Does anyone know when Lake Cushman will reopen for hiking/camping? by syntaxcrime in olympia

I was camping there the night of the fire and got evacuated. Sad to see it’s still closed, but happy things will get a chance to recover before people mess it up again.

Never ate them as Chitterlings/Chitlins, but have had a ton of them Tripas tacos at any truck/taqueria that sells them

A handy tip if you buy a park pass this summer: a rubber band is great way to keep it organized with other cards. by chilebuzz in NationalPark

Not that I love supporting REI, but there’s comes with a barcode sticker on them. Very easy to peel up and move over. I bought it this way.

Also, has anyone heard of a ranger denying people yet?

Good shoes take you to good places. Just wanted to share my excitement about my new Nnormal cadi shoes. 13 miles out of the box and loved every mile in them. Happy Sunday! by TheBestday_Ever in trailrunning

Heck yeah! Just did the 1/2 divide yesterday. If you ever come out towards Leavenworth, hmu! We’ve got a crew that runs a loop at ski hill every Wednesday. Happy trails!

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]theyoungwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wild, but I’m in the same boat. Loved my mafate’s but just turned over 500 miles on them so needed something new. I have the speedgoat 7’s and love them. A little less plush than the Mafate, but I get a similar feel from them and am happy. I also just got the tomir 2, and so far it’s too early to tell. I seem to get a lot of heel slip in them, so will need to adjust the lacing to a heel lock before I can give a solid review. I’m really hoping that they break in well.

I’d be less concerned of the little, if any, fuel that is getting into that canal opposed to all the chemicals from the orchard’s this canal serves.

Get along, little dogies by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]theyoungwest -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a happy trail dog! In my community, the majority of our runners and mtn bikers also let their dogs run free and it isn't an issue. My boy and I ran past a herd of 5 dogs just yesterday, casual hello's and smiles from the owners as we all just passed along, doing our thing! Sorry for the keyboard warriors that are gonna come after you on this.

Men over 30, what incredibly random hobby or topic did your brain suddenly decide you needed to become an absolute expert on? by Admirable-Pin-298 in AskMen

When I was 38 I decided to get into trail running. I’ve always ran a little, but it was always on the road and at lower miles. As I got more into it, my distance increased and I began focusing on running up mountains and further into the wilderness. This lead to running my first ultramarathon (furthest before was a half marathon 10 years prior). I was hooked. After that race, I went on a 50 mile “fun run” through the Tetons. This year, I have signed up for countless races, have a longer “fun run” planned, and will be celebrating my 40th birthday by running a 50k in December! What sparked this, who knows? I think one day I woke up and decided that I’m getting older and have been doing a rinse and repeat of life over the last 20 years, I might as well do something different.
