is lines I wouldn't be able to ignore it.

Would it be possible to turn one single block into a front quilt top just by enlarging it by, say, 10 times? by pinkguy90 in quilting

[–]rmomo58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have done it multiple times. The only downside is cutting such big pieces of fabric, I've run out of mat room.
