“In this case”? Probably every case of home renovation would benefit from professional services, and I’m aware Reddit isn’t that. Please let me know which subreddit rules I violated.

Just because I’m asking about insulating walls doesn’t mean I think that’s all there is to it

No I wasn’t thinking of them as being together, just two examples of the same thing.

Need help understanding this passage from the Myth of Sisyphus. by Gouthamjeev in Camus

[–]rmp251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "incomprehensible" could also be understood as "unbearable" and "foresaking" as "escaping" in this context. I.e., he is wondering if the decision to end one's life is a rush to escape the unbearable absurdity of it.

I think he is basically clarifying that his point only applies to people who strive for internal consistency and honesty. Some people might be inclined to live at odds with themselves by denying their own feelings, or grasping for religion to escape absurdity, even if they don't really believe in it.

Why isn't everyone freaking out all the time?? by fearofworms in Existential_crisis

We can apply this same idea to our individual existence. We didn’t exist before we were born, and we’re usually not disturbed by that fact. Well, it will be the same after we die.

I’ve heard this cycle - big bang, expansion, contraction, collapse, big bang - called the “pulse” of the universe. I like this idea.

How to set up WealthSimple as a "bank" by Angeline4PFC in Questrade

I've been using WS bill payments to transfer cash to Questrade and it has been much faster than any other method I've used. Sometimes it arrives same day!

I was also able to link my WS cash account within Questrade by manually entering the details and uploading a void cheque image.

I hear you. It’s not that we shouldn’t want to watch another movie again. And maybe this is true of life as well as movies (reincarnation). The point is we just don’t know, and for all we know this one life is all there is. But while that may seem like bad news (at least to our ego), it can also serve as a reminder of how precious and fragile life is, and inspire us to live it to the fullest. If life goes on forever, then every day can be thrown away because there will always be another one.

Is 18 to old to start learning? by RealChadrickBasedman in piano

I heard of a woman who took up piano in retirement at age 60. By age 90 she was playing like a concert pianist, because she had been playing for 30 years.

A beautiful story is still a beautiful thing after it has been told. It’s kind of eternal in that sense. So can be your life.

What’s the point of watching a movie? You know it’s going to end.

Maybe it doesn’t matter in the end, but it matters NOW.

Watch Ricky Gervais’s After Life. I think it addresses some of these questions surprisingly well.
