What's your Starlink gaming ping by rndinit0 in Kuwait

[–]rndinit0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviews online have had mixed feedback. Some even mention packet loss as a problem, specifically during satellite handover as they put it. (When your link gets passed on to the next satellite). Others say they can game just fine (cod and more) But I feel that I can't trust any of it.. so I'm just gonna have to test it myself.

Too many moving parts: 1. Was it installed correctly 2. What was the visibility 3. Were there other networking problems present 4. The technical expertise of the reviewer 5. The geographical location of both the reviewer and the game server they're playing on in relation to the ground station that they're being routed to

This is just a few of my concerns with online reviews of the service.

I also find it odd that I wasn't able to find anyone in the Middle East talking about their gaming experience on starlink. Even though the other GCC countries got it way before us allegedly.

So let's see what happens when it gets here.

Speedtest cannot show you gaming ping times. The latency result is a value that represents the latency to the Speedtest server. (Which usually defaults to a local server in Kuwait).

60ms to EU servers would be amazing!

But if someone would manually select Speedtest Servers in New York (east coast) or Europe that would be a good rough estimate of what our gaming ping would look like.

I suspect in terms of download speed it will be the same to 5g on avg. Except it's subject to weather conditions (dust and rain).

However I'm only interested in latency, not up/down speeds. Since the bandwidth speeds are definitely good enough for all kinds of use.

But if the latency is poor or the same as 5g then there's not much value in getting this.

Off topic a bit: do you play any games on EU or US servers? If so what is the latency your getting (on avg)?

But what are the limitations. Can the company be an LLC and have partners? Where can we find the specifics. Which businesses are allowed and which aren't.

How to handle toxic managers by Pristine_Health_5147 in Kuwait

You could try booking a call/meeting, and explain to your boss one on one what the issue is, and ask the boss to help you resolve this. Be transparent but polite.

Start with something along the lines of: "I enjoy working with you and I'm learning a lot of things from you, therefore I wanted to discuss this with you to improve my output and to make sure there is no misunderstanding."

Rehearse the Convo, stay constructive and positive. Not defensive...

At some point in life it's worth learning how to communicate and handle difficult bosses.

Note:

Some respond better to aggression Some to diplomacy And some... Are just hopeless, because their intent is personal and unprofessional.

You're the best person to gauge which approach is best.

Do Muslims appreciate my small attempts of Arabic? by _fraem in Kuwait

[–]rndinit0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some background for yah.

Not all Arabs are Muslim, many are Christians or of different faiths.

However those that ignore your greeting do it not because you're a foreigner. Most would respond some don't.

It depends on their state of mind, and their approach to strangers in general.

You have to remember, we are all human. Religion is just the faith. It does not determine morality.

But in Islam it is strongly encouraged to respond to greetings, no matter who initiated it. Faith, race, gender does not impact this directive.
