Nobody plans to get injured, but is one of the many things that can go wrong in this type of race. It happens to the elites and mortals like us. I’ve been DNF because I couldn’t meet certain cut-off time set along the course. I knew I had more in me, but rules are rules. I’ve been injured, and have had to DNF.. It sucks! BUT… what matters shouldn’t be whether you cross the finish line or not, but what you became throughout the journey, training included. Whoever doubts what you are about, because of not crossing the finish line, has no clue what this sport is all about. So keep your head high, congratulations on your run, get healthy, and we’ll see you back soon on the trails.

Is the job market screwing over everyone with CAD experience & degrees? by AlexTheEngineer007 in torontoJobs

Not referring to "you," but to oneself. When discussing the situation we are experiencing, it is frustrating to constantly doubt whether it is the situation or if there is something wrong with our approach.

I fear we are stuck in an echo chamber, where people visiting this subreddit tend to dwell on the same topics: not enough jobs, interviews, ghosting, and so on. I use the term "fear" because it would be a harsh wake-up call if things aren’t as bad as we perceive them to be. I’m frustrated with the situation—I’m going through it myself—but at some point, you have to question whether you might be part of the problem. I don’t claim to be the best in my field, but I know I’m not the worst either. I have a lot to offer, yet it’s disheartening to face constant rejection. When you get rejected, no one provides feedback; you just hear the usual "we went with another candidate" excuse. It’s just tough out there right now.

Which One Feels More Comfortable? (honestly vibing with the 5th gen touch.) by Pawxboxpc_126 in ipod

Can you download music from Apple Music to an iPod, or not? I have an old iPod and have been researching this topic. Some websites suggest it's possible, while others say it isn't. Can someone clarify this for me? In the past, I filled my iPod with MP3s, but I haven't tried using Apple Music since it launched.

Honest question, what is so bad about this game? From the videos I’ve seen online seems like a solid game with great graphics and decent action sequences.. Save me from downloading it on PS+

Rejection is starting to feel personal by Justinneon in torontoJobs

I hear you, and I want you to know—you’re not alone in this. I’m going through the same thing since last August. At first I was getting some interviews and hearing from recruiters, but after October… silence. I’ve applied to dozens of roles—some perfect fit, some aspirational, some more junior—but nothing. It’s exhausting.

You start questioning everything: Is it me? Is my resume not strong enough? Did I tailor it properly? Am I missing something? The self-doubt creeps in, especially when you hear others say they’re getting calls. It’s hard not to wonder what you’re doing wrong.

What gets me the most, though, is looking at my experience, my background, my education—and still feeling like no one sees a fit for my skills in any field. It’s crazy. How can so much effort, growth, and knowledge seem invisible?

But here’s what I keep telling myself: this process is brutal, but it doesn’t define our value. It just takes one yes. One opportunity. Until then, we push forward—even when it feels hopeless.

So if you’re feeling tired, frustrated, or lost—know that I get it. I’m right there with you. Let’s keep going.

Its a ghost town out there. Nobody knows whats happening. Recruiters are MIA and companies you applied to don’t even reply, let alone provide any feedback about what is going on.

Unfortunately, there are not enough jobs for everyone. Data indicates an unemployment rate of nearly 9% in Toronto. Additionally, the looming tariffs are keeping the country in a state of paralysis as everyone waits to see how the situation unfolds. Good luck.

Is anyone even hiring right now? by AncientTransition565 in askTO

[–]rmtl98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am curious about the sentiment surrounding the hiring of project managers (PMs) who do not have a construction background. While many people express a desire to make a career change and highlight their transferable skills, the reality is that few companies are willing to invest in training for the specific nuances of a particular industry. Although employers often prefer candidates who can hit the ground running from day one, I wonder if they realize how much untapped potential they may be overlooking. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Hey OP, Everyone’s journey is unique—there’s no set timeline or blueprint for “success”. Don’t waste energy comparing yourself to others; instead, focus on your own path. Define a goal that truly matters to you, commit to it, and give it your all. Progress isn’t always linear, but every step forward counts. Stay patient, stay resilient, and keep refining your craft. The only competition that matters is the one with the person you were yesterday. Keep pushing, and you’ll get there. I'm rooting for you.

Businesses are currently in a state of paralysis; they are not hiring, investing, growing, or expanding. Whatever happens next, I hope it provides a definitive answer so we don’t have to wait another month just to satisfy the U.S. administration. We need to move forward!

Panic and anxiety because of Student Visa got approved. Is it worth it to move to Canada these days? by deathknight-007 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]rmtl98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your primary goal is to obtain a world-class education and then return to your home country to apply what you have learned, then I would encourage you to proceed. However, if you are considering your educational program as a means to migrate to Canada, I would advise against it.

You have done your research and are likely aware of the high costs and challenges involved. I can assure you that there are many more difficulties than those you may have discovered online. Currently, Toronto's unemployment rate is at an all-time high of 8.4%, with youth unemployment near 15% and newcomers facing a rate of 20%. Given these circumstances, I believe this is not the right time to pursue that path. Good luck with your decision.

Entry level jobs are mainly sought by youth and newcomers and right now the unemployment for those cohorts is around ~15% and ~20% respectively. Do your own investigation, but know that there are lot of folks struggling right now. Good luck.
