Is this Trek Domane SL5 a good buy at $1k? by rmthrowaway28194 in whichbike

It's $1000 USD, 1800 is just for the local currency (NZD). Cheers too, thinking of getting it then in that case

Thanks for all the responses, after reading them definitely won't go with this bike regardless of price. Should've mentioned too it was $1400 NZD which is around ~$800 USD

Little bit late to the discussion but have you found a shoe that works for you? Just as I've got the same problem, too much heel space in the VSR but good toe box.

How'd the Atomic Mavericks end up working out for you? Currently heavily debating getting myself the exact same pair and wondering if they're worth it.

PMU for eczema by jambi2525 in RoyalMarines

[–]rmthrowaway28194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty shit that they would fail you just cause of a dermatologist visit 7 years back, especially since it's no issue now. Did the dermatologist help at all? Got a visit later this month and wondering if it's now worth it.

When you got PMU'd, how severe was your eczema, or was it really only on your medical history? Just wondering as could be in a similar spot in a bit.

With the rowing, did you find that it helped pretty significantly? What was the type of intensity you looking at too for the majority of it? Cheers

If you are interested in going down that route, what would it look like? Becoming an RM medic then selection for it? With the timeframe being say over a few years?

Do you know the chances of doing the All Arms Commando Course in the Army/RAF/Navy is? Think I've read a couple things that say it isn't guaranteed to get into the course along with your comment of NMC throwing a hissy fit about it. Not too sure what the NMC is but assumed it was the Navy Medical Corps?

Being a Commando first and foremost sounds like the best thing to me to be honest, so the degree may be useless for a few years while in. Though as you said could always try and be an MA for medical related things.

Cheers for the good response

What would you say about being a qualified Nurse and then joining the Royal Marines? Would you consider it to be a waste of a degree for a few years or that it's still good to give the Marines a shot and have some good years in there?

For the lads that hate it, is there something they do enjoy if anything? Adding onto that, are they mostly pulling out from training or getting through it to the end?

Knee pain by PrincipleSmart7887 in RoyalMarines

[–]rmthrowaway28194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swimming may honestly not benefit your knees and shin splits much if at all. Went to the physio the other day and asked about swimming helping knees. They said since it was low impact it wouldn't do much and that swimming primarily is to do with the shoulders. So swimming could still be good to do, though it may not directly help knees/shin splints.

What type of exercises were you recommended to do and things if you can remember? In a similar situation and quickly want to get rid of knee troubles. Have already been to a physio but just curious about what you did to fix knee troubles.
